Harrison Animal Control - One of the dogs we adopted from this shelter

I love this place. They allow people to come in and play with the dogs and cats if you would like…read more And we have bough 2 of 3 dogs from there. The dogs are so amazing and they were not expensive to buy.

You know, I understand that a lack of funding can lead to less than stellar community services…read more This is a ridiculous farce of a taxpayer funded amenity. We have this neighbor who had about a million cats. That's an exaggeration. There were dozens and they were breeding like, well, like dozens of un-spayed and un-nuetered cats. This wouldn't have been my business except for the sad and pathetic fact that they were obviously underfed and kept spilling over to our property. They ripped through trash cans and hung out on my porch and clawed at my back door. I called Animal Control. I was told that they had limited hours and limited staff and that I was more than welcome to catch the cats myself and keep them until one of the few days a week that I could bring them to the facility. First of all, I am not going to capture feral cats who may or may not be infected with rabies or any number of contagions and hold onto them for several days until I can make the journey with said cats in tow several miles to the animal control facility. Secondly, it is not my responsibility as a taxpayer to do so. Thirdly, my neighbors should have been (at the very least) cited for not properly caring for the animals. Several weeks after my complaint to Animal Control, someone came by the neighbor's house to inquire about the cats. The neighbor denied having any cats at all. None. Not a one. The many cats rubbing against the legs of the animal control officer were obviously the deluded imaginings of a nosy neighbor. Soon after, the cats started to disappear. I am hoping that they were shipped off to friends, family, or animal shelters.
