The results are usually 5 out of 5, but I've had to remind the team multiple times to wear shoe covers in our home. I'm surprised that in the time of COVID I would see them walking in our home with their uncovered shoes. We haven't been able to use them but once due to COVID my husband and I are home 24 hours a day except for one day. Update: After cleaning my house two or three times, an item was broken. When I contacted the company, they said they needed to check with the service provider to confirm the damage. The cleaner denied that anything was broken during their service and refused any responsibility. The company insisted that they supported their employee and believed that the item in question must have been damaged by me not their employee. As a way of compensation, they put a $20 credit towards my next service. I did not continue using their services. read more

They only offer service in DTLA area - I booked a service because the map indicated that I was within their service area, but my reservation got cancelled by them, because I live near Chinatown - the owner says all their workers walk to their clients, so they can't serve areas outside the DTLA even if you are in the same area code. It would've been nice if they were more clear about the areas they serve, so the clients don't waste their time going through the hoops. read more

Between my fiancé working nonstop and me being extremely pregnant, we haven't had the time or energy to clean our house. The bathroom is the hardest thing for me to clean, especially the bathtub and sliding glass doors. I scheduled them to work for an hour. I should have scheduled for longer because I underestimated just how long it would take to tackle the bathroom. They did a very thorough job and our bathroom sparkles. Recently tried to book service and requested a discount to make up for the dryer repairs and they never reached back out to confirm appointment. Stuff may break when strangers are cleaning your place. I have no problem with that, but just acknowledge and provide a discount on the next service and I'll be happy. It doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes level of observation to gather that I really don't like cleaning my bathroom. Try as I might to keep the place tidy, I just can not think of a worse thing to do than scrubbing a tub and toilet. I got a postcard in my mail from Oranges and Lemons that saw their $25 price and thought "Hmm, maybe I can do this." Months later I went to their website and saw that they could also do whole loft cleanings upon request, when I punched in my apartments measurements, I saw how cheap it was and thought I'd give it a try. If the work was up to snuff, I'd hire them to do my bathrooms on the regular. After my appointment this week, I want to kick myself for waiting so long to set this up. Emma arrived right on time and got to work, in 3 hours, my ENTIRE apartment was the cleanest I had ever been since I moved in a couple of years ago. The stove top was spotless, the fridge was clean and my bathrooms tub and door was so spotless, it kinda scared me. Hell, I can even eat off my floors because all the dust bunnies and tiny spots are gone!! I immediately booked a recurring bathroom cleaning for next month and can say with the utmost certainty that this was the best money I've spent in a while. Now, my bathroom will always be clean and fresh and the next time my abode is looking a little worn down, I know who to call. read more

Also known as DTLA Clean - this service was great when I first started using them in 2017. They had a special where you could just have your bathroom and kitchen cleaned at a really economical price ($50). In just a couple of years (2019/2020), they've gone up DRASTICALLY in pricing and no longer offer the bathroom and kitchen special that they once had. Its now a by the hour pricing. They're ok when it comes to the cleaning (with a few misses here and there). I've had items broken and things such as the top of the refrigerator not wiped down, but the true downside is, the workers take a longer than necessary to clean, thereby increasing the cost up to double your budget because it takes them longer than necessary to clean. I paid over $200 for two cleaners to clean an empty 900 square foot apartment when I was moving out of my DTLA apartment recently. The cleaning was scheduled for an hour and a half which is more than enough time to clean an empty apartment (including the empty refrigerator). 1.5 hours turned into nearly three hours (for an entirely empty apartment). A few other less than stellar things is that the person booking the workers often times would call/text at the last minute needing to change the time. Very inconvenient! On this last time, I was called/texted the night before the following morning's appointment and told that the workers needed to come an hour earlier; which on the day of the clean they were late and showed up at the time of the originally scheduled appointment. So I was extremely inconvenienced at the last minute in that I had to quickly rearrange my day to fit a new time when they didn't uphold their end of the bargain and showed up at the original time and I was not even offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience. I wasted an hour to accommodate them. To add to that, I was also, on a few occasions, texted as the appointments were coming to an end and told that they needed to add an extra time because they weren't done. I'm often working with a certain budget, but since they had my card on file they took liberties and often added the additional time + tip. First of all I should decide the tip and whether I want to pay it based on the service provided. The experience was often sloppy and just wrong. Luckily I will NOT need to use Oranges and Lemons again because I no longer live in the serviceable area of downtown LA, but just a heads-up for those that still do...(1) do not leave a card on file [you can not delete it or your account yourself] and (2) demand that you determine the tip as well as whether you want to leave one at all due to the overall experience by both the cleaning staff as well as the person doing the booking. Last, good luck if you can't speak Spanish. Most of the cleaners speak absolutely no English so communicating directly with them can be a challenge when trying to communicate what is needed. I very often needed to communicate with the booker (via text), who then communicated with the cleaners. Its definitely not effective not being able to talk to the actual cleaners. read more

Don't even worry about what that means - three ladies (and potentially ninjas) showed up at my place on time and cleaned EVERYTHING in my apartment for 4 hours and 15 minutes. (1000sqft, 2bd/2b) My bathrooms had a severe case of soap scum and hardwater stains - they are completely gone! They are the most hard working and professional cleaners I've ever had. Also, they are punctual and super professional. They dropped off the three cleaning ladies rather than making them figure out parking in downtown area - definitely a smart and efficient move on their operations! According to their website, they pay fair wage to their workers and partner with the Domestic Workers Alliance. It is a big plus for me considering how often domestic workers' labor tends to get undervalued. read more

I've been craving a deep cleaning of my apartment since I decided I'm renewing my lease (to make my unit feel like new), but I just couldn't get all the crap I have tidied up enough to welcome someone into my home, even cleaners. Well I decided to finally bite the bullet and book with Oranges & Lemons. First of all, I love that they specialize in DTLA. They are familiar with the apartment communities and strangely enough, don't even inquire about the parking situation (perhaps they are efficiently dropped off by someone?) It was such an easy process and the customer service was so great, I figured why not. Also, I know it seems like a silly thing, but their customer interface (website, online portal, branding) stood out from the rest. And of course, rave yelp reviews. So I did the best I could to consolidate all my loose things in the apartment and made the call. Claudia and Karla showed up on time (in fact I got a text saying they were running early, if I was interested,) and got to work. When I returned to my apartment I was absolutely STUNNED. Shell shocked. They call their service "refreshing" your apartment, but it's a true deep clean. Spic and span. Fresh, dusted, vacuumed, tidied up to perfection.The ladies were respectful with the 'homeless' junk I had but would even tidy that up and scoot to the side, making sure it was consolidated and easy to find. And, the details!! My dish rack was completely cleared off (I don't remember the last time I experienced that), cat tree looked brand new because they had vacuumed every level, and the running load of laundry I forgot to place into the dryer? Loaded and dried. Things I didn't expect, but received. They really do have an attention to detail. And extra points for being so kind to my cat who was just minding his business during the commotion. Super impressed and will definitely be using them again. Thank you Oranges & Lemons! Update: supervisor called and was very nice. She is trying to resolve the issue for me and finding a replacement with a partner service. Will update later. I am returning 3 stars back. I've used them for the past three years. They've always been amazing. However they somehow messed up my phone number (despite the number being confirmed in my confirmation email). They then didn't notify me while I was home waiting for them. I waited for 30 min (15 after the ending timeframe they said they would be here by). So I called to see what happened. They claimed the cleaners were here and I didn't answer my phone however I told them I have no records on my phone that this was the case. They then found out it was their problem on their end. Their supervisor was unhelpful and told me that there's nothing they can do and help me with. Great service to punish their customers for their own fluke. No compensation, discount, or anything was offered. Just a take it or leave it attitude. They've fallen so far in just 3 years. Very saddening and disappointing. read more

The online booking and SMS reminders are a nice, modern perk as well. They always ask for feedback after each cleaning, which is a very good business practice. I'm sure you can find an individual that will charge less, but you probably won't get the same level of professionalism or accountability. Out of a few companies I've used, their service was the least expensive AND they did the most thorough cleaning. My 3 hour whole loft cleaning cost around $130 + tip while other companies were charging me $160 for only 2 hours of work. Unlike most companies that service the whole city, this company specializes in DTLA only. This means no waiting around because of inevitable traffic. Since they work locally and get dropped off, you don't even need to provide parking for them when they arrive. I have had Oranges & Lemons clean my apartment three times so far and have signed up for a visit every three weeks. Our apartment was in real need of cleaning after two men and a large dog had been locked up there since March due to Covid- 19 (with my wife out of town tending to her mother). They brought in a team, seeing the scale of the job called for back-up help, and they left the place totally sparkling. The subsequent visits required less dramatic help but they have always been there on time, have been professional and effective, have minimized disruption as I took Zoom calls for work in the space. I would recommend them to anyone who can use extra help right now given how much more heavy our use of our apartments is -- for work, education, family life, what-have-you -- during the lockdown. I booked an appointment on a Monday afternoon for late in the week, which was the first available slot. Received a confirmation email immediately with details of the service. "Cool!" I thought, "A legit-appearing cleaning organization that was a PINCH to set up!" After the paranoia set in (nothing out of the ordinary, just my usual busy-lady-paranoia-that-my-schedule-would-be-thrown-off) that there was no opportunity to pre-pay/guarantee my cleaning, I called the company. They explained that payment is collected after the cleaning. I confirmed once again the date and time of my appointment, and went on my merry way. The following day, I called again to confirm the timing since it was the ONLY time I would be available that week. Confirmed (by a real person) again! On the Thursday, two hours before the appointment was to begin, I receive an email with the subject line "Your appointment has been canceled" and a one-liner in the text portion saying the same thing. Think about it: with this system, they've got nothing to fuss with in the way of refunding your money, since you haven't paid them yet, and they can cancel whenever they want without consequence. Judging by the degree to which they're booked up, it's likely that they overbook each slot to protect themselves from cancellations - but that means you run the risk of them canceling on you too. Reliability is clearly not their forté. I'm out! read more

We have been beyond thrilled with Oranges & Lemons' service. They have cleaned our 2bd loft twice and I've used them for a studio that I use for work as well. Scheduling a cleaning is a breeze on their website and they can generate a quote instantly based on loft size, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. They even offer a bathroom and kitchen-only cleaning! An email arrives the day before with a reminder and the cleaners are in touch via text with their estimated arrival time the day of cleaning. I was in my loft the first time they cleaned and, at one point, I saw one of the ladies wiping down my rice maker! Not just general kitchen cleaning, but literally cleaning my rice maker! I was amazed and delighted. Hard water stains and lime buildup seem to be par for the course in DTLA and these gals bust right through it. Recently, I moved and they did a "move-out" clean for me, and it was fantastic - they killed it. Since I moved out of their service area, I had to use two* other companies for my "move-in" clean - *when the first one didn't measure up to O&L, hired a second one, and it also did not measure up :(.
