You could see the freshness of al pastor on their vertical rotating grill and the meat seemed leaner as well. They cut a new batch of al pastor and then they chop it to smaller pieces than you're normally used to seeing and somehow, those smaller pieces preserved all the delicious meat juice inside. The al pastor was very tender, juicy, well-marinated and had the sweet and savory notes in a perfect balance and the guys adding some fresh, ripe pineapple on top was a nice touch! I got served my burrito open-faced, I added the salsa, pickled onion and chopped fresh onions and then sent it back to the crew for the final wrapping. Just a great, tasty burrito that absorbed really well. The quality could really be seen and felt and the $10 price tag was unbeatable. The customer service was very friendly and there is plenty of parking right behind the taco stand on the CVS plaza. Will definitely come again!

The meat has no gristle and it's very soft and flavorful. This is why we live in California. I applaud the taco stands opening up in the same block. The line was intimidating but the festive music only made me hungrier. I am surprised at how friendly the staff can be while they are "at work". I've only seen such positivity at Howlin Rays. Luckily, the line moves much faster. They had a cactus salsa which would have gone great with salsa chips. It's the type of salsa that you get at great mexican restaurants and they just let you choose an unlimited amount of it. I asked for rice and beans in my burrito and they put just the right amount of it, being careful as to not overpower the meat portions. I also appreciate that I can add my own salsa, onions, cilantro, before handing it back to them to wrap it. Sometimes the hype of LA places are blown out of proportion especially with blog posts and social media. But I can vouch for this place. It really is worth it. I will be back for sure.

Super casual setup, but you can tell it's popular. I think they're planning to open a full shop eventually. Parking wasn't too bad, just metered street parking nearby. We got there around 3:30 pm on a Friday... and there was already a line. They don't even open until 4:30. One of the workers came and told us it would be about an hour wait once they opened, so we decided to stick it out. I brought a book, my husband had his games and stuff to study, so we were prepared to hang out for a bit. We didn't get our food until 6:30 pm so yeah, definitely longer than expected. Everything is made fresh right after you order, so even once you finally get to the front, there's another 10 to 20 minute wait while they assemble everything. Also, each person can only order 2 shawarmas, which makes sense because everyone's already been waiting forever and goes all in. The owner was very friendly hospitable and appreciative that everyone was waiting for their food. The staff were upbeat happy , listening to music and vibing while cooking everything. We ended up getting 4 chicken shawarmas (that's the only option) "Yaz way" which comes with spicy garlic sauce and Jordanian pomegranate molasses, plus the beef tallow fries topped with fresh za'atar. And honestly... it was worth it. The shawarma was SO good. Like 11/10. The chicken was super tender and juicy, packed with flavor. They dip the top of the wrap in extra garlic sauce and pomegranate molasses, so your first bite is insanely good... messy in the best way, dripping with sauce, tangy, garlicky, a little spicy. And somehow the last bite is just as good. The garlic sauce actually has a real kick to it, not overwhelming, but enough to wake up your taste buds. And the pomegranate molasses? That was the star for me. It adds this tart, slightly sweet flavor that cuts through the richness perfectly. It's such a unique combo and works so well. First, I saw a young man dump out precooked chicken from grocery store plastic bags onto the grill. My food had lettuce on it and there wasn't any cut up, so he got a whole head of iceberg lettuce... unwashed... and started chopping it and then put it on my food. Lastly, the man I paid was wearing gloves and cooking meat. He took my money with the gloves still on. After the transaction, he used hand sanitizer on the gloves and continued cooking. While these in and of itself are concerning, I'm more concerned about the food prep that I don't see. I paid for and took the food, but I couldn't eat it after what I saw. These people are obviously hard workers and have tasty food -- I hope that they have continued success while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
