Odd review.. This…read morehas to do with the integrity of this organization. Parked and a public park (Julian B Lane), I came back to find a baseball that had shattered my window. I filed a police report and went to school administration. They denied that this could happen as their kids didn't have a game on the given weekend. Later, they admitted loaning the field to a collegiate team, but would not pay for the window. It's my fault for not taking this to small claims court, as my window wasn't cheap.

Instead of finding the best fit, they force students into low-enrollment classes to balance their numbers. When you ask for a simple list of available options, they refuse to be upfront. Even when you approach them politely, you are met with unprofessionalism, dismissive attitudes, and absolute disrespect. Worse than the basic incompetence is the toxic, defensive culture. Leadership and guidance staff literally get together to mock and gossip about parents who speak up. It is petty, schoolyard behavior from grown adults trusted with education. They hide class inventories so parents must blindly accept whatever subpar schedule they throw at them. This administration cares more about dodging work than they do about the students!!!

They wait till the last minute to reach out to say that they will have to kick your child out . The guidance counselor Debra Austin is one of the worse counselors there is. She does not care. They are determined in their commitment and decisive with their strategies to make SJE better than ever. Middle school is tough socially...we all remember that! But the nurturing environment of the middle division helps the kids navigate these adolescent years. School is an IB choice program school. Despite being historically old, this school is beautiful! The staff has always been friendly and in visiting for the IB overview a few weeks ago, teachers seem supportive. In my calls to the school recently pertaining to the program, staff has always been available or if I left a message I received a call back very promptly. My daughter applied for the IB program and got in for this school year which continues our family history of attending HHS. Drop off and pickup convenient off of Central Ave. Despite the school having a high attendance, traffic flows quite smoothly.

In conjunction with standard programs, Hillsborough has offered the International Baccalaureate program since 1994. If you graduate from this program, you receive some nice benefits (i.e. AP credits, Bright Future scholarship). Even if you attend standard classes, you'll still get a quality education. Positives: The teachers are pretty responsive and generally keep parents updated on progress. Drop off in front of the school is relatively easy, even with the crowded parkjng situation. Some drawbacks: AC units aren't always in the best shape (inconsistent heat, AC, and humidity through the building). The bathrooms aren't the best (missing doors, no TP). I'm not sure these are just issues at this school, could be a countywide issue. Overall, experiences here have been positive and I can strongly recommend the IB program. Go Big Red!
