Always heard about this place but never had a chance to check it out until now. Great source of discount electronics. This place is literally a hole in the wall. Parking is available in the lot next to the building. This place basically sells slightly used (or new) electronics at a ~20% discount off MSRP. Ever wonder where cell phones and other consumer electronics go when someone uses it for a week then returns it? They can't sell it as new, and it's too new for the landfill, so it ends up in stores like these. The selection is obviously much more limited than the stores that sell new devices, but it's a very easy way to score a discount if one doesn't mind that the device isn't brand new. With that said, the store does sell brand new devices too. My understanding is that these devices have been purchased and then refunded while unopened. Apparently such a device is no longer "brand new" either, so they also end up here. Expect to pay a $50 or so premium for such devices (phones and tablets) here. Still cheaper than MSRP, but slightly less cheap. Staff are friendly and helpful. I think it's a family run place. This place sells phones (both Apple and Android), tablets, TV, and even other consumer electronics such as speakers and vacuum cleaners. The store is quite spartan, but it's fine if one knows exactly what one is looking for. Definitely worth checking out if one wants to save a few bucks on consumer electronics. read more

I came here with my family to purchase Dyson v7 and it was $280 for a vacuum. We heard from someone that Openbox offers lowest price for electronic appliances and decided to give it a shot. The appliances here come in refurbished condition and that's why it's inexpensive than the retailers. Haven't had any problems so far. If I ever want to buy a tv or coffee machine I would definetely come back to make purchase. FYI, there's approx 10$ difference on debit and cash purchase and staff would say there's 2% more if it's debit payment. Cash transactions are recommended and cash/debit prices are clearly written on the tag. I highly recommend this place for the lowest deals you can find in the city. read more

Very sad that there is NO consideration of the elderly who need to use a washroom. Elderly lady had recommended this place and drove her grandson over an hour and a half to get there to buy a new iphone and they would NOT let the 73 year old lady use the washroom. She was forced to use the steps right outside the door. read more

If you have been to their website, it is the real physical thing of what they promote. It is an odd place which feels like a warehouse, because it is a store that is clearing stuff that was either returned or refurbished, or stuff that was overstocked. For those who are looking for a deal, you will find it here, especially if you have done your research and checked online that the location probably has it in stock. From big tv's to Dyson vacuum cleaners, to laptops, to coffee makers... it's always a little different but more of the same. Get the address as you may miss it travelling along Marine Drive people drive fast and can pass this place up on the corner of the block. I thought the service was so-so, for what you are paying for as there wasn't much attention while I was there and had to flag a person down, this place is not that big. Also watch out as they have in their guidelines a return restocking fee of 15% and only 7 days, so best be confident you are coming in here buying what you want. Rude manager. He is incapable of answering simplest questions. He was rude from the get go. His demeanor was like "What he you want !". Items are preowned items not returned/open boxed items. Most of them are quite harshly used. I went for airpods. It was filthy and full oh heavy scratches then I didn't buy he then showed me a cleaner one. That one was pretty clean but I wanted to check myself he didn't let me examine by myself. This looked like very dodgy behaviour to me with his demeanor on top I decided not to buy. Shopping during covid is not an easy task, but thankfully small businesses understand the need to be careful and adhere to protocols. Having many questions about tv, the owner was patient, very educated and most accommodating to explain to our whole family. My children have learned so much today. From quality of TVs, to cleaning to final transaction, every part of our service was top notch. We will return for more purchases without hesitation. read more

Horrible customer service. Bought a laptop from them, had to bring it in for service 4 times in less then a year. This last time they didn't actually fix what it was wrong. Been trying to get in contact with the manager or service person that "fixed" the laptop but of course just get the run around. If you're looking for good service or good quality I would go literally ANYWHERE else. My friends and family have already vowed never to get anything from this store, I advise you do the same. read more

Employee by the name of Jean (he claims) was absolutely RUBBISH. Quick description, he looked older than the rest of the employee group, dressed in a black zip up hoodie, and wears glasses and a black cap. He is impatient and has no knowledge of manner and respect. If you take too long walking around and deciding, he tells people to get out of store, oh, and with a horrible tone and attitude too. It's shameful employees like him exists. Openbox needs a better interview screening to hire its employees and needs higher quality management. If Jean was an regular staff, he either needs serious customer service training or tell HIM to get out of store. If Jean was a managerial staff, he either bullied his way to get this job or he threatened people to hire him or else... It should now be the time to stop these bullies and get HIM out of the store. I bought an iPhone for my wife from Openbox Vancouver. The battery was dying in 8-9 hours. In a week I took it back. The owner was very rude. He told me that I can give it back only if I pay 15% of the device as a penalty or can leave the device there and they will tell me in few days if they will repair/replace it or not and I have to choose one of these two options. read more

Terrible, Horrible Customer Service - I recently purchased an apple iwatch from their store for an Xmas gift and was told it was covered with Apple Care. When the iwatch was accidentally damaged within a month of purchasing it, I went to Apple. They said it was covered but not with Apple Care Plus. WTF ? I was not aware that Apple Care Plus existed and I needed it to properly protect my watch and my investment. As a result I would be liable for the repair costs and the repair would be $299. I contacted the Open Box Manager explaining that the salesman should have alerted me that there are different levels of Apple Care and I should not have left their store feeling I was completely covered. The Manager became very defensive said he would do nothing and actually threatened to report me to the police and said he had recorded our conversation - WTF ?? I will never ever go back to their stores and I will advise all my family and friends to avoid it at all costs. read more

This location is not too far from where I live. My blu ray player crapped out on me, therefore, searched on-line and this place was the cheapest. It's not too far from my house when I take the 100. They have name brand stuff, most in generic boxes with minor faults or refixed to sell. I got a new blu ray player for $25. Decent customer service. read more

We have bought a number of TV's from Open Box on Marine dr. Our latest purchase was under a year ago and one of the T.v.'s we bought stopped working, we called Jin who sold us the tv and he said he would need to see our warranty ( which they had no record of, or our phone # ) ODD! Jin also told us that he would charge $40.00, to come take "a look" at the set. After going through some paperwork we were able to find the receipts and sent them to JIN. No response, we called and texted numerous times and he would not respond, finally when we called from our landline he answered the phone, and said we are wasting his time and he's try to "run a business" and that we can call someone else-- He's very rude and unprofessional and doesn't know a thing about customer service, I would never refer any of my family or friends to buy from this store- JIN you need to learn how to treat returning customers! read more
