The bed in the Royal Red Room was very comfortable, multiple types of pillows are provided so you can pick the one that best suits your needs, and the bathroom is very well appointed. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Virginia is a lovely host - present if you want her to be, and absent if you don't, which is something some other B&B's haven't figured out. :) The Stone Mansion is in a convenient location and much more comfortable than the hotels in the area. We can't wait to have a reason to stay there again!

When I used my phone to see our lodging options, I resigned myself to sleeping somewhere resembling low income housing. Then I saw the B&B tab on TripAdvisor and the McNeill Stone Mansion B&B was presented with beautiful rooms just across the street. Gary and Virginia were very accommodating to our up in the air schedule, the rooms and mansion are beautiful, and the breakfast is fantastic. Take the time to get to know the history of the home and look through the numerous before and during photos of its restoration. I don't know when we will be back, but we will be back. I apologize for the photos. My next review should be of the image handling of an iPhone. I'm tired of fighting the image rotation.

We are seniors but it really didn't hurt us to traipse stairs. Only mention it as employee leaving walked right by us without an offer of help. My grandsons know better. We will stay again in 2 years when we come to Iowa for final graduation....on the first floor.

Here's the low down I messaged on Facebook. There is no customer service number for such problems since they are locally owned. I am not going back to the blond manager - she is mean as a snake. Here's what I sent on Facebook messenger - if only just to make my tired butt feel better. ***** I have had the worst stay at Knoxville Iowa location & the management told me to contact you by finding my own number to contact you. What kind of business are you guys running here? We have 2 rooms checking in yesterday to today - and have had nothing but issues. Dirty towels, broken toilet (non-stop running), family of 10 above us (8 kids - they took up the entire pool & left us the hot tub) no breakfast by 8:41am, loud mattresses and...no $25 gift card as promised by your website when I made the reservations. I have called the reservation line & they told me that I "should" get an email in 48 hours but I AM TIRED. No sleep since 4:30 am. The management was no help at each step. The only thing they helped me with was the dirty towels. This hotel is not even full. The "manager" or blond haired lady told me to find my own customer service online. No compassion for someone who is terribly tired and underserved. We spent over $300 staying here - and need some customer service. Is there any or is this it? My final review - Stay in Pella. It is not that much further & you will get way better service. And...don't fall for any deals made on the website - each site is privately owned & refuses to participate. Caveat Emptor

What a fortunate turn of events for the four of us. Turns out that Pella is a very nice place to spend some time and our mini vacation was made doubly enjoyable by the extraordinary hospitality offered at The Cheesemaker's Inn. Rob and Kim have mastered the art of accommodation. Every need is satisfied. The rooms are exceptionally clean, tidy and well decorated. They provided a small but pleasant sitting room off the upstairs bedrooms where we could brew coffee or tea, snack on cookies, and help ourselves to refrigerated soft drinks while chatting or reading the paper. Breakfasts are something to look forward to at this inn. We have stayed at any number of B&B's and have generally been served a good meal from the kitchen. But Kim's skill in the kitchen is above par. Homemade bread? Yes. Garden herbs? Expect it. Fresh ingredients prepared and presented in a simple but elegant way? You bet. And best of all, their guest service is unpretentious and welcoming. It's as though you were neighbors from down the road or a relative from across town. Just a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
