When the team arrived (late), they told me they had been instructed NOT to attempt the harder job at all. As it was, since I'd be charged for the visit anyway I had them do the easy job (a whopping $850+) and now have to find another plumber for the other job. DO NOT USE THEM.

I ate a $77 fee for an estimate - which no plumber or contractor of any kind has ever asked me for…read more- because the ratings for Vaughan are so high. I feel conned, for two reasons. One, as soon as they showed up they began acting like they didn't want the work. They balked at the fact that I live in a condo within a 3-unit HOA that I would need to coordinate with, and argued with me about the process of gaining their approval (while the numerous contractors we jointly hired for our renos were walking around.) This is 99% of plumbing jobs in Somerville. If it's that much of a problem, don't bother coming in the first place to charge me $77. Second, the estimate price: astronomical. Twice as much as the most expensive quotes I have gotten for this job. Five figures. If you are a very rich owner of a single-family home, Vaughan might be an option - the ratings here say they are talented plumbers. Otherwise, save yourself the money, hassle, and headache.

I've lived in my 1920 home for over 43 years, have been with Boston Standard for years and it is by…read morefar the best company to work with. Every job Boston Standard has done in my multi-family house (and there have been many) has been easy to schedule, the technicians show up on time, are knowledgeable, professional, friendly and you know they are going to take care of your home as if it was their own. I also really appreciate the heads up text messages confirming the appointment and when the technician will arrive including his/her photo in the message! They also use booties coming in and out of your home/apartment. Along with the service contract, they come in to do a yearly inspection and with a multi-family home it saves us a lot of money. Today, technician Chris Tighe checked everything in all the units - sinks, tubs, shower heads, toilets, disposal, the basement water heaters, pipes etc... and even the faucet outside! There were a couple of minor issues and he took care of them - a dripping faucet in the shower, a shower head drip and then a toilet was running, so he replaced a part and it wasn't crazy money. He asked lots of questions and explained everything he was doing and looking for. It's just such a relief to know that Chris (a super friendly, knowledgeable guy) was a person I could trust and know that all is operating well in the house. Kudos to the management at Boston Standard. Keep up the good work. My advice to anyone looking for a great plumbing/heating company, give them a call and sign up for a service contract, it's well worth the peace of mind! https://www.bostonstandardplumbing.com/
