Definitely the most relaxing place to hang out and people watch during the summer in the inner city area, and bettered only by Onondaga Lake Park (totally different) in the wider region.

We parked on the East Bay Drive entrance (which has a very steep but short climb to view the bluffs). Please note the east entrance to the Bluff Trail has a limited number of parking spots with two porta-potty units instead of a full restroom. This is NOT the main entrance to the state park (which offers a larger parking lot and picnic benches). Although we did not have enough time to explore the other sections of the park or walk the full 1.3 miles of the Bluff Trail, I think the dramatic view of the drumlins with Lake Ontario in the background was more than worth the 1 hour drive from Penn Yan (on Keuka Lake) where we stayed for vacation. Another benefit of parking on the east end of the Bluff trail is that you have convenient walking access to Dragon View Beach (a popular spot to go swimming in the summer).

There is a playground with a sandpit for kids, a nice pavilion, and plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic. Parking is available in metered lots, but it's free if you have a state park pass. The waterfalls change with the seasons and weather, which makes every visit a little different. One thing to keep in mind lately is the increase in ticks, so just come prepared. Cooler among the trees still warm and periodic deer flies to annoy but a quiet fresh air walk we truly enjoyed. The return half of the trail follows the lake with several nice lookout spots some with benches and a nice breeze as well. About an hour later we emerged cleaned our shoes at the station to prevent transference of invasive species. Had we seen this before entering would have done the same before entering. We have been going here for many years and always enjoy.

I came here a few times as I was staying not to far away, to get in my daily runs while in town. Huge parking lot, nice big paved paths and roads for everyone. And they keep this park super clean and well maintained. Shout out to the workers here, they do a tremendous job!! Everyone I encountered during my runs were friendly. I'm not sure if you can run around the whole lake, which is huge by the way. I was always pressed for time when I was here, so I didn't go as far as I would have liked. They also have the Salt museum, a playground, and a trolley here. I wish I was able to spend more time here, definitely a great park!!

Be prepared for crowded trails on the weekends, including many people walking their dogs. If you can get there during the week, there'll be a lot less people. Most of the crowd is around the first lake. If you make the long lake loop it becomes a lot less populated. The signage could be better, if this is your first time, get a trail map or you can wind up walking around in a loop
