I have never done a Hilot service before, Hilot is a pre-colonial Filipino practice/faith healing. Paloma did a wonderful job of explaining what she was going to do, explaining and interpreting my palm, my various organs and potential blockages, communications from my ancestors/spirit guides and opportunities to release any unwanted energies. I also opted in for an extra food massage which she incorporated in the Hilot service. Paloma was professional and caring. Expressed to me if I felt any pain or discomfort to let her know. Incredible Experience. Mahalo to Sarah. I began to…read moreexperience some discomfort in the earlier am, THU morning (2am) without any signs of complications as to why? Still today, 3 days later don't know why or what I did. So I went to work on THU (6am), began to feel some pain and could not sit or stand for longer than 2 mins without feeling discomfort, nor could I walk for over 10 steps. At 8 am, with increasing discomfort thinking it was a muscle pull or strain, tried to hunt for a physical therapist. Most centers open at 10:00 am, I texted Sarah who responded relatively quickly. She could not get a 10am appt, but offered a 1215am spot, I grabbed it, Arriving, parking was tight, I parked about 50 yards away, which at this time the pain was getting worse. I had to stop 3 times in that short distance, just to get my breath and rest from the pain. Sarah got me on the table and began to massage..Very, very painful as she began to work the area, I was sweating, and was hurting bad. Because of the extreme pain, she turned me around and began stretching me in a few Thai contortionist stretching positions. Un-freaking-believable!! A few moments later, like a paradigm shift, pain vanished after a few moments. I could actually stand, stretch and knew something went right. Later I found it was my "Sciatica Nerve" due to my Piriformis muscle, (i.e. the muscle from your lower spine, running through your butt to your thigh / leg muscles). Later read that this can be a common event and a few pigeon pose exercises are common to help relieve, (google it). The effectiveness, the diagnosis in confirming it was a muscle and stretching was the answer and of course the willingness to fit me in, this visit was amazing. Believe me, the sciatic pain is not joke, scary to think what could be happening. Sarah is a true blessing with gifted talents. I have another quick stretching session today (SAT). The good: The location is very clean, welcoming, and convenient with parking. Wade was very solid with deep tissue, would absolutely come back for him. He offered us some lovely tea upon exiting. The Bad: I probably won't come back, with Tera. I repeatedly asked for somebody upon calling for deep tissue to which they said all their technicians were good. There were multiple red flags. Notably when they said she was more experienced with Thai massage but could do deep massage. To their credit, their sign says they can change your therapist in the first 15 mins. We agreed to do a mixture of stepping and deep massage with a focus on neck and shoulder. But unfortunately, after she finished her stepping process, it was past that time. I had to repeatedly ask for more pressure, and I'm not convinced she was planning to do any deep massage until I asked when it would happen. When I asked her again, she said that I needed to relax with an irritated voice. Her pressure was ultimately very weak. She then proceeded to elbow me awkwardly for the next 45 minutes in my shoulder and ribs. If you told me that you would set me with a beginner technician who was in their first few weeks of schooling, the bar would have been set appropriately. Her shoulder massage was awkwardly poking into my shoulder blades with sharp nails. Her neck massage was poking her thumb into the various nooks. There was no point at which I felt like she knew how to massage in a cohesive flow or was familiar with the human body or how to focus on knots. But alas, I paid $70 for somebody to elbow me, watching the clock to end, and walked away no more relaxed than when I walked in.
