Robert came and measured the job, asked questions to make certain he understood exactly what we wanted done. He then sent a very fair estimate and we made a date to do the job. His crew, Juan, Brandon and Henry showed up on time and began the work of removing the old concrete. They found that it was a much harder job than planned because the original concrete had been poured in differing thicknesses. Nonetheless, they worked for two days breaking it up, removing it and hauling it away. We were amazed at how hard this crew worked, how courteous and pleasant they were and also how well they worked together. They never stopped except for a very brief lunch break and were right back at it. The chunks were extremely heavy but they lifted them into a wheel barrow and hauled them out to the trailer without one hesitation. We were amazed at how hard this crew worked and made certain that the job was done correctly. They ran into some problems with the patio posts that had sunk a bit over the years so they fixed this problem. They made certain that we were apprised of the progress and inquired if there was anything we needed done differently. The next day, they added Chris and poured the new tinted concrete in very hot weather...never stopping to break and making certain that every moment of attending to the wet concrete was done properly. They stamped a beautiful pattern into portions of it and brushed several other parts. All in all, we were amazed at Robert's crew and the magnificent job they did for us. Also, Robert was reachable at all times during the job and checked in to make certain all was going as we wanted. Thanks very much to Robert and Patron Construction. We will never hesitate to recommend you and your crew.

Do your homework people. Go to the CSLB website. Make sure contractors you hire are licensed and…read moreinsured. With the amount of investment that you are making for these type of projects, there's no way you want to go for the lowest bidder because those folks are most likely unlicensed and uninsured, and worse, cut corners with your work. I know few people that got screwed by their contractor because they didn't finish their job or did such poor job that they had to hire another contractor, basically coughing up double the amount as originally planned. Don't let that happen to you! Enter Thomas aka "T" of Artisan Light & Landscape. Now, let me tell you that I did tremendous amount of research before I chose him. I'm crazy. I research the hell out of everything! After I researched about 30+ "reputable" contractors/lanscaping companies via Google, Yelp, CSLB, guys knocking on my door, left business cards and brochures at my door, and a neighbor referral to top it off, I narrowed my choices down to 5 and interviewed them in person. I'll tell you what. T was BY FAR not only the most knowledgeable, but he was super responsive and worked with me in designing a customized front yard that was a bit different than a lot of these "cookie cutter" designs that a lot of these contractors draw up, using the same materials from their previous jobs so they save money! We wanted our yard to look a bit different and small details meant a lot for us. T is very patient and super service-oriented, really focused to making sure that we were happy with everything at the end of the day. This type of service and care is absolutely rare in this industry. He also is a plant expert and will even provide you with a list of all the plants that will thrive in this climate. He also even offered to pickup our Plumeria tree from a nursery that was an hour away, so that we didn't have to. We wanted our design to be a little bit different and we accomplished that with T. Without any hesitation, I would recommend T for all of your landscaping needs. Oh, and he's also very reasonable with his pricing for the quality of work that he and his team delivers. He will not be the cheapest or the most expensive as some contractors are also out there to rip you off. After he is done with the project, during the last meeting, he will also provide you with all the instructions and suggestions to keep in mind to keep your yard in top shape! He even gave us a pruning lesson and even went out of his way to prune our out-of-control olive tree in the backyard for us. There are so much more stuff here and there that T delivered to make this experience an absolutely spectacular one, but this review is already getting too long and I'm getting tired of typing via phone, so just call him already! T is the man! T is also super detail-oriented, honest, hardworking, reliable, and just genuinely good guy. He and his team are the best! T - thanks for everything. You sure have gained a lifelong customer out of us. Before & After pics are attached.

Just below all the reviews posted for this service provider, there are more reviews YELP is hiding from viewers and other Yelper's. See below, 11 FILTERED. I read 1 today, which is more recent than some of the ones Yelp is displaying. I viewed Yelp's video trying to explain the way they decide what to post, then read the posts and the only thing that makes any sense to me, is some of the reviewers are not ongoing Yelper's. Does this mean Yelp discredits their comments? Thought you needed to know this. MY REVIEW: I was in need of a Landscaper in the Riverside county area for a property I was working on. I found this vendor (Artisan Light & Landscape) while buying irrigation supplies. I asked the men at the counter if they could recommend some local irrigation companies in the area. This business was on the list they gave me. Tom, the owner and primary service provider is an honest and appointment keeping man. If for any reason, he cannot meet your desired deadline for a service he will tell you outright. His prices are fair too. I had requested and received quotes for a side yard from three equally reputable companies and he was the most concise and forthcoming with his quote. He took notes, went home, worked up a quote and E-mailed it to me. If you have a budget, he will be honest with you and tell you what will work best with your budget. Before hiring him, he gave me an address to view of a property he was working on. The place looked awesome during the day but at night it looked fabulous! The home had landscaping, hardscaping and beautiful lighting surrounding the property. It seems he enjoys the lighting aspect of his job tremendously, and it shows! Using plants I purchased, Tom designed and planted a side yard with a lovely durable border, mulch and a drip watering system. No more sprinklers watering block walls and other hard surfaces! Tom also replaced sprinkler system valves, repaired other sprinkler valves, replaced sprinkler heads, installed Railroad ties to be used as steps, advised us about trees and plants for our next project. This supplier knows his business. He possesses a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona. He can advise you about plants, trees, etc. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable! I highly recommend this service provider. 5 stars all the way! www.artisanlite.com www.artisanscapes.com UPDATE: On 4/3/2013, Tom trimmed 6 trees and 11 Queen Palms on one of our properties. He also removed a Decorative Plum tree for us. The Plum tree was too close to one of the Queen Palms, making a mess on the neighbors lawn. STILL 5 STARS! UPDATE: Today 5/2/2013, I hired Tom back to check an irrigation line at a property we own. The grass was very soggy, we believed there was a leak. Wasting water is a big NO, NO. Tom came out, he dug up the grass and confirmed there was a cracked line. The line was repaired within about 20-25 minutes. This included pulling parts, trimming PVC pipe to size and fastening everything back as needed. I attached more pictures. STILL 5 STARS! UPDATE: Wednesday 8/28/2013, Hired this service provider again. He replaced some old damaged, ineffective sprinkler system parts. Arrived as scheduled and performed service as requested. STILL 5 STARS!

Unfortunately, the response time for follow-up service has been extremely delayed--measured in months rather than days or weeks. The gutters on the awnings installed by Home Improvements by Tim Allard overflow significantly during normal rainfall. Before purchasing and installing the two 62-foot awnings, I specifically asked whether the system would be capable of handling the expected surface water runoff. I was assured that it would. However, it does not. Eventually, Scott returned to inspect the issue and acknowledged both the overflow problem and the need for an additional downspout. I purchased these awnings with the expectation that they would include a complete and properly designed drainage system capable of performing their intended function. I am now being told that I must pay an additional expense to install the downspouts necessary to make the system function adequately. This is not what I was originally told, and it raises a concerning question: Why would a system be sold and installed if it was not sufficient for the job from the start? I trusted Home Improvements by Tim Allard to provide a complete solution. Instead, the project remains incomplete, and I am left with overflowing gutters--a problem that did not exist with my previous system. I believe this issue should be corrected without additional cost to me, as the current configuration does not meet the expectations that were established at the time of sale. I hope this matter can be resolved promptly and fairly.

Gary came out and gave us an initial estimate for the work we thought we were going to want to have done. We had had a few other estimates, but no one else really had new ideas for us. Gary really has an artistic eye for design, and showed us some computer drawings of what he thought could be done with it. We decided to use A-1 for our backyard project. His crew was there every morning six days a week, were so knowledgeable about each step of the project, and really did amazing work. As the project progressed, we would talk with Gary about where we were at, if we wanted to change anything, and what the costs would be. We ended up doing more work than we thought we were going to have done, but we wouldn't change a thing. Our yard is absolutely gorgeous! They put all new fences on our property, a shed, a stacked retaining wall, steps, outdoor lighting, a patio and cover, raised fire pit, new sprinklers, sod and some boulders and landscaping. We never imagined our backyard could be this inviting and beautiful. Thank you Gary and Enrique for having the vision and the ability to create this oasis for us! Our family will be enjoying it for many years and creating a lot of wonderful memories here.

Working with Gary has turned into a nightmare you can't wake up from. Based on the other poor reviews and our experience, his modus operandi is missed meetings, underbidding contracts, and coming back to the homeowners for more money when they are vulnerable. We thought we were dealing with A-1 Landscape & Design.  However, Gary signed the $53K contract in October 2018 as Creatiscape Inc using the license number assigned to A-1 Landscape, a sole proprietorship.  The crew came in and demoed the existing patio, leaving all the concrete rubble.  Gary then requested a meeting at which time he claimed he had made a huge mistake in the bid. He was financially under water and could not pay his crew unless we added $5K to the contract price and pay it to him that day.  He blamed the mistake on Santiago being out when he estimated the job. We thought this strange as Gary is the owner, carries the license and should know how to bid a job.  We felt very uncomfortable with this but felt compelled to agree in order to get the broken concrete removed and the workers back on the job.  Gary never provided a change order. He assured us he had reviewed the contract and there would be no more surprises.   The workers came back to work and proceeded to rip out the existing electrical runs when working the bobcat.  Gary took no responsibility for the repairs needed.   We still hadn't even gotten to the first progress payment when Gary came back a second time telling us he couldn't complete the job for lack of funds. He practically begged us to let him complete the work up to the first progress payment but would not commit to finishing the rest of the job for the contracted price.  We refused and insisted he complete the job as contracted and work with us on fixing the electrical issues.  Instead, he and Santiago came back, packed up their tools and left leaving the backyard a mess with unsafe holes and trenches and no power.  We contacted a lawyer who advised us that Gary is not allowed to use the contractor's license for A-1 to engage in a contract under Creatiscape Inc.  A call to the insurance company confirmed that Gary carried worker's compensation under A-1 Landscape, but nothing under the corporation he signed the contract under.  We weren't covered if there had been an incident. Even under A-1 he had a gap of insurance coverage for over three months in 2018.
