My daughter loved the kids area and the scavenger hunt, we roamed the rest just to see it and it's truly stunning with the giant windows. The librarians were helpful with the scavenger hunt clues and we really enjoyed our visit here. I did see they have a dvd player for rent if anyone is looking... :)

Boy, was I surprised. First thing I saw was a room equipped with (fairly new) computers, printers, and projector screen. The whole building had a very sleek and modern feel. The children's room was massive and really colorful-- there are toys and lots of space to read/play. There was a massive magazine room with a large selection. Downstairs there were more computers, along with large fiction and nonfiction sections. The shelves were organized and clearly labeled, which made them super easy to navigate. One of the books I was looking for was listed as in stock but not on the shelf-- when I mentioned this to the librarian during checkout, she checked the returns for me, and found it. Really impressed with this library. Wish it wasn't so much of a drive for me, because honestly, I'd be here all the time. What a great resource.

I came here on a Saturday for the 2pm tour. They have tours twice a day, on most days of the week,…read moreexcluding Sundays. It's advised to call in advance to make a reservation, but there were several walk-ins when I visited and they were easily accommodated. Admission is $7 and includes the tour. The historical site is operated solely by Reverend Paul, a highly knowledgeable steward who had such a passion for honoring and celebrating the life of Harriet Tubman that he quit his job in Washington, DC and moved to Auburn to run this landmark. Paul was a fantastic guide. He checked everyone in at the start of the tour. If you arrive early, you can wander through the visitor center on your own, which has photos and facts about Tubman, her contemporaries, and other relevant details about the Underground Railroad, abolition, the Civil War, and women's suffrage. Once the tour starts, attendees sit while Paul spends about an hour telling Tubman's life story in great detail, from childhood to old age. Paul's talk is thorough, humorous, and wonderfully educational. He asks for audience participation throughout to keep the group engaged. After the talk, we moved to one of the houses on the property that was open to the public and where Tubman actually lived. Paul shared additional details about the history of the abode. It contained furniture pieces to exemplify what might have been inside the home when Tubman lived there. After the tour, attendees were free to walk the grounds, return to the visitor center, or peek inside the other brick home on the property, which was not open for entrance. I would budget about 2 hours for the experience. Great opportunity to learn about Tubman, a remarkable and legendary figure who shaped our nation's history.

Beautiful grounds if the weather is good. On Seneca Lake....gorgeous. Wine spigot in the hotel hallway ( limited to one glass per person). We received a coupon for the wine tasting with 10% off of alcohol purchases in the store. The Continental breakfast had a nice assortment of drinks and cold items. Negatives: one word comes to mind...dated. Our room was small with a very limited lake view. The windows haven't been cleaned in a very long time. The television is tiny, like a computer monitor. The spring rod to the curtains kept springing off every time I tried to open or close the drape. The shower is tiny and you can barely turn around. There are few outlets, the only ones I was able to access that worked were in the bathroom ( only one of the double outlet was functional). The carpet in our room appeared to be about thirty years old and worn. This room, called the clay room was advertised on the website to have a queen bed and a refurbished bathroom. The bathroom has not been touched in years and the queen bed turned out to be a full-size bed. Stonecutters: wonderful waitress, who kept our beverages filled and was attentive. My broccoli cheddar soup had negligible cheddar or broccoli. My salad with grilled shrimp was okay. My husband's Cuban sandwich arrived on a stale roll and he thought the fries (weirdly shaped) were reheated. His chili arrived lukewarm. Not a good experience overall. Despite this, the staff are lovely, upbeat and helpful.

We absolutely love Lorenzo State Historic Site. It's such a special place to us. It's actually…read morewhere my fiancé proposed on a warm, sunny July day, which makes it even more meaningful. The property is beautiful year-round, with well groomed trails that are perfect for walking and cross country skiing in the winter. The lake views are incredible, and it's a perfect spot to relax, play, or have a picnic. In the summer, the flowers are stunning. They also host fun, spirited events throughout the year, including horse drawn carriage rides, and everything is very affordable. The trails are free to use, which makes it such a gem in the community. We truly cherish this place!!!
