When it was san bernardino medical group they were the best. Now as Optum, they are terrible. They no longer offer flu clinics, same day appointments or an urgent care. Instead they treat their doctors like crap, that's probably why all the good doctors have left. It now takes months to get an appointment and the way Optum cares about their patients seems to be a big inconvenience to them If you have to choose a medical group, go somewhere else. read more

I just called after business hours since I received a call at 7:45 pm, in which the caller asked if I can return the call. So I did 5 minutes later, and the person who answered told me to call back during business hours. When I was a few words into explaining, I was hung up on. This is after I was ignored after a severe fall in which I had been waiting for a week now for X-ray results (upon reading reviews, I can see I am not alone in this.) I have come to find the doctor never bothered to review them. I had to call the other day to ask if the results were even in yet and was told yes, but if I wanted them sent to the doctor to be reviewed. I was astonished, since I had gone to urgent care - which I had assumed (my mistake) meant they would be taken and sent to be reviewed that day - and not just sitting in a pile somewhere collecting dust. I said please do. Well, I noticed the same day that my injury (my hamstring and groin) was completely bruised. I also still couldn't walk after a week without help and decided to look it up myself. Come to find that I only had a 72 hr window for any surgery to be done should it had been needed otherwise my muscle would begin to atrophy. So I called again yesterday since I still hadn't heard anything to ask if my message had been passed along - and was told it was passed to my primary and not the doctor who had seen me. (He hadn't done anything to begin with other than ask questions while I sat uncomfortably in a wheel chair. No exam or anything. I was also not given any sort of care instructions other than ice it and take IB. My son was with me thank goodness since I couldn't drive or walk or do much of anything on my own.) She said she'd forward it to him then and that was that. Had I not thought to do my own research and not trust the damn doctor, I wouldn't have known that for my type of injury there were things I should have been doing that were extremely important that would have been nice to know the day I left the damn office! Like wrap it snugly to keep the swelling under control for starters, and the ice is only just the beginning but also elevation is key! I guess it's time to consider a switch. My leg is still black and blue, but after only two days of doing what I learned from the internet and not the one place I actually went to for help, my bruising decreased significantly - as is the swelling. And the pain is much more under control. (I have been photo documenting it for legal purposes) So, thanks Dr. Google. I still can hardly walk. I was treated as though it was no big deal. Partially due to the fact I have a very high pain tolerance. But if I did in fact rupture my hamstring (since I did hear a pop and I had informed him of it when I saw him - I just mistook it for my hip at the time) and I end up suffering long term damage because they wrote me off as if it were nothing, then I'm sure I will have some not so kind words for the medical board about it. We were with Beaver Medical Group (now Optum) for over 20 years. They were the gold standard back then, and we received fantastic service. When Optum took over, patient care and communication went downhill fast. The worst was when we couldn't call our doctor's nurse anymore and it went to a patient care advocate who would ask the same 5 minutes of questions every time we called. And we'd never get a call back from our messages. It was infuriating. I'm grateful for our time with Dr. Goyne and Dr. Philip Lee. They served us well, but we had to move to another medical group. read more

Did not get checked out here but, when I went in the medical professionals greeted me with kindness and even though my doctor was not there the woman who helped me gave me a nice list of some places I could go to nearby. I don't remember the exact name of the woman but I think it started with an A and she was pretty young. read more

Optum is taking over all the medical centers in San Bernardino and surrounding cities. They have changed what the medical professionals can do for their patients. My once yearly, women's physical and check up has been reduced to 15 minutes which means I now am being sent to specialists for simple things. I have changed plans to get away from them. read more

God forbid you should find yourself in excruciating pain. Do NOT expect help, if you are in pain, because there is no sense of urgency. There was no response or follow up to a lower back Xray. And, 'I' had to request a lower back MRI which confirmed a herniated disc, L4, L5. Thankfully, the PA, MS Kopp was the only shining light in this process. She was genuine and helped me out in getting this request approved. Thereafter, I requested an appointment to a pain management doctor, waited over 6 weeks for the appointment and he (Dr. Strum-Arrowhead Orthopedics) would not give me the time of day because I had not completed 10 sessions of physical therapy. Worse yet, this doctor has a reputation among other health care professionals as ornery and as asshole. So what's the point of getting a referral to someone who will find an excuse not to treat you? Finding a pain management doctor, on my own, consumed SO much time making calls, leaving messages and not getting a response. Although my insurance allows me to choose my physician, many specialists will not accept you as a patient without a referral. Finally, after 2 months, I was treated by a pain mgt doctor with solid credentials who was thorough and took the time to discuss my lower back injury, L4 & L5. Bottom line. . .I was left to fend for myself and fortunately, I have a acquaintance in the industry who was able to guide me. I would not rely on Optum for anything other than rudimentary routine medical treatment. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. They schedule you out MONTHS in advance even if you need care right away that you can only get from your primary. In the past, I was in so much pain and no one would help me -- they told me that I needed to schedule an appointment to be seen. Today, I walk in for my scheduled appointment only to find out that "there is nothing scheduled." I took the day off to take care of this issue and waited 4 MONTHS from the time that I first scheduled the appointment. I asked the lady if there is anything that she could do for me and she said, "no, the doctors have a crazy schedule. Do you remember the name of the person who helped you?" NO IT WAS 4 MONTHS AGO. They still use paper forms for sdi. Lots of phone calls to even get your forms sign and completed by your dr. It took me literally 10 days for the dr to finally complete the sdi forms. Then you have to turn the forms to edd dept which would take another 8 days to process. This Optum do not work with you. Dont go here. Use another dr that would work with you. read more

All optum sucks every one I have gone 2 is outdated and run down/dirty and ones that aren't have mean people there..in 45 years this is the worst insurance group I have ever had a large group of us have Complained to our employer and h/R department about it.. Stay the hell away from this place! Ever since OPTUM bought this place, it has gone right down the toilet regarding communication, customer service, and referrals. They have a fantastic doctor named Dr. Lee-Jackson. She genuinely cares about her patients, and works as hard as she can to adjust to the crappy work ethic that's foisted on her since Optum took over. Before Optum took over last year; I'd get a response from the patient portal in a day or maybe 2. Since optum took over, it takes several days, and even then the information isn't very helpful. The people at the front desk do not look you in the eye. Their actions show that you're nothing but a number to them (Am I the only one who gets annoyed when a person's first attempt at identifying you is a NUMBER? In this case your date of birth?). I was referred to get a CT SCAN for a chronic and worsening problem. The dude who did the scan said: "Your doctor ordered the results stat. So they should be there this Monday." I waited...waited....waited. Finally HAD TO GO INTO MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE, because they wouldn't return my calls. They told me that the results weren't in. I called the people who sent the CT scan, and they DID SEND IT LIKE THEY SAID! So, if that's not bad enough, the surgeon who reviewed my results does not see patients after 4 (whereas when this medical group was independent; I was able to discuss results when I got off work...Not anymore!). His secretary set up a phone appointment. I called...Waited...Waited on the phone for 45 minutes, and then the surgeon gets on the "zoom", with FIVE MINUTES LEFT BEFORE I HAD TO GO BACK TO WORK. Did he discuss my results? NO! HE COULDN'T HEAR ME! My mike was DEFINITELY ON, and this guy couldn't hear me. His last words were: "We'll call you back!"...Has he called me back? You know darn well the answer: NO! NO HE HASN'T! I'm walking around life nervous about if I need surgery, if my condition is worsening as I wait for surgery, and if there's anything I can do before surgery; and I get NO HELP FROM ANYONE WORKING FOR OPTUM. I'm currently searching for other medical groups that aren't owned by Optum. This company has single-handedly screwed up what was once a warm, caring, group that employed one of the finest doctors I ever worked with. Do yourself a favor. If you're considering this medical group; then save yourself some time and frustration and just look up your symptoms on Wikipedia, or something. You'll get better communication from a WEBSITE than you will from this "medical group" turned into a boiler room (I'm being sarcastic here, but you get my point). I'm warning you for your own health and sanity: STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ANYTHING OWNED BY OPTUM. Don't get mad at me when you join, get screwed, and left alone to wonder your medical fate. read more

I went here as a child & young adult. A few of my medical issues were missed or misdiagnosed as psychological, but once I left, I found better care and none of my pain turned out to be psychological. There are other negatives that occurred. A nurse was frustrated & decided to spill my medical information to the entire waiting room. They acted like that was my fault. One of my family members was there, I was not. None of us forced that nurse to open her mouth and violate HIPPA. Her actions, her responsibility. The next negative is that someone stuck a note in my chart claiming that my father threatened Dr. Tupas. My father would never attend an appt with me or step foot in a medical building unless it was an emergency. Nobody in my family ever threatened or mistreated anyone. It was a shame because I thought he was a good doctor before that. The next negative thing is someone over the phone from either patient relations or records said "We" as in my family have been causing problems since the 90s. I never stepped foot here in the 90s. I was not a patient until 2002. The only reason I ever still came in was for my aunt with special needs to get her care. The last time she received a shot, she stated she was asked particular questions that were leading without a guardian in the room. Before, they have stated there is not enough room in the back. Well when you are dealing with minors or developmentally disabled individuals, it is a matter of law that they are allowed to have a caregiver, family member, or guardian with them. I'm trying to get more information, but the patient rep attempted to pin blame to skirt around their actions. You can speak about negative experiences without speaking badly about anyone specifically. I didn't get that same respect and grace when my family and I were accused of always causing problems in a time period I didn't even go here and then when I did. Since Optum has taken ove, we cannot get the care that we need! They promised that starting in January 2023 they will have new contracts and things will be better.it's become worse ! We can't see the Drs that we need To see,referrals are impossible . I was told to speak to an on shore man supervisor, when I finished telling her some of the things that have happened since Optum took over she said !!!!!!!! I usually never leave a bad review because I feel really bad but this was beyond terrible. I went in this morning I had an appointment at 11:00 am when they made my appointment over the phone about 3 months ago they said that they were only available till now June 14 and I'm like wow they're really that booked I mean sheesh. The day comes to my appointment and when I made my appointment I made sure I had the right address and right Dr yet when I left to my appointment 30 minutes early to do paperwork etc I come to find out they sent me to a completely different location and turns out I had a different Dr LMAO and the lady there said she would call the place and let them know I was on my way just in case I was late !! so I ended up going to the right location right at my appointment time 11:00 AM, I get there and I stand in line there is two people in-front of me and the receptionist looks at me and says "what's your name" shouts it in-front of everyone so I respond with my name and she tells me to sit down and already I knew it was a bad place but still had hope unfortunately. I think they didn't care how they talked to me because I am young I'm 22 years old yet I work in a dental office and I know how to treat a patient regardless of age. Then whatever I don't get no type of paperwork I need to do or show them my insurance card they just call me in and the lady was very nice to me so was the Dr. and I forgot to ask the Dr for a referral slip to an ob so they had me waiting for over an hour then finally someone comes and takes me to another location and says the next available appointment for a physical isn't till September and I'm still trying to be understanding so I book an appointment whatever and I ask her about a referral slip and about my insurance card because I had gotten married and my name obviously changed and she said the front will take care of it so i'm like okay cool and then she tells me that for the referral slip i had to talk to the Dr so I'm like okay it's my mistake but she was rushing because I guess they had to go to lunch which I am very understanding but patients always go first. She tells me I won't receive a referral slip until 7-10 business days through mail lol I could not believe it I still tried to be nice and said okay and she said I was good to go so I go back to the receptionist and she was talking to a coworker I believe they were on the computer talking I'm not sure if she was training her or whatever so I waited again patiently and like 3 minutes later she goes " excuse me whatever you need to get done will be done at your next visit " I walked the hell out of there said nothing I NEVER EVER WANT TO RETURN TO THIS UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE!!! I could not believe the care they give to patients she thinks because I am young I don't matter ? If I can give this place no stars I genuinely would this is so terrible please don't ever think of coming here. read more

Do not go here. It is a complete cluster...Doctors have too many patients, and there is no where enough doctors. Everyone is nice, but that doesn't help when your appointment takes 3 hours because the doctors are always behind, or urgent care takes 2 hours to see you because Optum cares about only about their bottom line by cutting back on doctors and being efficient.
