This review is long overdue but I felt it was so necessary for anyone who is on the fence about joining One Life. I was referred by a close friend who saw a lot of success with the program - this was at a time when I felt like I had tried everything; weight watchers, keto, whole 30, counting calories without taking into account the entire nutritional makeup, specialty gyms, personal trainers, etc. I couldn't understand why I wasn't losing the weight and so I thought I'd give One Life a try. If you are on the fence - DO IT. Make your first appointment. I will change your life; it simplifies weight loss into a way that's really easy to follow and that teaches you for long term success. Ashley and Dr Haynes have been incredibly supportive and I look forward to my visits every week. It was the first time I was able to lose 10 lbs without being hungry. It really is a lifestyle change that was made easier by journaling about what I was eating and recognizing my feelings when I was tempted to go off my eating plan. Checking in with s counselor once a week was also motivating. The medicine and B 12 shot were helpful, but not if you allowed too many carbs into your diet. All in all it was the first time in 10 years that I was actually able to lose that unwanted 10 lbs! I was hesitant on joining because I didn't need to lose much weight and kept thinking I could do it on my own--but this was a wonderful way to learn new eating habits--and it really worked! The nice thing is that if I start to gain a few pounds, I can get back on track by singing up for another week or two, in order to get my eating habits back in control! Sugar is not my friend--so I avoid it as much as possible. It is much easier to control my hunger when sugar is alleviated! Also I had been eating too many nuts--although they are healthy, I learned to only have 10 almonds and not a handful. Tips like this were what helped me get my snacking under control. Also waiting 15 minutes to let my stomach tell my brain I was satisfied! In other words, slowing down and chewing more thoroughly. Here is a copy of the "Thank You" letter I recently wrote to them: January 31, 2011 Dear Dr. Haynes and All of the Wonderful Staff at One Life Diet, It is so hard to put into words all that you have given me in just four short months. I have struggled with my weight for over 10 years, often moving up and down the scale, while trying every diet that was ever concocted. They were either too complicated or my cravings were just too strong to bear. I still remember starting the program last October, 2010. It was right after we had finished the 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser at my house. We are always so pleased to have you as one of our major sponsors. I was finally motivated enough to lose weight. My aunt was pretty sick with Stage IV cancer and my son was starting to grow up. I think the gals and Doc at One Life are the bee's knees. Love them all. I own a jewelry store on Cedros so to be honest I was lazy picking out a place nearby for help. But they have been terrific. I've lost a little more than 10lbs in the last 3 weeks with tons of support and very few lifestyle changes. I was a skinny girl living within a fat body... That was me 20 months ago! Being short has it advantages but it also has it's disadvantages, one being every pound shows. DANGEROUS DIET BE CAREFUL Folks out there this is crazy that the doctor tried to justify things. Hence added my picture for proof. They never did my blood work before this diet- even the nurse MICHELLE admitted that others had lost their hair also. Not only after I went off the diet did I have loss hair but all of the skin on my hands peeled and two nails came off completely. I have been a patient of Dr. Haynes for about 7 months now and it has been the most rewarding experience. I have never been severely overweight or obese, but I have always been a person whose weight fluctuated and I gained about 25 pounds after getting my first job out of college. I finally figured out how to manage my weight through One Life at age 52. I wish I'd done this sooner. I would have never stepped foot in that door as it looks expensive - but I met someone who told me how it's affordable (you eat at home more in the beginning and you eat less - so that's a cost savings) and it's sort of a combo of all the best diet programs and there's no commitment or "restart" fee if you drop off. It's got points like WW, it's low carb like Atkins or Keto (but you CAN eat carbs!!), it's got the appetite suppressant option like most diet docs offer and it's a better version than your mom might have used in the 1960's (and don't believe the pill is bad for you - being fat is bad for you and strains your heart and causes diabetes, etc), there's a bit of snack food for sale but not required at all like Medifast/Optavia, and the weekly weigh in and learning is truly eye opening. I post it on my fridge every week and the whole family learns. We still review my food journal weekly to understand the number on the scale. I love it because It's real food from my house or from a restaurant. I can eat Mexican food - but now I count my chips rather than eating the whole basket. The weekly handouts change your thinking about things like exercise, vacationing, alcohol, and why dropping carbs for a few days can reduce carb cravings. etc. I followed the program a year ago and lost 25 pounds in about 3 months (they say my results are above average). I've lost a few more since then, and I've had bad weeks, too. But I went in to lose 30 and I did it -- and kept it off a full year now. I am 47 years old and have always struggled with my weight. The idea of it made me nervous, and I thought I would never do anything like this weight loss program. If you notice, I have lots of yelp reviews for restaurants, so it's not terribly surprising that along with all of the good food that I eat, I also was carrying around some extra weight that I did not want anymore. When a friend recommended One Life, I was resistant, because I'm not a fan of diets. I work out a lot already, and thought I knew how to eat. But when I hit a number on the scale that freaked me out, I decided to act. Can't tell you how happy I am that I did. Dr. Haynes and his team are as supportive as you can be, and the program is really an anti-diet. It makes total sense to me, I never felt deprived, and I lost the weight safely over several months. I can't even begin to express how much this program has changed my life. I came in August wanting to loose an extra 10 pounds I had been carrying around for a few years. I honestly did not expect the environment to be so welcoming and honest. I met with Dr. Haynes on my first appointment as a "consult" type of session and he explained to me the ins & outs of the program. Not once did he ever mention the word "diet" and that surprised me because that's all I expected to hear. I ended up loosing the 10 pounds within the first 2 months while working full-time and all the other responsibilities I have. What I mean is that it works for every day and every meal. It doesn't restrict you to anything really. On days I know I'll be going out to dinner with friends, I'll eat zero block meals and then "splurge" at dinner. Dr. Haynes is an amazing human being who really does care about ALL of his patients and their well being. His attitude is carried out with the rest of the women that work there as well and have been nothing but welcoming and caring. I usually meet with Michelle every week and adore her. She always has something positive to say about whatever I am going through and doesn't ever let me reflect on the negative. Amazing. I would recommend One Life to anyone who is struggling with stubborn weight gain and getting frustrated with not seeing results. I am a current patient of Dr. Haynes at One Life in Solana Beach. The business' name says it all! We have ONE LIFE, and for most of mine I felt like I was trapped in the wrong body. I was both drawn and put off by One Life's claim at their ability to produce rapid and significant weight loss. But after languishing halfway through my weight loss for the last year I decided to give it a try - and I blew my weight loss out of the water. I lost 15 pounds the first week alone, and seven the second. I dropped 35 pounds so quickly and easily, I couldn't resist and reset my goal for another 10 pounds! And of course, all the fringe benefits of weight loss have kicked in - my knee problems have all but gone away, my back is giving me no problems whatsoever, and clothes have never been so freaking fun to wear. Everyone on the One Life staff is a pleasure to work with. They are knowledgeable and motivating. The program worked for me and I sent 4 people to One Life who were also successful in the program. The only caveat was the app. In today's digital world, it is inconvenient to hand write everything you eat onto a form. The app, while it worked, was an on-the-go convenient tool that not only allowed me to plan my blocks as I ate my meals, but also to do meal planning ahead of time. Despite continual problems with the app, I was able to reach my goal within about 4 months and take what I learned and adapt it into my lifestyle. The app appears to no longer be available so I have to find other apps and try to adapt them to the plan. It's not ideal. I am a marketing professional so things like a strong app, good support and resources on social media, and a website offering continuous resources are important to me. But none of these are strong areas with One Life. One major component this plan is missing is an affordable way for past clients to come back in for a refresh. It's been two years since I've been on the plan and I've often thought about returning for the weekly check-in visits for a couple of months but having to pay the full new client "initiation" fee has prohibited me from doing so. It's an expensive plan and there should be an option for those who have gone through the program. All said, the plan worked for me and I looked forward to my visits as if I were seeing friends each week. But I do think these other things are important in providing good customer service and support. read more

The app is very unreliable which makes consistent tracking difficult. App stops working for no reason. Seems like One Life knows this as many clients complain, but the response to fix does not seem like a high enough priority. Very expensive program for the online tracking resource to not work. Paper track is way too outdated for most. read more

The fact One Life exists means no one should be overweight. It is so damned easy everyone should do it. I've never been a large person and I've always been a workout fiend but despite trying all manner of diets I've never been able to lose those pounds the crept on in my 30s, post-kids. The onelife app (that they make you pay $5 for) really sucks! You can't even find chicken breast on the food search menu and the keyboard they use for the site is touchy so it doesn't spell out correctly even after 5th try! It seemed like a great idea but it's more trouble than it's worth! read more
