I am a student of the school, and i can guarantee you just because they say the staff is understanding and patient and gentle, that does NOT mean they are telling the truth. i'm glad for the students who have had a lovely experience at center. it's my 2nd year here and progressively it's only gotten worse. I wish it was happy and safe and secure but i want to be honest, if i can save another kid from having the distracting, unwillingness to help, OR be gentle with kids with autism i would'nt run to this "special education system" for help. thank you. I can not say enough good things about Center Academy. We, like a lot of the families of children with disabilities, were searching for an alternative to public school for our daughter when we found them. For years she struggled with fitting in socially and not being understood which in turn affected her academically. She did have a handful of some amazing teachers along the way, but the system as whole was not equipped for her educational and social success. Center Academy changed all of that. They treated my daughter like she was no different than anyone else and gave her back her confidence. They have small classroom sizes which gives them the ability to help students who may be struggling or need more individualized instruction. They are extremely good at keeping the parents informed and included along the way as well. The entire atmosphere of the school is one of patience and understanding, and is built for success. We only wish we had found them sooner. The director, the teachers, and the amazing staff were a blessing to us. We are forever grateful to them for the huge role they played in our daughter's life. read more

My children have been going to Center Academy, Riverview for 2 years now. We are extremely satisfied with the school. There is great communication from their teachers and also the administration. We are always well informed with how they are doing. I love the learning style they have there. Each child have different needs while learning and they realize that and tailor their teaching an assignments to each child's needs. Both of my children came from public school and one from another private school. These past schools were not equipped to handle the special needs of my children. I am thrilled to know they will be able to go all the way through to 12th grade. The work there is challenging but it is obtainable especially since there is a teacher and teacher's assistants helping them throughout the day. My children have went from C students to A and B students in the past two years. They now have confidence in what they can achieve. It is the most well run school there is. I am proud to have my children there! read more

Hello, I'm a student at Center Academy with Autism and I have been going to CA for three years and now. For the upcoming 2015-2016 year I will be a senior and I'm excited and can't wait to spend my last school year with CA. From day one when I started in 2012 they were there every step of the way, when I first started coming to class and was shy & had no social skills, to when I moved to Mr.B's classroom in my tenth grade year, & last year when I Struggled with math they were there. They are very understanding & if you have an issue at school, are struggling with a subject,or you even have an issue at home they are there and will listen to every word you say. If your child has an LD (Learning Disorder ) they will help them conquer it ways that they can understand and at the appropriate grade level for them. Just like they helped me find the right subjects to be in, they can help your son or daughter work at their grade level and at their own pace. They can take as much time as they need, get extra time for test,and extra help for the subjects they may need the most help in. I love CA, Mr. Stone the director, teacher, and staff. I hope more people with look into and choose CA as the school for their child. read more

My granddaughter has been attending Center Academy in Riverview for 3 years and it is the best thing that has happened for her. She is an honor roll student and her social skills have improved 100%. We could not be happier with Mr. Stone, teachers and staff. They all go above and beyond to help each student reach their goals and be the best they can be. We sent our son here for fourth grade when his ADHD and anxiety disorders made a traditional public school too difficult for him. Everything was fine until he began exhibiting aggressive behavior in fifth grade. The school recommended a counselor and we entered into a contract that stated that as long as we continued to work with the counselor, they would continue to work with our son. During this time he was bullied by other students, and the school only punished our son when he reacted to the bully. After a refund date passed, he had an outburst in class and they expelled him. We were never told that there was a possibility of expulsion, and hadn't considered it, since we were still operating under the behavioral contract. Needless to say, we were completely unprepared for this and were left scrambling to find a new school for him. To add insult to injury, the school charged us (and hired a collection agency) for a full year of tuition, despite his only attending the first quarter (which was paid in full), and added $2,000 for collection fees and interest, and will not release his school records. I would not recommend this school and I hope no other parent ever has to go through what we have gone through, it has been a true nightmare. read more
