I spoke to Pete on the phone and decided to come out and meet him and see his facility. Pete's facility is the most professional set up I have seen. Kennels were clean and the knowledge that Pete has made me feel at ease leaving my girl behind with him. He truly loves what he does and cares for the dogs he takes in. Pete was honest with me in the fact that my dog lacked drive to be a motivated gun dog so I made the decision to bring her home after 1 month. In the 1 month she stayed to train at Goosebusters she was no longer gun shy and also would pick up live birds which I can continue to work with her on. Most importantly, my dog was happy, healthy and in good spirits when I came to see her. I would leave any of my dogs with Pete which says a lot, I am completely obsessed with my dogs and 100% trust Pete with providing them proper care. I am more educated on how to choose the best potential gun dog and will continue to work with him in the future for training any dogs I have. I can't say enough good things about Goosebusters.

Honest, clean kennels and excellent in what he does. He explains what we need to do to with her in a way that made sense. Pete has Lola where she needs to be and gave us the confidence we can achieve the same results with consistency and the knowledge he has provided. We will use him for all training and all boarding. I have never boarded my dogs anywhere and we have complete confidence in Pete and Jolie. If you are looking for a trainer or a place to kennel, I can not say enough great words about them. (I'm not a big reviewer, but after our experience it was a must.) After a call, I'm sure you will feel the way we did. Thank you guys so much.

Scotch Pines Dog Training & Boarding

This review is for Scotch Pines "Doggy Camp" (Boarding)…read more I recently boarded my dog here, thinking my dog would be taken care of and have fun with other dogs while I was away on vacation - which is exactly what Scotch Pines claims their dog boarding is all about. Happy Happy, Fun Fun. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no way to substantiate these claims - no way for me to make sure my dog was taken care of, had any room to run around and play, was fed adequately, and was not physically abused or neglected - either by other dogs at the "doggy camp" or by the only person (the one man) who is there to run the entire operation. I was not allowed to see the inside of the facility where my dog would be kept. I was not told what my dog would be fed, nor if she would be sleeping in the cold. All I really knew was that dogs were separated according to temperament and that his dog runs had electric fencing to prevent dogs from trying to get out - which he explained as being low voltage and not really harmful to the dogs. He asked if my dog had any feeding requirements and my dog didn't, so I assumed my dog would be fed some normal kind of dry dog food, etc. I didn't think to ask any other questions at the time I dropped her off since the man presented himself as a very confident dog trainer who had been doing this for 30 years. I thought it was odd that he didn't want us to come into the facility to see where she would be kept, and I didn't like that he put a choke collar on her to get her to go into the facility when she tried to pull away from him. But overall he *seemed* like a relaxed, comfortable kind of person, so I didn't think much of it at the time. It wasn't until I came to pick up my dog that I felt something was very, very wrong. I have never seen my dog look so terrified as when he was pulling her out through the doorway to greet us (she was terrified of him). She didn't even recognize me and huddled away from me as if I were a stranger. Essentially, she didn't want to get close to any human being there. It wasn't until she smelled my hand that she knew who I was and started wagging her tail and getting excited to see me. I asked the man if my dog was well-behaved and he said she had been fine. Something in his voice really rubbed me the wrong way when he said, "she still doesn't trust me yet." It seemed like he was hiding something, and I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I paid the man and left with my dog. Upon further inspection, my dog had bite/scratch marks, hair ripped from her ear, and a potential rash on her abdomen. It also appeared that whatever she was being fed was giving her digestive problems, which she's never had with the various kinds of (normal, store-bought) dog food (and even some people-food) I've fed her. She was also very, very dirty and smelled horrible (so did her breath). Now - all I have to think is to question whether or not she was beaten by this man, fed adequately, or neglected and allowed to get in fights with aggressive dogs, etc. Who knows? All I know is that I got my dog from an animal shelter, and even then, when she was in a kennel 95% of the time, she never appeared frightened or scared of any human being, and she never looked or smelled that awful. What did this man do to her to intimidate and terrify her in such a way?? I will NEVER take my dog here again. I can't believe I allowed her to stay there in the first place. It seemed more like a prison than what they claimed it was. Who can know whether this one man, who keeps all of the dogs, is actually taking care of them? It makes me sick to wonder what her stay could have really been like. Scotch Pines Dog Training is ran by the daughter of the man who owns the "doggy camp". 1,000 times over, I will recommend Scotch Pines!!! April Jantz is AMAZING!!! When I adopted a puppy…read morefor all of two days, I reached out to her desperate at like 10 pm. I got a text notification that I should look at the website and was bummed but also glad for clear direction. I went there, saw a 1 day puppy training course and texted to sign up. I got an automated reply saying she was out of town starting that next morning and for the weekend. On a whim and because I was desperate (think newborn baby and no sleep and panic...that's how I was feeling), I texted back a question. Guess what!!!! She replied! At what was now 11 pm, she sent me resources, encouragement and wisdom! And she assured me she'd get me in as soon as she was home!!! I was (and am) BEYOND impressed by her care for me, the puppy and excellent customer service!!! I got her name with glowing recommendations from my friend Amy and now I'll add mine!!! Even though I realized it's not the right time for a puppy in my home, I will 100% use Julie at Scotch Pines when I DO get a dog and I will recommend her every opportunity I get!!!! Go there! You will be so glad you did!!!!

After having some extensive - and themselves very helpful and supportive - text message communications with April, we had her come over this morning to see how she could help us with this issue, particularly important and urgent as we've just recently embarked upon a 7 month family road-trip! April gave us several excellent pointers and examples how we could gradually begin to reshape our dog's phobia - about getting into our SUV - and, much to our amazement and joy, after only 25-30 minutes of direct training (of my wife and I!,) our beloved Golden was not only inside our car but she was laying calmly and seemingly even contentedly being there! THANK YOU, April - we TRULY appreciated your coaching and we'll diligently continue implementing the helpful techniques you opened our eyes to!!
