Family Medical Associates At the Veranda - In a room waiting for doc

I've been forwarded to a supervisor but not given a name and there is no name on their voicemail. My Dad is in the hospital with a severe uti. I am upset/irritated at the level of "care" he received from his Dr on Wednesday (4-8). Dad had been having severe pain in his back to the point he couldn't stand and couldn't walk more than a few steps. I called and got him into dr Jackson's office at the Veranda were he would see the PA Stacey Barnes that afternoon. When the PA came in the room she said she was really busy and asked what needed to be addressed. She never examined him, never listened to his heart or lungs, never touched him or ventured more than a few steps in the room. She said she would prescribe a lidocaine patch. My Dad went to another area of the veranda to have his diabetic eye and foot check. Before we checked out I called my daughter, who works at the pharmacy, to see if the prescription had been filled and was ready for pickup. She said it hadn't been called in. At this point it was an hour and a half since he had seen the PA so when we checked out I asked the girl to check and see if the prescription had been called in yet, she called the PA Barnes who said she had forgot to call it in, but called it in at that time. When we get to cvs it had not been filled because it was called in without any directions and they couldn't dispense the medicine without it. They had already called the drs office and were waiting on a call back. That was Wednesday. CVS (my daughter personally) has called and left messages since then and not one person has called the pharmacy to get this filled. It is now Sunday! We spent all day in the er Saturday and he was kept overnight and will be again tonight. Monday is his 88th birthday and he has to wake up in a hospital. All it would have taken was a urinalysis or maybe longer than 1 minute spent actually looking and listening to the patient and this could have been caught and maybe he wouldn't have had to be hospitalized. At the very least he wouldn't have had to suffer three more days until he asked to go to the hospital. If you're too busy to actually care for your patient , maybe this isn't the career for you. Im sure you all weren't too busy to bill Tricare and medicare though right?

I feel better right now than I have in years. I thank Dr Joe Jackson for this. He takes good care…read moreof me and is very easy to talk to. He listens and he responds to my needs quickly. Thank you everyone at the Veranda for your great service.

A little background on my injury: In late August 2013 I was stacking pallets in the loading dock at my job. Little did I know that the pallet jack in which the pallets were located on was raised. A pallet that I tried to stack on top slid off and cause me to fall on the floor. A subsequent visit to the MRI I almost completely tore my left quadricep tendon off of my patella, suffered major contusions, and also sprung my ankle. I was required to have surgery in order to walk again. I had surgery the following month; it was successful. He installed a suture anchor into my leg which slowly helps the tendon reconnect to the kneecap. Was forced to wear a hinged leg brace and use crutches (later a cane) for about six months. After lots of physical therapy and doctor's appointments, I was slowly able to walk on my own again. My leg is no longer 100%, but at least I know that I am back to peak strength again and that I'm finally done with my routine checkups with Dr. Pilcher. I highly recommend Dr. Pilcher. He's been doing this for over 30 years and is very knowledgeable about the musculoskeletal system. He got me back to living a normal life again.

I can say I think Dr. Pilcher does good work and there is a young lady named Jenifer who is a great asset to his company. She schedules appointments for surgery and has always been helpful to me and my family every time we go in. If you need an orthopedic Doctor or surgeon go to Dr. Pilcher and say Hello to Jenifer.
