With two major supermarkets, big garage space underground, gym, flower shop, two drugstores, health foods store, bakery, fish and butcher place.. It's got it all. Plus, a fries place that doesn't suck, with great fries! The neighbourhood feels super "homey", and you can always sit on one of the branches to look at the channel and the boats (there is a sailing school there!) There is a also a big pet shop and a big jumbo supermarket! Im giving it a 5 stars because the structure could look better (they stopped constructing after a while so it looks a bit unfinished, but it looks alright, I just think it could look better), but hey, it's all about the content, right? ;) If you live nearby, make here your shopping stop for all your needs.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there is a local market outside which has a variety of food and stuff such as clothes and random things like tools and bike accessories. TIP: If you park in the garage and buy something at AH, they will give you 1€ discount for parking; just show them your parking ticket when you check-out.

There weren't any public washrooms, excluding those outdoor urinals ("pee curls") that only men can really use, and an employee of a nearby shop directed us to the Magna Plaza shopping center. There were washrooms on the second floor of the shopping center, but it cost €1. But when you have to go, you have to go, and I figured since they were charging to use the facilities, it would at least be a clean and comfortable experience -- when you pay for something, there are certain expectations. To get to the entrance of the washrooms, there were two turnstiles. I went to one turnstile, but it was cash only and I didn't have any cash on me, so I went to the second turnstile that accepted credit cards. However, there was a group of fucking tourists, paying by cash, blocking the credit card only turnstile, while they took their sweet time trying to figure out the currency. I finally managed to get into the washroom, and there was no toilet paper! Seriously, if I have to PAY to use the toilet, there better damn well be toilet paper! Thank goodness I always carry napkins and tissues with me and I wasn't taking a shit! I then went to wash my hands, but there was a MALE employee in the WOMEN'S washroom, and he was blocking the sinks and wouldn't let me wash my hands! I was able to find the handicapped washroom and wash my hands in there, but there was no paper towel. This one of the worst public bathroom experiences I have had (that did not include bodily fluids or excrement everywhere). Quite a few big names have locations here including Albert Heijn, Subway and JD Sports, most of these streets did seem decent, and there is a market area too. A lack of information guides / general staff around was a slight problem, at first, it could even be hard to tell you are in something which is a "shopping centre", and they don't seem to have a mall guide which they really are missing, especially as this is the largest shopping centre in Amsterdam. Amsterdamse Poort's location is decent, being close to the Railway Station and the Amsterdam ArenA, but the location, of course, could make it a place to avoid on an event day, as I can only presume it gets hectic. Amsterdamse Poort adds to the feel of the Amsterdam ArenA reminding me of Wembley, as this just feels like a larger Wembley Park in a way (London Designer Outlet etc) Decent place to shop while in Amsterdam as long as it isn't an event-day, not without its' flaws but remains easy to get to via public transport (train and metro) so I do feel a three-star rating is deserved here!

You have grocery stores, clothing stores, electronics, jewelry, body stores, almost anything you could look for. It's a maze, but it has good aesthetics, is clean, and there are maps. Dutch grocer Royal Ahold (Stop & Shop in the US) has two stores here and everything is located outside the security area of the terminal It is very near the baggage claim area. Also the Train Station into Centraal Amsterdam is just outside and easy to find.

Easily accessible from Amsterdam by train or bus...there is everything here from Kiosks, restaurants, bars and even a Nespresso store! Of course there is an Albert Heijn as well. I actually come here from Amsterdam to do some shopping sometimes. Just a quick 12 minute train ride....lots of fun vibes to be in an airport PRE-security. Another big plus are free bathrooms. Access to 12 or more train platforms underground so you can go anywhere in The Netherlands from here. Usually the first thing you see when leaving the airport and arriving to Amsterdam.
