I'm ok with that, if they are keeping costs low by not building fancy buildings, I'm all for it. The staff there (3-4) people are always friendly and busy. But if you catch them in a slow moment, you can find they have a wealth of knowledge about the area, history, and facts about our water. I do wish they would modernize a few things: Pay the parking lot, or at least add gravel, it's often muddy or puddles of mud. They really don't have any reason not to allow us to pay online. It's not hard to set up anymore, every bank and financial institution has services to set up a portal if they can't do it themselves. And having to drive over there to pay the bill is really kind of silly today. There is a payment box outside if you're in a hurry, but I go inside because I enjoy the rural vibe and the friendly staff, and I always learn something from them when I go in.

This is another beautiful little town in eastern North Carolina. I've been here several times over…read morethe years. And now you can see some new development happening around town. This is because Jacksonville is getting to big, and folks are building here now. I hope this town can slow the process down a bit so they can keep that little town feeling. Now they offer some good eating restaurants around the area. They also have some nice liitle shops there too. Matter of fact I just saw a new BBQ joint along they way. So next time I here I'm surely to pay them a visit. Now if you are near come check out this little town before it is consumed by the city of Jacksonville.

Due to the drought, country ramps close to our home in Richlands are too shallow for our bass boat. I asked around & folks suggested we check the put in here at the Landing a check out. Last week was a gorgeous day so we road into town to see if the Landing & its ramps would be good to use. Our regular fishing ramp was in Elizabeth City at Halls Creek. In our experience, the Halls Creek ramp was our favorite so I knew anything down here had big gills to fill, however, I found the Landing more than acceptable. There is a pull off boat set up section, a plethora of parking, ramps that don't remind me that I havent yet drawn up my last will and testament, picnic tables AND restrooms!! Restrooms y'all! Because hey, I am not one to hang my Lord given big bootie over the side of my bass boat. If it after all, a BASS boat, not ASS boat. Plus, the added bonus of being close to The Kettle diner. In EC, we would always stop for lunch at Bojangles because Chesapeake (at the time) was probably the one city in the south without a Bo, so, I'm looking forward to catching all the bass, dining at The Kettle and possibly placing a geocache along the river. Oh, I forgot to mention that it's FREE. How can ya wrong when the opportunity to outbass your hubby comes free!

I mentioned the outside of the windows were full of cobwebs but that is no longer the case. It looks nice entering now. So maybe someone will see this and REPAVE the ENTIRE parking lot. They fill it and in no time the holes are back. Someone needs to come in and resurface it, pour some concert and then pave over it. The picture below is at the entrance. There is another hole in a parking spot. The exit side looks like some one patched it. Hope the federal office will see this and fix it.
