Easily walkable. Just be mindful every jewelry store will try to coax you inside along the way. I hen we arrived I had high hopes. They had a bubble machine outside, music, chalk drawings. Loved all of this! But when I entered it was a well organized candy shop. Everything was either commercialized or prepackaged. That was kind of a let down. It was crowded, we ended up getting a 1/4 pound of birthday cake fudge for about $7.50. It was sickly sweet. I had asked the clerk for recommendations and she grabbed a tray and handed me a sample and moved along. I know they must have been busy. So we took a guess and while our party wasn't a fan of the one we picked I still think the homemade fudge would be delicious. I know we like to buy treats and distribute as gifts so we paid for a few items and left. We did buy the coffee we found in there. It was local to Alaska so hopefully that will be a hit. Haven't tried it yet but fingers crossed.

After an engaging conversation about chocolates and our visit from the lower 48 states, I purchased some of her delicious chocolate covered Oreo cookies. Inquired about whether they typically have chocolate covered fruit and although they had sold out for the day, the owner went into the back and came out with chocolate covered orange peel from their most recent batch. It was fresh and delicious. She presented it to me a gift. The quality of her customer service was matched by the amazing quality of her hand-made chocolates. Fresh and with care.

Rather overhyped…read more When searching the internet for things to do in Ketchikan, Jellyfish Donuts will be one of the top recommendations. You'll likely see videos about their viral Salmon Donut. Jellyfish Donuts is just a short walk from the cruise ship port. When we got there, there was a long line out the door and down the sidewalk. Luckily for us, we caught Ketchikan on a bright and sunny day so we were not waiting in the rain. It tool us a very long time to get through the line. It was extremely hot and crowded inside of the shop. They ask that you order by writing with a dry erase marker on a laminated sheet. They did not have enough of these sheets available however, so when we got to the register, it took even longer for us to order. The donut was very pricey, a whopping $17. The donut itself was about $15. There is also an additional $1 charge if you want a box. The alternative to the box is a paper napkin. After seeing everyone who ordered their donuts with no box and were making a goopy mess everywhere, you're definitely incentivized to pay for the box. In my opinion, the donut had too much of the salmon mixture on top. Although the flavor was very nice and fresh, it felt heavy and almost greasy. One or two bites was enough to be satisfying. Anything more felt quite overindulgent. Many people were freaked out about the mix being on top of a donut, but it's basically a salmon and cream cheese bagel - just on different bread. Aside from the salmon donut, they offered a variety of specialty sweet donuts and hot foods like dumplings. The sweet donuts looked and smelled delicious - I wish I would have tried one of these.

I opted for the Elk burger, fully anticipating the characteristic lean profile and firmer texture inherent to game meat. However, the lack of fundamental seasoning left the protein tasting quite flat; a simple baseline of salt, pepper, and garlic would have easily elevated the dish. Ultimately, the experience landed in the "average, but not exceptional" category. While the execution missed the mark this time, the foundation is solid, and 108 Tap House clearly possesses the potential to be a standout spot with a few technical adjustments in the kitchen.
