After some convincing they begrudgingly agreed. They did my two kids, but when they got to me, I noticed they held the PD machine at a strange angle and the measurement came back much different than my previous PD. I asked if they were sure they did it right and they responded with a very curt 'I know how to do my job' I got a more recent eye exam at a different place and they confirmed my PD measurement never changed and that the people at Casco Bay had botched the measurement purposely because I wasn't buying their glasses.

My great experience started with an enthusiastic greeting by Debbie as soon as I walked in the door. Courtney & Dr. Amy Cyr gave me a super thorough eye exam. Then, Gina Namin pleasantly & patiently dealt with me while I tried on 25 different pairs for frames. She made sure they were just the right one & fit perfectly. Fast forward 6 months and I went back for a pair of prescription sunglasses. I needed a new style. Nick Howe was a huge help and pickled out a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses I would have never tried on myself. He was so good - my wife even loved the ones he picked out!. I just picked them up and Gina again made sure they fit perfectly. The best customer service I've received in a very long time.

This place infuriates me…read more The last two/three times I've gone to them, had my contact exam, and ordered contacts, I've been very low on contacts and let them know this. I also haven't had a car. So, I pay an additional $9 on top of the crazy contact cost to have them shipped to me. Every single time they've told me to expect them to get to me in 4-5 business days. And every single time, it's two weeks later, I'm out of contacts, and I don't have them yet. The first time I called asking, they said whoops, they've been sitting here for a week and a half. They finally shipped them and I got them a couple days later. This time, it's been 15 days. I called at day 13 asking what was up. They put me on hold, then straight up lied to me and said they were out for delivery and would be there in a few hours. Two days later and they're nowhere to be found. No updates. I'm paying $9 for shipping and the contacts sit there for weeks until you literally call them and ask what's up. Now I'm out of contacts, and very frustrated. I know this is basic, but what the f***? These are my eyes! And these contacts cost an arm and a leg!!!! Do better plz. Sorry

I was very impressed with how organized they were -- I received all the paperwork digitally beforehand, so during my appointment I just checked in and was quickly seen by the doctor. Just as impressive was the fact that they are well-staffed. The level of professionalism at Harbor View Eye Care is phenomenal. Dr. Burrill was the absolute best. She took her time during our visit, asked many questions, and truly made me feel at ease. The rest of the staff was also kind and respectful. I ordered my new glasses from them and within a week I got a call saying they were ready to be picked up. So glad I found my new eye doctor!

She was so professional and thorough making sure I understood everything. The techs were also great. Engaging and funny and very knowledgeable as well. What could have been stressful, was easy. Dr. Turrisi brought her small dog into my appointment without my permission. The dog had just come from the vet's office for some sort of procedure and was heavily medicated. Dr. Turrisi was very focused on the dog (as a pet owner I would have been too, which is also why I noted the unprofessionalism as odd but let it go). We got through the exam, and I asked about contact lenses. She advised me to where my glasses for a bit and then call back if I am still interested in contact lenses. She did not advise on a timeline and in retrospect I should have asked. I moved on and ordered my new glasses. After a few months, I decided I was still interested in contact lenses, so I called to set up the necessary appointment. I was told that I did not call back within 3 months so I would need another exam out of pocket. It was a few days over that allotted time. (To be clear this is their policy, which I understand as prescriptions do change but most insurance companies only pay for one exam a year). I am not upset about the policy, I am upset about the communication and lack of professionalism that followed. I was told she would check but it should be fine and I will receive a text message confirming my appointment. She quoted me for the fitting and the prescription at $155 with some help for my insurance. 10 days later I receive a text message letting me know I am scheduled for the exam and the other necessary items and that I will have to pay an additional $185 for an exam. I again called and was told, oh no the exam is not necessary since its is only a few days past that 3 months in our policy. I was also told that the person sending the text message works from home and she just doesn't see what we see here in the office. That was good enough for me. Today was supposed to be my appointment. I received a text at 9:30 saying my appointment was a half hour later than my original appointment. I was confused , so I yet again called and was told, my exam is first and then that is my second appointment for the fitting. I went back and forth with the receptionist who I know was just doing her job but was not helpful. When I stated that it just seemed like that were trying to get more money from me, she got upset with me and asked me to stop talking to her like that. I then spoke to the office manager who checked with the doctor who said she would see me but still would charge an additional $55 for a refraction which was necessary for the prescription. I am not an eye doctor and I am sure it would be necessary but it wasn't about the additional $55 or even the $185. The whole experience was pretty negative. I am fortunate enough to have health insurance and really the contact lenses are just a want and not a need. There really seems to be break down in communication in their office and the need to make money and their own personal lives seems to be more important than the care of their patients.
