Having had persistent neck pain for many years and lately developing associated intense shoulder blade and arm pain, an MRI diagnosed a moderately herniated disc in my neck. After several attempts to unsuccessfully treat the condition through various methods, my primary physician recommended I consult with neurosurgeon Dr. Jeffery Oppenheim. Consultation with Dr. Oppenheim indicated I was a candidate for "anterior cervical discectomy and fusion" (ACDF) surgery. I was initially quite apprehensive about the surgery and the possible complications. Dr. Oppenhein extensively explained the procedure, attentively listened to my questions, addressed my concerns and alleviated my apprehension. Dr. Oppenheim is thoughtful and considerate and exudes an air of confidence and professionalism. I left the consultation now looking forward to the surgery. Dr, Oppenheim's administrative staff efficiently maneuvered through the necessary insurance company approvals and the surgery was scheduled and completed at Surgicare of Mahwah located at 400 Franklin Turnpike. The nursing staff at Surgicare was extremely professional and attentive to my pre and post surgical needs and made me comfortable during my initial recovery. Incredibly, ACDF is an outpatient procedure and I returned home the same day. I am now four weeks post surgery and have returned mostly to my normal activities. Today was my first day back at the gym performing light weight training and cardio. Although everyone's recovery period differs, I believe mine to be possible due extensively to the expertise of the surgical skills of Dr. Oppenheim. I highly recommend Dr, Oppenheim to anyone needing surgical intervention. I visited Dr. Jeffrey Oppenheim on January 20th, 2022, doubled up in pain from a nerve problem in my lower back. I had had some epidurals which helped for a while but this time the pain was so bad and I was not due for another epi until the end of February, so I was recommended Dr. Oppenheim. I was scheduled for surgery on January 27th at Surgicare of Mahwah. Before I left Dr. Oppenheims' office, I felt so relieved, not from the pain, but from his positive attitude. I just knew he could help and that I was in safe hands. His Secretary/Assistant, Marjorie, worked hard getting all my paperwork, medical results, etc. in order, for the operation to proceed. On January 27th I went to the Surgicare of Mahwah early in the morning. The first nurse I met was Yasmin and she was so helpful and made me feel calm (BP was way up). Dr. Oppenheim came to say hello and I met with the Anaesthesiologist and also Dori, my nurse. After I came came around, Dori took me for a walk around the room and I had absolutely no pain whatsoever, even from the surgical site. I have just had my 4 week visit with Dr. Oppenheim and all is good. I feel great and I can honestly say I have no pain, not even where I was operated on. Dr.Oppenheim performed brain surgery on a stage 4 cancerous tumor on my brain last year. The medical results were excellent, I'm happy to say, but as a non-doctor myself, what I am most qualified to judge is his follow up, service and demeanor. On these I wish I could give him and his team 10 Stars! Dr. Oppenheim treats me like a human being, not just another patient in a file folder. He quite obviously cares deeply about me and treats both me and my wife with tremendous respect and caring. He is patient with us, he is forthcoming and direct and he and his office make themselves extremely available. In addition I must add the people in his office are fantastic! They are pleasant to deal with and extremely efficient. They helped coordinate communication between my oncologist, radiologist and their office in such a way that I didn't have to lift a finger! I was referred to Dr. Oppenheim after months of pain and discomfort. Dr. Oppenheim explained what was wrong with me in a way I can understand, and his confidence and expertise made me feel at ease even though I needed surgery. When I woke up from surgery my pain and discomfort was gone completely. If your having back or neck problems I highly recommend Dr. Oppenheim and his team are second to none. I recently had back surgery with Dr Jeffrey Oppenheim and was so very happy with the results. I had a herniated disc pressing on a nerve and was having such difficulty walking. One day I injured my back so bad I had to go to the hospital. I had emergency surgery the next day and right after after I had no pain. It was like night and day, a miracle!! Absolutely the best! I never thought that I would go a day without pain since my accident until Dr. Oppenheim. He was extremely personable l, empathetic and most of all truly just an amazing person. I recommend that if anyone is in pain go see him immediately you will not be disappointed. I can't say enough positive words about him and his staff.
