If you haven't try these yet and happened to be in the area then yes, try it since it's filling and cheapest among all the places here at Steel Craft. Plenty of parking spaces around the place and it located at the front (near the Euclid Street). Easy and small menu with plenty of choices for the filling/topping. Nice and friendly service, foods are very straightforward hey forward with rice, sea-wee wrapper and topping. It's good & tasty with the sauce (xtra pay) but overall it's good. For the prices, some can say it's abit costly and some say it's okey. But overall it's good, quick, tasty and filling plus the cheapest meals in the complex. The dining area is in the central of the place and is clean & covered with breezes. Quite nice and good vibe overall.

I think OniGuru's biggest appeal is its location in Steelcraft, which has plenty of food options and great vibes. The food at OniGuru was a bit of a disappointment. The nori was too chewy and the rice balls fell apart very easily. The teriyaki salmon nigiri had a decent flavor but it didn't taste like teriyaki. The bulgogi was more dry like beef jerky, and it didn't taste like bulgogi either. I'd definitely come back to Steelcraft again, but I'd probably pick a different food vendor next time.
The concept is great. But it didn't blow my mind. I wish the food was hotter when we received it. The flavor was good but all familiar flavors. Nothing out of turn ordinary. The service was great! Very kind. I asked my son if he would want to come back and he said "maybe". For context my son is a sushi LOVER!
Flavors are on point! And super refreshing for the warm weather. I loved pairing it with the spicy cucumber salad. Great balance of flavors. I also enjoyed that the rice and protein had great ratios! I hate when one is more than the other and this place got it right :) next time I'm back in the area I'm def going to get more! Additionally, the service was excellent! Really sweet and helpful.
I just stopped by for drinks as I was thirsty and sadly Tea Otter is permanently closed. I got the Yuzu Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade. It was easy to order on the iPad screen and drinks came out fast. They were tasty and refreshing but the size of the drinks are small. My kids kept stealing my strawberry lemonade though so it was that good! I'd love to come back and try their food sometime.
My little mentee picked this spot for a snack so we came to check it out. OniGuru is located at the SteelCraft food hall in Garden Grove. There is plenty of parking in the city's public lot. There was a young man at the front doing nothing, didn't even say hi, didn't even try to take any orders. You order at the kiosk. My mentee asked if he tried or recommended something, and he was just like... quiet. They don't even have that many flavors, just crab, kbbq, salmon, shrimp, tuna and vegan. It's not that much to remember. Or even if you didn't eat it, what's popular? *Shake my head* If you come here, don't expect for it to be authentic. It's more of a fusion play on rice balls. We both went with the OniGuru Rice Ball Trio ($13.50) and this comes with 3 rice balls of your choice. My mentee picked the crab, tuna mayo, and spicy salmon (extra $0.50) and I went with the shrimp, spicy tuna mayo, and kbbq beef (extra $0.50). The food took a while to prepare. It was visually appearing. There was a decent amount of protein for being a rice ball, but the taste was mediocre. I liked the shrimp the most and the spicy tuna the least out of the items I ordered. The kbbq was not awful but it wasn't as good as I anticipated. When I came to return the tray I saw another struggling customer trying to ask staff questions and the young man looked as confused and unresponsive as he was with me so I actually told the other customer that I liked the shrimp to help them out. The food was a 3.5 but the awful service made it easy for me to decide to round down. I might have had a better experience with just the kiosk than someone standing there but not being helpful or responsive.

For roughly $5 each, its just a rice triangle shaped with filled protein. Not sure if we got the last batch of rice but rice was mushy and stale and it just falls apart. The tuna was so fishy, again, like it's been sitting in the fridge for a long period of time. Don't get me wrong, service was okay but the food, I wouldn't come back here. Vibes were cool, great place to hangout but the food is not it. Unless you're drinking and getting drunk, sure but if anything head to Junbi in Irvine, grab a matcha drink and their trio onigiri plate.

I got 3 onigiri ; their salmon teriyaki, tuna mayo, and spicy tuna mayo. The salmon teriyaki was my favorite, it was delicious. The tuna mayo was pretty good, but i was not a fan of the spicy tuna mayo. The rice was not the softest, which is tastier for onigiri in my opinion, and the seaweed was a little chewy, the presentation also didn't look as amazing as other places Ive gone too. They have a wide menu of other types and drinks.

My favorite was the spicy tuna which had a mild but good amount of kick to it. I also liked the salmon and thought the saltiness was great. The bulgogi is super shredded and not what I expected from bulgogi (lacked the sweetness and a little more salty than normal) but not too bad although that was probably my least favorite.

There was a lot of excess water that was in the plate it was served in, so most of the salt got washed off. I definitely was not a fan of this spot. After trying the Onigiri spot in the University Town Center, I am would not be making the drive to this spot. The service here was not great. We ordered off a kiosk and got our food after someone else that ordered after us.
Stumbled upon onigiru from their bright onigiri orange lights on the other side of the stage. The food is fresh and approachable. The onigiri was kind of like a spam musubi with meat in the middle, triangle formed and with a nice piece of seaweed wrapped. Goes well with the brewery nearby. The poke was great sized and appealing, thank you to the two gals in front with a warm smile and good suggestions. Would come back! read more
i was craving some onigiri, so i found this spot online when i was in the area and placed an order for pickup. it's located in a little market-style food park with a bunch of other food options and plenty of seating, so it's a nice place to hang out with friends, family, or even just spend some time on your own. this shop reminded me a lot of ricebunn in irvine, with the menu and packaging feeling almost identical. i'm not sure if they're related at all, but just something to note if you're familiar with that shop. regardless, the quality of the food was really good and filling. i ended up getting the quartet with the salmon, crab, spicy tuna mayo, and shrimp, and all were delish! read more

We stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge and I wanted to order something that 1) could be delivered 2) my daughter would eat. The food arrived almost exactly on-time. We ordered the KBBQ, Beef, Salmon and Tuna Mayo. All four was perfect - and they stayed together pretty well. The rice wasn't mushy, and was perfect and stayed together about 90%. The shrimp was actually pretty yummy and they were the perfect size to pack about 4-5 in the Onigiri. The Salmon and Tuna wasn't fish and was very flavorful. Overall this was a good thumbs up! The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is that on a few, the seaweed was put in the wrong spot and under the parchment paper? Also, the size of the seaweed wasn't the same size as the photos? Which looked like it was much larger than the onigiri - which is perfect for wrapping. Of course, the seaweed shrank because it took in moisture of the rice. It would have been good to have the seaweed completely separated so that it would have been crunchy - like the combini onigiri that has a plastic wrap that separates the rice from the seaweed - therefore preserving the crunchiness of the seaweed. We ordered the Lemonades - Strawberry and Yuzu - and both were perfect and not too sweet! Overall I would say yes to the food. Unfortunately I cannot speak for the ambiance as i had my order delivered. read more

My first visit here, i was not too impressed. The rice was room temperature, the seaweed was limp, the toppings were only on top, and I essentially just paid for fistful of compressed rice with less than 1 oz of meat. I decided to visit SteelCraft again and took some oniguru back home. They have improved a lot. Their meat is now included inside their rice so you're getting about 3 oz of meat now. The rice is warm and flavored with furikake and sesame seeds. The only reason why I could not give 5* is because of the kbbq beef flavor. Its so dry and the whole thing fell apart in my hands. I ate only about 1/2 because the other 1/2 fell into my car somewhere. read more

I based my rating on comparing this to other onigiri places. This place has a really great ambience because it's part of the steel craft dining area in Garden Grove, which has a large seating area and a little games for people to play and secluded more quiet areas as well to sit. There's also plenty of parking in the back. When I arrived to this location, the people are really nice very friendly and very helpful. I chose a 4 onigiri combo. I pick three and let the server choose the last one and they made some amazing choices for me. But let's move onto the food. They had some pretty good choices. Everything seemed fresh. However, I did not like the tuna as much as I thought but the one they recommended the teriyaki salmon was amazing. Now normally because of this, I would just give it average 4 stars because it's a pretty solid place, however, the garlic Parmesan shrimp was so amazing. I think it is one of the best tasting I have ever had compared to other locations. Their KBBQ was also one of my favorites onigiri. Then I'm giving this place a five stars. Overall, I would be coming back here for some of their rice bowls, and to try their vegan options read more

Stopped by for a quick bite and ended up ordering their Onigiri Quartet set. Tried the Tuna Mayo, Crab Salad, Garlic Parmesan Shrimp, and Spicy Salmon. Tuna Mayo was classic and super satisfying. Their tuna is creamy but not soggy, and the mayo adds a nice richness to it. Their Crab Mayo has a mild, slightly sweet crab flavor and a smooth texture. Doesn't taste overly artificial like some imitation crab. The Garlic Parmesan Shrimp had the most subtle flavor. Lightly seasoned with a nice texture. It didn't stand out as much, but it was enjoyable. The Spicy Salmon was my favorite of the four. Salmon was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. Just wish it had more of a spicy kick to it. The rice in all of them was well seasoned and not too sticky, and the nori was not too soggy. Perfect for eating on the go, and everything tasted fresh. Price is reasonable, service was quick, and I always enjoy the cozy, outdoor seating area of Steel Craft. I'll definitely be back. Great spot if you're looking for something quick, tasty, and not heavy. read more
OniGuru is located at the SteelCraft in Garden Grove. We came on a Sunday around noon and it was bustling with a live band playing which was enjoyable to watch while we ate our food. I got the trio with spicy tuna, spicy shrimp, and salmon. None of them were noticeably spicy but the flavor wasn't bad. They all had protein on top and inside the rice. Unfortuantely, I wasn't a fan of the tuna as I'm pretty sure it's canned. The salmon didn't stand out to me much either. The shrimp was good though. I also got a cucumber salad on the side and it was really good. If there's one thing I would come back to, it's the cucumber salad. Food: 6.5/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Price: $$ read more

I'm not sure how this place has such good rating. Service was non-existent. Food wasn't good and didn't taste authentic. Ingredients were low quality. When I arrived, the place had no one there, so it was pretty weird. It was uncertain if they were even open or if they received your order. You order everything on a self-serve screen. Then when the food is done, someone pops out from the back, puts the food on the counter, and then disappears. * Spicy Shrimp 1/5 - The spicy shrimp tasted weird in both taste and texture. It didn't taste like shrimps. I couldn't even finish it. * Spicy Tuna Mayo 2/5 - This was just canned tuna mixed with mayo and had some Sriracha drizzled on it. * KBBQ Beef 3.5/5 - Tasted okay, best out of the 3 onigiris ordered. read more

Wanted to give OniGuru a try as I have never eaten from here in SteelCraft. Was disappointed that these are not made with sticky, sushi rice. On the first bite, my triangle became a rice pile that I had to finish eating with a fork. I had the tuna, salmon, and KBBQ. KBBQ was the most flavorful, however the beef tasted more like birria, wasn't mad about it. The tuna tasted like a tuna salad I could make from home, nothing exciting there. Salmon was better than tuna, but has a 'canned' flavor that is very present. Unfortunately, this is not a spot I would return to, regarding the food and the combativeness of the person that is on the 'OniGuru Team' replying to the Yelp reviews here. Try offering some real time solutions instead of arguing with your customers. Back to The Barrio I go! read more
Recently stopped by the Steelcraft in Garden Grove and tried OniGuru for the first time. Service was friendly and efficient. The onigiri were tasty and had a solid selection to choose from. We ended up ordering two of the Onigiri Quartets and it was more than enough to share among our small group. Overall, a good first experience. During our visit, we tried the following onigiris: - Garlic Parmesan Shrimp - Crab Salad - Spicy Crab Salad (which was extremely spicy!) - KBBQ Prime Beef All were delicious, but the Garlic Parmesan Shrimp was our favorite. Our only gripe with the order was that there was an excessive amount of rice, especially for the price point. Other than that, we were pleased. OniGuru is one of the more creative options within Steelcraft in Garden Grove. We would definitely order from them again in the future. read more

Wanted to try the new onigiri spot! I had high hopes but the price was crazy for the portion size. It was like 80% rice and 20% filling. The rice ball was falling apart as I ate it. It think it was too hot it didn't set in the mold & it made the seaweed soggy. It's located in Steel Craft Garfen Grove, so there lots of parking and seating too. I hope they make changes to the price or update how they make the onigiri (: read more

The food wasn't bad but not worth. My total came out to almost $20 for their OniGuru Rice Ball Quartet. Why they charge extra for salmon and beef when neither of those type of protein are considered "premium." For reference, I got: - Spicy KBBQ Beef - Spicy Tuna Mayo - Spicy Shrimp - Spicy Salmon None of them were spicy. For the falling rice, it can be easily fixed if they made it with sushi rice. It was an unpleasant experience because all my food kept falling. And I know the owners come to the comment to back it up by saying they provide chopsticks and fork but this is a food meant to be eaten with your hands. For service, no one was there because you just order from a kiosk but the lady that came out with the food seemed friendly! For the ambiance. it is located at SteelCraft so there's plenty of seating and activities to do while you wait for your food. read more

Offers a good mix of choices for your mainstream Japanese cuisine but onigiris are always amazing (and it's only been the second spot I've seen to sell it!). It's better than the rodeo 39 option- they filled it up more and more flavorful. I liked the kbbq (bulgogi beef) over the teriyaki salmon. Check it out if you're in the area. Delicious onigiri in the Steelcraft market area. Perfect for a quick bite. They have a variety of different flavors and the two I tried, teriyaki salmon and garlic parmesan shrimp, were both very flavorful, well-seasoned, and the sushi rice was warm. Service: Order on a tablet, got a text and it was ready in 10 minutes I've throughly read the reviews and the owner's responses, so I understand that they're going for something contemporary by making it a hot food with no rice vinegar. However, the rice is truly too mushy to enjoy and it makes the seaweed soft. I did get a fork as the owner suggested to other people. Even so, there is an issue with texture aside from the composure of this commonly known finger food. The filling itself was pretty good and it was mostly on the top which did result in a messy eat, which I did not mind. If you order the spicy version of a filling, it'll just be with sriracha on the side. I think it'll be much more enjoyable if the sriracha was already mixed in with the filling. Overall, I really wanted to like it but I couldn't even finish it. read more
Great spot for some delicious Onigiris! OniGuru is a small food stand located at the SteelCraft Garden Grove eatery area. There is tons of seating in the area and is a pretty cool spot to eat and hang out! I had the kbbq beef, salmon and tuna onigiris. It's nice that they offer sets of 3/4 in case you want to try multiple and save a few dollars, or are trying with someone else. They're $5-$6 but you can save a bit by getting the set. They also offer onigiri bowls if you're looking for something heavier! My favorite would definitely be the teriyaki salmon, but I also enjoyed the other two! Great delicious flavor in each bite, and a good size for the price. I'd definitely be back if I'm in the area! read more
