When I was in 5th grade, Miss Minshall always pushed us getting us ready for middle school. She was so amazing and the the teachers only get better and better. Miss Alfaro is so funny and actually understands us so well and yet knows when it's time to be serious. Miss Grasz gives excellent Spanish class teaching with her "Gabi" stories. Gabi is a cat who we read about in small cartoons. She does crazy stuff and makes that class so enjoyable. Mrs. Young is basically the same as Miss Alfaro. She's amazing! Mrs. Min always forgives no matter what. Our class is 30 students, and it is not easy to deal with us. We are very talkative. She keeps her cool and is always so nice to us. Mrs. Blain is great and always doing what needs to be done. Pastor Eric provides great Church messages getting us all closer to God. If you're looking to put your kid in private school and you're close to Brea, I would encourage you to bring your kid here. 5 stars for sure!

As a former Montessori student, this school stays true to the Montessori method of teaching. There are plenty of hands-on learning materials that are age appropriate from 2 years old in preschool to 7 years old in K-1. The kids are able to learn at their own pace and enjoy an environment of collaborative play and learning. Every child of mine who entered preschool had their initial episodes of tears and crying in the first few months. But the teachers at Montessori of Brea are so kind with their loving voices, gentle nudges, and guided redirection to help the children focus on their learning and forget about the separation from parents. Ms. Kim was our preschool teacher for our first 2 daughters and is currently teaching our 3 year old. Our whole family LOVES Ms. Kim! When my two older grade school kids come to pick up our baby, they ALWAYS have to come to give Ms. Kim a hug! She is caring, loving, and has great communication with parents at drop off and/or pick up. There are a total of 4 teachers for the classroom, but I'm amazed at Ms. Kim's organization and memory having to be the primary teacher of 28+ kids and knowing each child's ability. I can barely handle remembering my 3! Ms. Dana was our most recent K-1 teacher and she is just as great! Her lessons helped prepare my daughter for school outside of Montessori. Her open communication and constant use of technology helped prepare us for future apps used in grade school. Ms. Dana was very active in providing updates, even sending pictures to all the class parents of special events and personal messages for individual achievements! With the help of ALL the teachers at Montessori of Brea, our oldest daughter got into GATE (Gifted & Talented Education) and is excelling. Our second daughter is reading three grade levels above her current grade and is thriving at her new school thanks to the teachers and Montessori of Brea. I can only give my highest recommendation for this place! I tell all my neighbors and friends in the area about Montessori of Brea because it has helped our children succeed in and out of the classroom.

After observing different schools in the area and speaking in-depth with the staff, I felt MoB was truly the best place for my brilliant children. The environment and teacher credentials are all authentic, and the classrooms reminded me of my own childhood Montessori schools. If you take a tour, you will observe busy children enthusiastically working with a level of focus you do not see in traditional preschools/kindergartens. The education is top quality, and the staff friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable in child development. Three of my children graduated from MoB, with my youngest being the most recent graduate. They were under the exceptional guidance of Ms. Tess (lead teacher and also a music scholar), Ms. Padmini, Ms. Cindy, Ms. Dana, Mr. Vargas, and Ms. Nayna. We are so grateful for their contribution to our children's development. Every one my kids graduated from MoB with high-level reading and math skills, a love for science, strong musical knowledge, a love and respect for nature and the Earth, as well as high self-confidence and independence. My oldest children, now 12 and 10, are in GATE (Gifted and Talented Education program) in the public school system, and continue to excel. I have no doubt my youngest, who recently graduated from MoB, will also qualify for the GATE program. I credit Montessori of Brea for bringing out my children's full potential--they care about the mental, physical, social, emotional, AND academic wellbeing of the child. After school program (ASP) is for grades K-6 which is AWESOME! Reduced/Free breakfast and lunch are available. Uniforms are mandatory Richman Shirts & Sweaters. Polo Shirts, dress shirts, blouses and shirts with collars in Red, Blue, or White. Shirts must be tucked in. Navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, skorts or jumpers are permitted. Blue Jeans are also allowed. Any Sweater is acceptable and Shoes must be closed toe. School hrs are M, T, Th, F 8-2:24 and W 8-12:30

I love the structure, the Korean food, and the overall environment. Nothing about the school feels low-budget -- the programs, facility, events, and daily care all feel thoughtfully planned and well-run. We've also had great luck with the teachers, who have made our experience very positive over the years. Of course, like any school, not every parent will agree on everything, and some may have complaints. But in my opinion, Dongshin has a long waitlist for a reason. The only thing I would love to see improved is offering a bit healthier breakfast and snack options, although I do appreciate that meals and snacks are even included to begin with. She is in the youngest class for kids aged 2-2.5. There are about 12 students in the class with 2 teachers (6:1 ratio!), which is SO much better than the ratio we had before of 10:1 (teachers seemed overwhelmed at the previous school). Here, the teachers seem to love children and always have something specific and positive to say about my daughter. And if they do have any negative feedback, they say it in such an understanding, gentle way that is easy to receive as parents (we all know how our children can be lol but it's nice when they share it kindly). We also ran into a lot of people we know here at the school and every single person I spoke to sang PRAISES about this school and how much they love it. That says A LOT and my husband and I were reassured we made the right choice in moving my daughter here. We were SO impressed with all the hands-on activities she gets to do during the day, including weekly taekwondo to support children with their hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills, STEM days, sand play, share day, and so many other play-based activities that support their development. For Halloween, they even brought in a petting zoo, a truck/train that was driven around the school, a field trip to the fire station, and a whole barn area for the children to play in. This preschool goes above and BEYOND to love on the children and we could NOT be happier with this school! I also know their TK and Kindergarten classes are packed with students, because parents want to keep their children at Dongshin for as long as possible. I can see why! We also wanted our daughter to improve her Korean and since starting here in September, her Korean has improved SO much! And I love the Bible-based activities they do at the school - I am a firm believer our young children can learn so much about God and faith, and I can tell Dongshin operates under this same belief. At the age of 2, she even brought home an activity that showed the blood of the lamb on the door frames for when God "passed over" the Israelites' home during the final plague in Egypt. Amazing what they teach here! We were thinking about moving our home to be closer to my son's school but decided to stay where we're at mostly because we love this school so much and do not want to move our daughter out. It's so hard to find a trusted preschool for our precious children so we are not letting this place go until she moves onto my son's school! There are no written policies which allows them to create rules at any time and make any decision about your child's schooling. There is no avenue for parents to advocate for your child or come to a fair resolution. Your child can be told they are in violation of rules that you don't even know existed. In addition, your student can be accused of a violation and the school administration will not even bother to speak to you or your student to get the full story. There is no attempt to be fair or impartial. Once the school decides they don't like your student, your student is done there. Some of the teachers are great but the school is run so poorly that it is not worth the money. Send your child anywhere else.
