There was an internal squeal of excitement the day my 13-year old self was told she would need to wear glasses when doing school work and working on a computer. I'd always wanted to wear glasses and here I was getting the chance. How silly are we when younger? Of course, 13-year old me wasn't well versed in thinking that would be regular visits to the optometrist and that frames were fashion needed to be regularly updated.
Thankfully, although as I write this being completely overdue for a check up, Joe and the team at Optical FX are well versed in eye-check ups and have a range of niche brands for frames. My latest pair, Carter Bonds, have lasted a good 3 years and I'm yet to see them on anyone else around town.
My first visit to Joe was as educational as it was routine. He was able to explain a few things about the construct of my eye and why I need to wear glasses that I'd not previously known. Similarly, he was able to correct some formerly incorrect lens strengths I was wearing.
A visit to the optometrist is far from sexy, but it is necessary for those of us who need a little help from our spectacle friends. On that note, I'm off to make an appointment! read more
