I love how beautiful the stairwell is going up to two. I love how much they have expanded their food and beverage line up over the years. The sound tends to be pretty good, the communication from the theatre is always amazing. They waive fees if you come to the box office to buy your tickets. The seats are comfy and almost every seat has a solid view. The box seats are the exception so be warned. The volunteers are always amazing and they are so nice. It would be cool if they opened a second location that served coffee because that line for espresso beverages is always really long. I love the breadth of show types. There's always something for everyone.

Swan Lake October 2025…read more This is one of those performances that stays with you long after the curtain comes down. I saw Swan Lake back in October 2025, and somehow I'm only just now sitting down to write about it.... I apologize for not getting this review out sooner. The last time I had seen this ballet... I was in my twenties, which feels like another lifetime ago. Swan Lake sits right up there with The Nutcracker in terms of recognition. You grow up knowing it, even if you've never actually seen it live. As a little girl, it lives in your imagination. The costumes, the movement, the elegance, and that quiet belief that maybe one day you could be that dancer. For a lot of people, that dream gets planted early and never fully leaves. Walking into this performance, I felt that history. Not just personal, but cultural. Swan Lake carries weight because it's about illusion versus truth, about wanting something you can't quite have and mistaking appearances for reality. Tension is built into every movement. Swan Lake is not the same experience as The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker is festive and structured more like a showcase. Swan Lake is continuous, demanding, and far more intense. The lead roles require stamina, precision, and emotional control from start to finish, and the corps de ballet has to move in perfect synchronization with no room for error. It really is the Olympics of ballet. This performance delivered. It was polished, immersive, and held my attention the entire time. I found myself watching not just the choreography, but the control, the discipline, and the way each dancer carried themselves on stage. One dancer in particular stood out to me, Bernardo Betancor. He was exactly what you imagine when you think of a leading male ballerina. He carried a statuesque presence on stage and was, without question, easy on the eyes. More than that, he had command. The kind that makes your eyes go back to him whether you mean to or not. I'm glad I finally made it back to Swan Lake after all these years, and even more glad I didn't miss this one. Huge thanks to Ronnald M. for pulling me into this night, because let's be honest... this is not exactly a bad way to spend an evening.

They have burst out of the shyness more than I could have hoped for, literally! They both have made lasting friendships, gained confidence & are more disciplined. My oldest started at age 5 & has been going for 2 years now. My youngest started at age 4. I never thought they would actually dance when it was time for the showcases but each & every performance has brought me to tears! Location: off of kirkman rd in a plaza. Kind of central...I drive maybe 20-25min to get the kids there. Studio: clean, decent-sized studio on the 2nd floor. When you walk in is the directors desk & an small area for seating and a unisex bathroom. Then through the door is the actual studio...wood floors & mirrors. Director: Mrs. India. A former 14k dancer from Bethune Cookman. (I know, I know...even though I'm a rattler...anyhow, lol). This lady has talent & creativity pouring from her! She is stern ;) but she has a huge heart and special kind of love for each child. She & her staff teaches amazing technical skills which shows in the solid performances. The kids definitely have fun, they laugh and they cry...but they are learning important lessons that they can't even fathom right now. My kids love JDT and so do I! Besides dancing JDT has Halloween parties, holiday parties, end of the season get-togethers, and Mrs. India does something special for all her graduating seniors. Finally, each child dances in every show..and at the end they ALL get medals. There are different categories depending on age & skill: babies, juniors & seniors. Mine are both babies now....so practice is twice weekly for an hour....and the price is right! Lol. If you can't check JDT out in the fall/spring she also has an awesome summer program filled with activities & trips! Bring your son/daughter here and you won't be disappointed! Ayeee, JDT, JDT!

The acrobatic performers were my fave, even though I was on the edge of my seat worrying that someone was gonna drop someone else. The audience members that were pulled up on stage definitely added to the overall hilarity. I felt like there was a lil nickel and dime-ing going on...why is there an extra charge for parking in the venues lot? Just adjust the ticket price up a little if that's what's needed. There was a staff photographer there - he takes the pics, you pull them up with a QR code later. It would have been $40 to unlock pics with me and my friend doing two different poses. (I passed on getting them) The food was better than I expected, and our waitress Amber paid as much much attention to checking on us as can be excepted since she also doubled as a performer and got on stage for a few dance numbers. Fun night out...I wanted to check out the attached lounge/bar speakeasy, but it was rented out for a private event.

Their service was very friendly and their staff just charming! I loved how the lights would blink just before the show begins before and right after intermission. We arrived to attend The Memphis Musical performance to support a friend and it was amazing! We plan to attend again and again. I love coming out of the norm to support the arts instead of just watching another movie. Their website just made everything so simple. We were able to easily select our seats and pay for them online. The box office holds your tickets near the front door with your last name as the reservation. Loved that! The show was sold out but we were able to purchase front row seats a few days earlier! Just visit: www.baystreetplayers.org. A perfect evening for a great date night or viewing with friends. I recommend to pre-purchase tickets online, bring cash-in case you need a snack during the intermission, and walking shoes -in case you need to park far. There's street parking only.

Why do we return and why do you want to enroll here? 1. Appropriateness - Honestly, this is the first reason we entered the studio. I very much appreciate that the students learn choreography that is modest and doesn't put their bodies into compromising positions. I also value that the music used is classical and young students are not being exposed to lyrics their ears are not ready to hear and think about. 2. Superb instruction. Attention to detail. 3. Students learn quality ballet, giving them a solid foundation for any dance style. 4. Performances! Students are given multiple opportunities to perform throughout the year. Not just a mid and year end recital. Students gain actual performance skills while having a fabulous time in a safe environment. 5. Wisdom & strength - Students legs are prepared and strengthened before going on pointe. This is important for their own protection. I appreciate that the instructors don't throw students onto pointe before their muscles are ready. 6. Growth - Students grow in their abilities and skill level. Every year there is an amazing transformation in skill level. 7. World class dancers - It's exciting to know that our students receive experience and quality instruction to such a caliber that they are going off and performing full time across Europe, with Disney, Universal, Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet. 8. This event has always been one of my favorites so I was SO happy to hear it was returning after so many years! We got there a little after 6 on Friday night and it took us til about 9:30 to see everything. We watched Cirque de Soleil first which was honestly kind of disappointing, the entire show was less than 5 minutes, they did one song. I was expecting a 10-ish minute show. After they finished everyone just stood around, wondering if that was it or if something else was going to happen. We wandered around the area in front of Dr Phillips, we did not pay to go inside to ride the unicorn slide or sit on the dragonfly swing but they were still beautiful to see! We also stumbled upon a really neat scavenger hunt by a local artist so it was fun looking for clues. As we wandered we saw an aerial show by a local studio that was great! Overall there was so much to look at and interact with, it was a great time. We watched Blue Man Group which was highly entertaining! Towards the end of our journey we wandered down Church St and saw the oddities show and the alleyway for Nectar was SO beautifully done. Overall this was a wonderful event, i'm so happy it's back. Art is so important to every community and I love that so many different types of art were able to be showcased in the City Beautiful.
