It was late when I checked in, (long drive with problems I won't get into) Anyway I read the 2 previous reviews and was very cautious about coming here. WOW! Was I surprised! Rooms have all been upgraded, gorgeous, I'm glad I stopped. $88 bucks witch I didn't think was bad at all... Bathroom has been remodeled New furniture, cable Flat Screen TV. Hey I'm good! I would recommend this place. I always leave a Tip for Housekeepers when they do a nice job. I left a Tip here also.

However, the gentleman that were there that evening we showed up, seem to be very put out by the fact that we even arrived. They were not any more helpful in the morning. Breakfast was almost nonexistent and consisted of automated pancakes, an open container of milk shared among all the guests, and a limited selection of cereal. The toilet ran constantly until my father took the lid off and fixed the chain inside of it. The room itself was outdated with damaged walls and stained carpets. On the plus side they are pet friendly, and they do have two separate locations where you can plug in a vehicle or a boat. One has a regular wall outlet and slow charges, the other has a 110 and 240 outlet. Not sure what type of plug you need for the 240 outlet but it is not an Nema 1450. We were able to get a decent amount of charge off of the 110 outlet though. It also does not have the safety issues we encountered at the other pet friendly hotel in town the last time we were there. This location is in the middle of nowhere so if you have to stay here and have a pet or an EV, this is the lesser of 2 evils.

I would give this place seven stars if I could. We absolutely loved it!…read more Visited family in Kirksville just up the road for the first time. We've been traveling a lot lately and I was looking for something out of the ordinary, different from the usual corporate hotel stay ~ and boy did we find it at the Depot Inn & Suites! We stayed in the Sportsman Suite, one of four special themed suites. It was spacious, has a terrific jacuzzi tub with plentiful, very hot water, fireplace, big screen TV plus a second screen dedicated to train TV and more. Very comfortable bed and plush linens. Enjoyed playing billiards a few times during our stay, as well as their complimentary breakfast, which includes make-your-own fresh waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage, a variety of bread products, oatmeal, fresh fruit, packaged pastries, yogurts, juices, milk, chocolate milk, teas and coffee. More than sufficient and certainly more than an average "continental" breakfast. Lastly, their staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Shoutout in particular to Sonya, who may be the most welcoming and delightful service provider I've ever encountered. She was so sweet and warm during our entire stay. I'm just sorry she wasn't on shift when we left so I missed thanking her one last time. Thanks, Sonya! Hope to see you next time.

Have stayed here I think 6 times in the past few years and never had a problem. If you're interested in trains and railway this is the perfect place to stay. Next time I might leave Chicago on #3 Amtrak and get a car rental.

We stayed at Honey Creek this past weekend. I like to try and make 2 to 3 trips there a year to go…read morefishing. This time was with my whole family. I wanted to check it out since I hadn't been there since the new management company took over. The hotel was good, friendly staff, clean room, no pool yet but we knew that going in that renovations had not been finished. Harbor 72.. I was saddened to see that they moved the comfortable outdoor couches and patio furniture off of the patio and replaced it with restaurant seating tables. I always enjoyed sitting on the couches and having a beer with my dog on the patio watching the busyness off the lake. That was the other thing we were told our dog could not be on the patio with us. I understand he would not be allowed in the restaurant as he is not a service dog just a family pet but I thought he would be fine outside on the patio with us as we ate our supper. If you are going to have a dog friendly hotel and would like those people to patron your restaurant I would think it would be a wise choice to allow a place for people with dogs to eat. The food was sub par, we got breadsticks and pizza. Pretty sure the breadsticks were frozen with a little butter and garlic salt sprinkled on and put in the oven for a bit. The pizza was edible but nothing to write home about. The Busch light draft was fantastic, nice and cold. The last thing I will say is the docks. We came in late from fishing and had a few fish to clean. There were no lights on. It wasn't a huge deal we just had to use our cell phones and find the light switch for the docks. The pump for the fish cleaning station kept tripping the GFI plug so we had to use a bucket of water to clean up our fish gut mess. I won't hold too much against them yet. They have been reopened for a short period and maybe still figuring a few things out. I will be back in May, I hope to see some improvement, because I love Rathbun lake and I do think Honey Creek could be an amazing place.

Our stay at Honey Creek Resort was overall decent. The rooms were fairly clean, reasonably priced,…read moreand the staff was friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, our experience at Harbor 72 was a completely different story, and the food was the biggest disappointment of our stay. The food was extremely overpriced for the quality. The sweet corn appetizer was especially disappointing--it tasted like frozen corn with very little seasoning or flavor. The macaroni and cheese was incredibly bland and surprisingly had almost no flavor at all. The steak was the opposite--it was extremely over-seasoned with what tasted like a heavy steak dry rub. The seasoning was so overpowering that I had to scrape most of it off just to eat the steak. The garlic mashed potatoes were also extremely heavy on the garlic salt. There was so much that the flavor was completely overpowering, and I couldn't eat them. I really wanted to love Harbor 72, especially given the resort setting, but the food simply did not justify the prices. The resort itself was fine, and the staff was nice, but based on our experience, I would skip the restaurant or seriously reconsider ordering a full meal there.
