The day after he came home with us, we had an appointment at a local church daycare. They assured us he would have a spot in April when I returned to work after my leave. In the end we had to find something at the last minute. As teachers we had the summer to do research. We visited quite a few places. We found Brookside Academy and the moment we called they told us to come right over. Unlike many of the other places, the staff was warm and welcoming. The children looked happy and loved. The facility was clean and well maintained. When our Son started in September of 2015, he had a helmet he had to wear on particular schedule and they didn't even flinch. He ended up not needing the helmet nearly as long because of their attention to detail. When he was getting a rash from the cleaners they use to sterilize the changing pad, they changed their protocol in changing him to make sure he didn't come in contact with that cleaner. They also searched and found a cleaner that was just as effective in killing the germs but was gentler for skin. He has loved every teacher he has had so far. On Monday he started in his third room and his first day being the youngest child in the room went off without a hitch. My child turned two this past weekend and can count almost to 20. He knows his Alphabet, his colors, is working on letter recognition, lots of songs, potty training, and most of all kindness and empathy. Our whole family couldn't be happier. We love Brookside!

I toured and signed up for a 4 day spot at the Goddard School (Windward Pkwy). I was required to…read morepay a deposit fee plus an entire month's tuition up front to secure my spot ($1700 total). 24 hours later I received a message from the school I was on a waitlist for that a 5 day spot was now available, which is what we really needed. I explained to Goddard management that the other school was 5 min from my house, less expensive, and most importantly had a 5 day spot available. I asked if I could at least get some of my money back given the circumstances. They refused to give me back ANY of the $1700 deposit despite the fact that they only had it for less than 48 business hours. My child never even visited the school. They claimed that I could have taken a spot from someone else. I paid them Thursday afternoon and informed them Monday morning about my change of plans. If someone visited Friday who wanted that spot, am I really supposed to believe they couldn't have contacted them immediately on Monday to let them know about an opening? I reached out again and was told they never filled the spot. So if you couldn't fill that spot anyway, why couldn't I get even half of my money back? It's not like we took someone else's spot (according to them anyway). The school we ended up joining didn't require any deposit to secure my spot, and the owner purposely enrolls less students than the GA requirement to provide a better and more nurturing environment. My son has about 13 kids in his class vs. the 20+ children in the Goddard class. It's clear that the owner is all about money and posting on social media. I am so happy we found a better place for my child.

When the boys wake up on the weekends and become disappointed that they are not going to school, it provides us with such peace of mind knowing that they love their teachers, friends and the overall learning experience that Cadence provides. As parents, we really appreciate the communication and transparency. The teachers are the best of the best. Most of them have been there decades and they truly love the kids. We love Ms. Monica and Ms. Maria, they treat the kids like their own. It really feels like a family. I cannot rave about them enough. Its a win win! We came by a while back to collect the books and were so impressed by the amount of books donated. Not only that the quality of the books were unbelievable. There weren't cheapy books that you get at the dollar store. No there were high quality books for children from infants to about 8-10 years old. Wow, really touched by that.
