Her instructor Lauren is creative, energetic, kind, and expressive. It's right on Broad Street so it's convenient, too. Their mission statement: The goal of BalletFleming is to inspire, engage, entertain and educate the public through the works of its Artistic Director, Christopher Fleming. Established in 2010, the company is guided by this purpose in its performances, teaching, outreach activities and commitment to the community. In creating works by choreographer, writer and director Christopher Fleming, we will explore innovative approaches to storytelling, musical theatre and symphonic expositions. By drawing upon the emotional and artistic aspirations of movement, music and drama to bring that to life, we produce dance that is visually striking, innately musical and inherent to the human condition and our deepest of realms of expression.

The quality of the theater itself was also pretty underwhelming, as their second screen is really just a rec room with a projector and choir risers. Add to that the fact that the film we saw was played at such a volume that I plugged my ears for half of it and I'm pretty disappointed, given my good experiences with their PFS East location in the past.

By chance, I read about The Telegram Girl and the services they provided and decided to give them a try - what a positive experience! My initial contact with The Telegram Girl was via email and within less than an hour I received a detailed response - I was very impressed with the response time and their willingness to handle all of my special requests. That same day we spoke on the phone and all details were finalized and contract completed - a very smooth transaction. My main need was to have one of the members of The Telegram Girl's team dress up as David Byrne and sing "Burning Down The House" - the guest of honor's favorite song. No problem at all! In total, I booked 4 singers from The Telegram Girl to sing at the party - Freddie Mercury (singing "Another Year Bites The Dust"), David Byrne (singing "Burning Down The House"), Dorothy (singing "Over The Rainbow"), and The Scarecrow (singing "If Only I Had A Brain"). At the party, The Telegram Girl team of singers arrived on time and the fun started. Everyone was so surprised! Each singer did a great job with not only their singing but also interacting with the guests and the guest of honor. I could not have been happier with their promptness, personalities, and professionalism - well worth every penny. If you're looking to add a little fun to your next event, then give The Telegram Girl a try. I know I will be using them again when the occasion arises. Thanks again to The Telegram Girl for helping me pull off a great party!

Is this one of the best venues in Philadelphia? No. But is it a great place to see a show?…read moreAbsolutely. It's a little bit rundown, a little dirty a little grimy in certain corners but it's such a great venue all that to be said. If you're used to a Wells Fargo center type of show, maybe this isn't your typical spot. The staff is friendly, security is usually quick and usually courteous though I've heard some horror stories, the bartenders are lovely. Price is at the bar are reasonable for a concert venue. I've seen seated shows and general admission at TLA and they all tend to operate the same and pack a full house.

WHAT?! How have I not reviewed you??!??…read more Okay, bear with me. Could the venue have more amenties? Sure. Could the ingress and throughways inside be managed better when the crowd is sardines in a can? Sure. Can every experience in life be "more" or "better" if we're being extra picky, eventually turning those same experiences into a sterile, "will never offend anyone," suburb-coded "I come into the city once in a while for a good show but I hate the parking situation" experience? Yes. But not the the TLA, no. The TLA is Philly as hell. It's not there to give you extra-wide seats or a pinky off the champagne glass kind of vibe. It's there to be affordable. It's there to connect you with all sorts of different people there to see the same great show. And it's there to remind you that sometimes, sticky sweaty is the way to go. In the TLA, we're rawdogging sweaty air and great acts. It's where you go to see the acts that come through town where everyone who shows up REALLY wanted to show up - the performers because they're not stadium famous, and the attendees because they love those same performers all up in their bones. Things might be tight in the venue, but there's always room for fun and dancing.
