I could wait a week or so till my hair grew a little longer or they could just use a smaller roller it I was ok with tighter curls. I went for the tighter curls and was extremely happy with the outcome. The students and the teachers are all so supportive of one another. Yes it sometimes takes longer that the average salon, but they are students and I find that they take more care. The prices can't be beat either and being on a limited budget, I can now afford to have my hair done more often. I have been there many times now and have been happy with every visit.

The salon suggested a root perm, explaining that it would blend well with the rest of my hair, especially since some of my ends were damaged. I trusted their advice despite my concerns about mismatched curls. After a long appointment (9 AM to 3:30 PM), I had to leave with wet hair. Once I diffused it at home, I noticed a significant issue: the first 2 inches at my roots were tightly curled, while the remaining 6-7 inches of hair were completely straight. I immediately called the salon to express my concern. They offered 15% off my next appointment but didn't apologize or take accountability. When I asked for potential solutions, they suggested I cut my hair where it goes straight which would leave me with 2 inches of hair --a disappointing response. I understand that results might not always be perfect, but I was deeply unimpressed with their lack of care and willingness to find a satisfactory solution. This experience has left me feeling undervalued as a customer.

HORRIBLE customer service! My 15 year old got a haircut today. She has very long hair and needed a…read moregood trim. The stylist wasn't friendly at all, didn't talk to her the entire cut and didn't consult with her if the length was good and if she was happy. After paying 75 dollars for the tiniest trim imaginable (trim and tip) we left and my daughter cried to me about how unfriendly and cold her stylist was, how she wanted her hair much shorter but felt uncomfortable asking . When I went back to ask for more length cut off they RUDELY argued with me about how much she get got cut off and said no more appointments left for the day. Absurd customer service!!! Been going there for years putting up with rude stylists..never again!

My HORRIBLE experience with Chatters…read more I went in to Chatters and asked for a Balayage. I walked out with $250.00 dollar bill and having to go to a different salon to get it fixed. I got bleach put on the ends of my hair and was quoted approximately $169.00. They charged me for a dual color technique, which means "A double process color refers to a two-step service. This is generally done by either lightening the hair first, then going in after and applying a color or glaze, OR this is done by applying a color then following up again with a color (permanent, demi, or semi)". All I got done on my hair was bleach on the ends. I asked the stylist to tone it as I didn't want it to be orange, and she said no. I reached out to the salon manager who said I got a dual color technique, and it is what it is. I reached out to head office and they refused to give me a refund, they also can't explain to me why I paid for a dual color technique when I just got my ends bleached. I didn't get a style, cut, tone or even my roots done, just the ends bleached and I paid a lot of money, I also had my hair ruined. I went to a different salon to get it fixed and the stylists there were in complete shock that I was even allowed to leave the salon with my hair looking the way it did. They were also floored with how much I was charged for such a bottched hair job. I have given Chatter's numerous opportunities to make this right and have now been getting ignored by them, so I am going to continue to leave reviews everywhere I can to save the next person money and disappointment. Please do not support this company, they do not have the experience and customer service that other salons have. It was so embarrassing having orange hair and telling people that it was done at an actual salon. I understand it was the stylist who messed up my hair, but Chatters is not taking responsibility and not making it right that I was over charged for a service I didn't get, and my hair was badly done. Attached is the picture of my hair when I left Chatters and the other is when it was toned and what I was asking for in the first place.

Since relocating to Vernon for work from Vancouver, I have begun the search for a good independent…read morecoffee house, local pub, good mechanic, and a place to get my weed whacked. Chatters is a chain mall salon, but I have used the one in Cranbrook before, and it wasn't so bad. You'd think that Vernon being a larger municipality, and closer to Kelowna that it would be a lot better. Sadly, that was not the case. The stylist I had was a little bit high maintenance, nor was she particular warm. She was a competent stylist, but definitely though she was better than she actually was. Confidence bordering on ego. When I commented that the cut was not exactly what I asked for (and trust me, my hair is not that hard to figure out) she got a bit huffy. Then I got the bill. Fairly expensive for a haircut that was adequate, and not exactly what you specifically wanted. The little soap opera in front of the client (who would be me in this instance) wasn't exactly professional either. On the plus side, the hours of operations are convenient (Thursdays and Fridays they stay open late), and the retail side has a good selection of product. However, the Chatters Salon in Vernon should be a Plan B, or a Plan C, as a place to get a haircut.

I've had the same stylist here for 8+ years. Granted I don't go that often, but when I go, I sense…read morethat she doesn't remember me at all and "fakes" her way through it. I like the way she cuts my hair, so that's why I keep going back. She must have a lot of clients and I just don't stand out or something. I don't mind that she doesn't remember me - I would just appreciate her being honest about it. I notice the past couple of times, she's trying to sell me on products. She's probably been told to do this - and it's awkward. I always have buyer's remorse after - spending $50 on a small bottle of hair cream that I have no idea how to use. I typically spend, with tip, $70 on a haircut (45 minutes) and had spent $275 on a colour (3 hours). As I haven't gone anywhere else in a long time, I don't know if this is reasonable or not. I do my own high and low lights now (Sally Beauty is awesome!) because I was spending too much time in the salon - which was SO boring. I think a couple of times, she even forgot about me when she left me sitting under the dryer (I watched her deliver multiple other cuts while I waited 2+ hours under the dryer with not so much as a check-in to see how I was doing). I appreciate the confirmation/reminder phone call prior to the appointment. I don't understand why there are like 3 people behind the counter at all times - sometimes more focused on their appearance than on customer service. It's a trendy "hip" place I suppose. And when you find someone who knows how to cut your hair, you just keep going back regardless of your disappointments. :(
