Once again I have had a 5+ star visit. They are my PCP with my Aetna HMO insurance. Not only are the front desk employees kind, professional, and helpful on the phone, they are even better in person! Not sure why there would be negative reviews. I work a front desk in a very busy orthodontic office, and I know how hard of a job that is. Everything was in order for my visit, I was seen right on time, and the office continues to follow good COVID protocols. Shawn Plowman is quite honestly the best care provider (aside from my midwife) that I have had in my years of needing medical attention. He is thorough, patient, and very easy to talk to. My adult sons still see him - he established such a good relationship with them starting when they went to middle school. He is a guy's guy with them - which makes them at ease and comfortable discussing anything with him. That being said, he also is great at my own visit, so he knows how to relate to any gender or age group. Getting my yearly screening referrals that line up with my insurance was super easy. (And usually there is generally nothing easy about my HMO with Aetna.) If you made it to the end of this long review, thanks! When I asked the receptionist couldn't say whether or not I'd be seen in the next 10-15 minutes either. I was sent by my main Optum in LN as they were booked and I was welcomed by Shawn as he over heard me checking in at the front desk - he said Welcome I will be taking care of you today . That was a very nice welcome and nice touch Shawn ! I was treated very nice by the front office girls as well. I didn't have but a 3 min wait and off I went from the clean office into my room with the really modern office. I was checked by my nurse assistant - Then Shawn came in and was very pleasant and professional at the same time - he asked how I was feeling - went over my chart online - it is nice going into another Optum as they can pull all your info right up vs going into a walk - in and you having to explain all back ground and meds - Shawn was very through and took his time to ensure I was received my meds I needed and was not allergic to any meds given un- like some other walk - in's that rush you in and out and don't take the time to ask (Are you allergic to ----- antibiotic ? ) Thank you for going over each Med and actually looking at my ears , nose & throat & listening to my chest ! We just left Optum Urgent Care. Dr. Shawn Plowman was amazing. He came out to see my 2 year old son in the waiting room and reassured us he would be able to help glue his small gash on his forehead. He was very caring and made sure to explain everything and make it as easy and painless as possible for toddler. It was our first urgent care visit with our son and first major injury so we we're definitely nervous and wanted to avoid a traumatic experience. The saga continues, I was told they put an urgent order in and I can go to any LabCorp to complete my blood work on Friday. If I could give a zero, I would. They advertise themselves as urgent care, but they are not. Don't even waste your time if you need immediate assistance. You will be lucky to get a telemed appointment with a PA at a later time. Even though my Optum doctor recommended I get my vitals checked with them, I could not see ANYONE until a telemed appointment with a PA. I asked them how that was different than the phone call I just had with my primary care physician. They could not say. They just kept repeating they were not turning me away for care. Yes, you are if I can not enter the building and you won't check my vitals, AS MY DOCTOR INSTRUCTED. I am over 60 and Covid positive with chest pressure. Went to AFC and got into to have my vitals checked. read more

I showed up Friday night after work for a walk in request to see a dr. The receptionist had a difficult time spelling my name, and after she fumbled through the computer system she informed me i am not in their group. Which is strange because i receive letters from Optum all the time with approvals. Since my issue was a simple one but requires a doctors prescription i said i would pay cash for the visit and she said i couldn't. I have never experienced that. I have always had the option at a walk in to pay cAsh. She did tell me there was an urgent care by the McDonalds but didn't give me a name. That was sort of nice of her i guess. After wandering around a parking lot i found AFC. I saw a dr in 10 minutes got my prescription filled there and was home within an hour after waking in. I suggest staying away from Optim. Terrible office made me stand outside for half an hour with a fever due to a meeting that went past my appt time. When I was pregnant with my last child I came in 3 times to try and heal a cough and they googled how to help me and failed. I ended up in the ER with lack of oxygen to me and the baby and my GP never showed up to check me into the hospital. My OB drove an hour to check me in at 3am. Worst place ever!!!! Writing this in their waiting room. I have had billing problems 3 times from this office. They won't let you back before paying the copay, one of the doctors there is my GP, and I have an HMO - should never ever receive a bill! So I had to call my insurance company, who then called, my medical group, who then called the office, who was then directed to the billing department - all while I am sitting on the phone. A 2 hour process each time to erase a very stupid mistake. read more

I want to post this because I feel OptumCare in Ladera (urgent care) has gotten a bad rep and they are deserving of this great review. I called OptumCare yesterday because my son's pediatrician wasn't available to see my son immediately and was having me wait until their walk-in clinic hours (in 7 hours, which to me wasn't acceptable, especially when I was genuinely worried about my son's health). The front desk was super friendly when I spoke to them and even more so in person. They were very accommodating and kind. The level of care from Dr. Shawn was better than most doctors I've ever seen... I was beyond impressed. He was truly passionate about getting my son better and I loved the fact that he was educational and explained everything to me. Dr Shawn said my son should be good and to make sure to hydrate him and get something in his tummy. He was all better for the last 24 hours but all of a sudden, Unfortunately, my son's fever spiked again this evening... I was surprised that when I called they let me talk to DrShawn directly and he walked me through everything I needed to do to save me a trip to see him. He sent a prescription and I'm hoping he'll be feeling better soon. I asked for a note to give to his school so he could be excused and they said sure come and pick it up right now if you're able to. I spoke to the doctor when I got there (as he was at the front desk) and he seriously is the best! I mentioned to him in the front desk girl that they don't have the best reputation online or with the Ladera Ranch moms but he had mentioned that they have made some positive changes and made much progress forward and it should be only upwards from here. I've been 100% satisfied with their care even more so. I highly recommend this urgent care and especially Dr. Shawn. Thank you for taking such great care of us! It's hard to find physicians like you! Run! Run away fast! Prior patients of Dr. Andrew Klein, run away from the new "Optum" or "Optimum" medical located in Ladera Ranch. The front office staff is SO rude, so unprofessional, it actually took me a minute to realize I am the patient "aka Customer" and WTF are they thinking talking to me like this. They talk over you, interrupt you and then proceed to diagnose me over the phone. Are you a nurse? A PCA? A doctor? No, you answer the phones and schedule the doctors appointments and possibly file. Today was a great physician's appointment with Dr. Cuenca! I was nervous about my yearly lab results but Dr. Cuenca explained everything thoroughly. This was my 2nd visit to OptumCare in Ladera Ranch-Office is consistent and clean, friendly caring staff and Dr. Cuenca's compassion for patient care is clearly present. He takes his time answering any questions I have and I'm very pleased with the location and wait time. Dr. Kelly Gee is possibly one of the worst doctors i have ever encountered. She gave me a prescription and I took it as directed and i called back saying i needed a refill and she told me I used the medicine too fast and wouldn't explain how using the medication as directed results in me being told i used it too fast and refused to refill. Then, ended it all off with hanging up on me! I think my review speaks for itself but if you haven't gotten the message, stay away from the so called doctor Kelly Gee!!!!! if i could give her 0 stars or even negative I would without a doubt in my mind. STAY AS FAR AWAY as you can! I went here because I had a scrape that was infected. The "doctor" who saw me asked what medicines I was allergic to -- and she wrote out a prescription. I went to the front office to ask if they could call my prescription into the pharmacy and she said, "no, because she's not in the system". Turns out the woman gave me a medication in the same family of the ones I am allergic to so I broke out into hives, became nauseous, dizzy -- in short, instead of making me better, I was more miserable. I called the office and went back the next morning and when I told them what happened -- they totally gave me the run around. I kept asking for the name of the "doctor" who saw me and one of the other "doctors" told me that she wasn't a doctor and that she was an assistant. No wonder she "wasn't in the system". I checked my prescription bottle and the name of the doctor was that of a man - NOT the woman who saw me. The new doctor I was talking to kept telling me that the medication was not the same one I was allergic to. I called our family pharmacist and she told me that while the medicine prescribed to me was not the one I was allergic to -- it has the same effect and my doctor should have known that. Well, if a real doctor had seen me and not a woman who was using another male doctor's pad had seen me --- that might have been the case. I went back to the Urgent Care clinic and no one wanted to talk to me. One new doctor just blew me off - said I needed to calm down - and took the business card of the office that I was holding in my hands away from me. Then the front desk asks me for another $45 co-pay so they can give me the right medicine. I'm complaining to the medical board. It's bad enough that they have people who aren't doctors seeing patients -- and writing prescriptions on pads of other doctors -- but they don't care at all about the well being of their patients. If I were in their shoes, I would have done anything I could right away to make sure that the patient that was having an allergic reaction didn't collapse! read more

The only reason why I am not giving this place ONE star is because the MA (whatever his name was, was actually amazing and good, he had good rapport skills) This place looks clean and is pretty big inside, with plenty of exam rooms, but nothing about it really stands out. Except for mixed matched coffee tables. The staff is OK, not horrible, but they were not friendly upon entering the office. I felt like I was intruding their space when I walked in to sign our names on the sheet of paper. But whatever, its the doctors that I am concerned about. Ok, here is why I WILL NEVER EVER come back to this office again: 1. We had an appt for 9:15am and was asked to come in early to fill out forms. No problem, we got there at 9am. It took me less than 10mins to fill it all out and we waited for our appt. We did not get called in till 10:00am! And the doctor did not come in till 10:30 (are you serious? Fine, I get it, doctors get busy, front desk may have over booked) 2. The doctor comes in, DOES NOT EVEN look or touch to see if there was any problems, didnt show any signs of honest care. We asked for flu mist, and the doctor said "Let me check our other locations and I will be right back" The only person that came back was another MA (only 3 mins after the doc walked out) to say that they had no flu mist. One, no one made such calls, they were already set to tell me no flu mist and two, I had a question I wanted to address the doctor, but she never came back. RUDE RUDE RUDE. I suggest that if you do come here, see any other doctor besides DR. MONINA GEDA. read more

Not only is Dr Gebhardt no longer with this office (he probably came to his senses and realized that the office staff is a bunch of rude, nasty ladies) they also don't inform you if your PRIMARY CARE doctor leaves the practice. They try to give you the run around for them dropping the ball- ridiculous. They don't contact patients who have X-RAY and CT Scan Results sent to a doctor who isn't even here to receive them and let them know "hey your doctor isn't her, but here is how we can help....." The front desk ladies are BEYOND RUDE. They don't make eye contact and they don't listen to anything you say. We were constantly repeating ourselves. And they have natural RBF... It's a joke that a doctors office- a place that is suppose to help the sick and injured can lack so much compassion and respect. I would avoid this place at all cost. read more

I'm the type that loves to talk about awesome service because in my profession I like to exceed client's expectations. I also felt compelled to at least alert others about Ross Medical, possibly save you from a bad experience. Of course not everyone will encounter a "bad" experience here otherwise they would not be in business! I have also taken into account that at least on Yelp, there are mostly strongly negative reviews... Dr. Kline is one of a key physician at Ross Medical, I was really troubled by my experience with him and the staff. I will note however that one of the billing / receptionists said she felt bad for how my situation was handled. During a transitional (cross-country move) I came to see Dr. Kline as new, primary care doctor. Dr. Kline missed his calling; he really should have gone to law school as he was unable to come to terms over a $40 bill disagreement. I was given one price before coming in and another while I was there. Ironically, my neighbor told me the identical story so this tells me they are more concerned about billing rather than medical care. The point is this; I was in a situation that I needed medical care blood pressure medication and gout. I was standing up for the principle of the situation and watching Dr. Klein tell me that the rent for his offices was incredibly high, he still had student loans to pay off and as he looked out his window he told me he had kids to get home to. All in one encounter - he is not a caring human being much less a reputable physician. I could not believe what I was hearing come from a the physician in front of me. Hopefully you will have a better experience! I just felt compelled to share this; as people should be made aware over his behavior and lack of good judgment / commitment to patients. read more

After I visited the office, I got the bill and they do not take my insurance at all. when I called, the staff was very rude and told me that it is all my fault that I believed them and I should have checked myself. I should have checked, but they could have told me in a nicer way. I arrived to work today and my back started spazzing. Couldn't endure the pain and discomfort very long so I called to try and make an appointment. I was immediately asked to be on hold and then a few minutes later was told I had to walk in and see a physician assistant. I get in and get my prescription sent to my pharmacy. I made sure to specify my pharmacy by its street address so there is no mix ups. I get to the pharmacy and it's not there, they sent to the wrong one. Had to call the office, wait on hold for 5 minutes and my cell battery dies requiring me to go home in pain and no meds. Made my call to the office and was placed on hold again then spoke to someone that assured it was resolved. Aching and in pain I drive back to the pharmacy to find out they sent it to the wrong pharmacy. ...again. While at the pharmacy I called them back was put on hold. Irritated, I hung up and called back to let them know I was done waiting and I wasn't going back on hold. TIP #1: Never allow them to put you on hold. If they're too busy, then they shouldn't pick up the damn phone or they should get a machine. TIP #2: To achieve best results/service, be sure to take down the name of the clerk you speak with and remind them you got their name. (I was able to get immediate assistance) This office lost its "go to" status with me. Never again... Doctors and PA are great. Just the staff are schmucks and can't get it together. read more

I went in to OptumCare over the weekend with my two kiddos. Dr. Zimmerman is the nicest doctor I have ever met and also did a thorough assessment. He's great with kids. I went to Ross Medical urgent care this morning (a Sunday). I arrived about five minutes before they opened and I was third in line. The front desk staff was attentive -not overly friendly, but I wouldn't have been in the mood for chit-chat anyway. I filled out all of the paperwork and was called back around 9:25. I saw the PA right away. My issue was pretty straightforward - strep throat that wasn't improving with the antibiotics my regular doctor prescribed. I was able to get a new prescription quickly and was out of there in no time. They sent the prescription right over to CVS and it was there when I arrived to pick it up. Easy peasy. The office was very clean and seemed to be well run. For a Sunday, I was in and out much faster than I anticipated. And, it is very convenient for me since I live in Ladera Ranch. Bottom Line: I would definitely go back again. read more

Unfortunately, the nature of my visit did not require me to interact with any of their physicians, so I can't comment on their ability, but the front and back office staff are really great. read more
