What a beautiful coffee in the touristic centre of Brussels, which is normally hard to find! Just a hop away of "the Bourse" you will find this hip new wave coffee shop, with the highest quality of fresh coffee. I had a Cappuccino which was full of intense flavours and very strong (just how I like it), and decorated with some nice Latte Art. With 2,70€ you have a reasonable price and a little piece of original belgian chocolate comes with your drink. Besides the espresso based drinks you can also get the hipster versions of coffee, freshly brewed with a Chemex or Aeropress. Also the interior is super nice, in the upper level there is even a big table with pens and paper so you can keep your kids (or yourself) busy ;)

Items Selected: Iced Double Espresso with a Chocolate Toasted Banana Bread Carrot Cake Pistachio Cherry Crumble Cake Part of a slowly growing local Coffee culture sorely needed throughout Europe where Nescafe has inexplicably become the 'standard,' Or Roastery has now spawned three locations in Brussels, Gent and Etterbeek, the Rue Auguste Ortsstraat shop playing host to a Monday morning caffeination stop that also featured three of the Café's Americanized experiments in baking. Undoubtedly the most 'hip' spot seen during eight days in the city, the vibe downright Brooklyn or Portland right down to the décor and music, Or Espresso Bar is actually born from a roastery started as far back as 2001 and growing through the combination of education, hard work and passion the OR story reads much like that of its stateside brethren, the team going so far as to visit family farms in order to establish relationships while also assuring single-origin quality and exclusivity. At this point a known entity in terms of wholesale while also running an Atelier not unlike La Colombe through which the team experiments and perfects their roasts, it was after some indecision that the choice was made to try the shop's Single origin Ethiopian Beans by way of a double espresso over ice, and with a robust nuttiness that slowly dissipates to fruity notes the years of practice have undoubtedly yielded as superior product, the vacuum-packed beans by the bag tempting though passed up for fear of harassment when returning through US Customs. Admittedly surprised by the bean, nothing of this ilk experienced during visits to France of Spain, one could not help but wonder whether baked goods could match the quality of the coffee and although admirable in its attempts to do something a bit different than the typical Brussels patisserie the three items ordered were only fair-to-middling, a toasted slice of Banana Bread not only dehydrated but excessively priced at €5 while the Carrot Cake and Pistachio Cherry Crumble were admittedly somewhat better...but at the same time nothing worth going out of the way for when taking into account the rest of the city's great pastries.

As most people, I used to drink coffee out of habit and to stay awake. I did try to enjoy an espresso without adding anything every once in a while, but I never really managed to do so until OR opened. Their well chosen and excellently advised single origin coffees were a real eyeopener for me! Since then, I've become a real regular here. I've been ordering the same couple of drinks for a while, so I didn't notice they changed their menu until recently: every trace of Starbucks-like, sirupy, chocolaty drinks has been erased, putting the 'pure' coffees on the foreground. I like the direction they've chosen! Service has always been excellent here, and it is alway nice to have a chat with the staff about coffee and Brussels. My only complaint is about their limited opening hours: not on Sunday, not after 6 pm.

Our first stop after piling off the metro had to be caffeine and a little walk down, we happily found this great coffee shop. Upon walking in it's clear this place has got their stuff sorted out. Wooden benches, free flowing water, art magazines and daily newspapers all accompany the sweet smell of fresh coffee beans. The drinks menu is simple but they offer quality. We went for 2 x double shot long blacks and the staff were more than helpful. I think it was obvious that we'd hadn't been in the country for more than an hour (probably the luggage and various maps have it away) so they made sure we sat down to get comfortable before bringing our drinks over. The coffee was sublime, sweet and strong with certain fruity twists. They also sell these blends in the back so be sure to take some away with you. We didn't eat but the passing plates looked bloody lovely. Huge portions of fresh sandwiches and pastries, great drills. This place is welcoming, centrally located and a great refreshing stop. Find it and drink it now.

Very original and excellent choice for coffee and tea lovers alike. They have Chemex, Aeropress and Kalita methods. Very good savory and sweet items as well and centrally locates near all the best spots in Brussels. Highly recommended place if you are in the mood for something perfect and this delivers.

Located in the cented of Brussels. The place has 2 floors and its a nice warm and cozy place to study or to chill with friends. The drinks were delicious and they give you a little piece of chocolate with it. The service is quick and the staff is nice. They even bring the drinks to you.

Very nice place! I got the smoothie bowl which was delicious! Together with a ice latte on oat milk and with a croissant on the side - my day could not have started any better.

Simply put: the best coffee in 1000 Brussels!! Quirky and kind of industrial looking, just like the bigger one at Place Jourdan. Very friendly service and some if the smoothest cappuccino outside of Rome, served with Jules Destr

This place is all about coffee. I enjoyed an espresso and a chemex pourover which were both very good. My daughter's cappuccino was excellent. Don't worry English speakers; they've got you covered and the service is friendly. If you are a coffee nut, you should check this place out.

This is the most cozy place to work with free wifi I can find in Brussels city center. It is a small chain coffee with another one near the university area. The table and seat are just right height for working. There is good wifi connection and power outlets. Not too hot in the summer, in contrast to coffee capital. Coffee is also better than coffee capital. The only problem is sometimes being to noisy from other chatty customers.

Loved this place. Great stop for some coffee and croissant in the morning. Bring your laptop, bring a book or just bring your smiley self ready to enjoy some good snacks and coffee. And how could you NOT love a place that makes the foam look like a heart?

    Excited for my cappuccino !

Hip spot near the center! They had ample seating area: outdoor, indoor, and upstairs. I ordered the cappuccino and the pastry, and they were delicious! The cappuccino was really unique in taste, and I wasn't sure if I liked it at the beginning, but ended up appreciating it. On the other hand, the pastry was okay. Overall, it was a pretty good spot to do some work - or watch YouTube videos - during my class lunch break, and I'm glad I stopped by to check the place out.

Great coffee, but a long wait if you order some food from the menu - better take a pastry or a cake if you're feeling peckish. When the avocado on toast came it was pretty stacked and delicious, with a little extra soft boiled egg on the side. The staff were nice enough and polite but the service was on the slow side. I'd definitely like to try one of their cakes next time.

Cool atmosphere, selection of beans is more interesting than Aksum. Had a latte of El Salvador, which was a lil spicy and sweet.

I didn't have many expectations going into this other than drinking a cup of coffee while someone talked to me. Looking at the website, it seemed like a big, soulless company that sells mostly to restaurants and supermarkets, but I was SO impressed. When I walked in, late, Francois introduced himself and talked about the history of the company and how their business works. He was kind enough to take two hours of his time with our small group and to explain everything in both French and English so that I could understand. This is their second location that they just opened a few months ago. I was shocked to hear that he's the fourth generation of his family to run this coffee roaster, which was started by his great grandfather in the 1800s. Based on how big the company was, I didn't expect for it to still be family owned. What a delight! The way this shop works is really cool. They have many different coffees and blends already roasted, so you can buy any of those in bulk. Then they had five or six giant bags of green coffee beans, and you can customize those to get your own personal roast. For example, you can either do a single-source roast, or specify the percentage you want of each kind of bean. Then, you specify the roast and the power (which means how long it takes to get to the level of roast you want). The shop keeps track of the specifications, so that you can order the same thing again. Or even better, if you don't love it, you can basically call and do a consultation of whether it was too light/dark, too acidic, etc, and they will tweak the formula for your next batch until it's perfect. Both in the cafe, and at home, the coffee was incredible. They've definitely won me over as a loyal customer. I didn't know this type of service existed anywhere! It is pricey, but after seeing the precision that goes into all of it, I'm convinced it's worth the price.
