It is a gorgeous wee shopping centre but I've not really visited many of the restaurants/cafés in there. I headed up to Tinderbox (on the terrace level/second floor) and grabbed a seat in a booth that needed tidying (cups and plates left from the previous diners). As I said for a minute, I then realised there wasn't table service and headed inside to order a peppermint tea. It took about as long as tea normally takes and thankfully by the time I headed back to the terrace the table had been cleaned and was still free. I like the cute wee booths and it would make a nice place for a stop after some Buchanan St/Princes Square shopping. The atmosphere is probably nicer than most cafés due to the lovely bright, airy feeling from being at the top of Princes Square. Even on a dark, glum day it still has a lovely feel to it. Although, if you don't sit on the terrace you will probably feel a bit like a mushroom inside Tinderbox which seems awfully dark and gloomy by contrast. The peppermint tea was perfectly fine, and it was a nice place to spend an hour or so while I got some work done. I left with an a-ok feeling, hence the three star review. Perhaps if they had table service I'd bump them up to a 4.

Its the perfect people watching spot, and seems to be suitable for families, couples, hanging out with friends or doing a bit of work. I would say the inside space is pretty uninspiring and dim, so outside for me. It is self-service which is fine, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a selection of Martha's takeaway food and juice's. I had a skinny latte which was average, and as it was nearly closing time was told this had to be in a takeaway cup. Nothing too exciting to report, however it is handy as a stop off in the centre of town and I will head back to sample some of the pastries and food available.

Although some of the meals appear a little over-priced (five quid for a baked potato), the cafe really excels with its extensive drink choices, while its free wifi and weekly Thursday live music nights ensure it's already making a name for itself. It's a chain of sorts, with branches in Kirkintilloch, Hamilton and Alloa, but a very homely one which represents a far more relaxing refuge than the usual go-to guys.

They also have a bunch of hot drink options like matcha latte and FIVE different types of hot chocolate! You can get cardamom, ginger and orange, chilli and cinnamon, white chocolate, or cadbury's. All except the cadburys (obvs) are made with real ground up chocolate and the flavors are natural ingredients infused into the chocolate (no artificial syrups, yay!). Plus they don't charge you extra for decaf OR soy! It seems to get pretty packed on the weekends and there are only five tables so it can be hard to find a seat on peak sat/sun lunchtimes, but during the week it's a lot quieter and opens up early enough for me to get a coffee on the way to uni. Food wise they do ALL DAY BREAKFAST :D :D :D (french toast with bacon? yes please), lots of things like poached eggs with black pudding, eggs benedict (called eggs cumberbatch on the menu lolz) breakfast bowls with smoked salmon, bagels, etc. They have gluten free bread AND cakes most of the time for all you non-gluten eaters (no extra charge). They have different types of croque monsieurs for lunch with homemade bechamel sauce (mmmmmmm bechamellll) and their vegan sweet potato filo pie is delicious, even for a carnivore like me :P. Cake wise, I'm pretty much addicted to the salted caramel brownies and rarely stray from that choice, but there is always a good selection of things from carrot cake to billionaire's shortbread and bakewell slices (and they're not super expensive either which is so rare in the West End!) He swears by William's and low and behold there was tables available so in we went! It's a tiny little cafe with about 4 tables, can imagine it is packed at weekends. The menu offers great variety for breakfast and lunch & there's a wide selection of different hot drinks available too. They have loads of varieties of hot chocolates and I'll definitely be making a return visit for the white chocolate kind once winter sets in! I opted for the blueberry and chia pancakes whilst my friend got the French toast. The pancakes were huuuuuge and came with a lovely, if a bit small serving of yoghurt. They were fresh and oozed juicy blueberries when cut in to. The chia wasn't obvious through them though. My only criticism was that there was only one person serving and cooking. Although the wait for our food assured us it was fresh, tables were left uncleared and we had to wait a long time to order more drinks. Still not going to stop me coming back to sample some of the home baking but I wouldn't go in for a quick bite if you are starving!

Food This cafe serves quick fast and cheap food, l suppose you can't complain when you can grab a coffee & bacon roll to go here to go for £2. They also do pastas here, panini's and full breakfasts @ £3.95 it so cheap here you wonder how they make a profit. A cup of tea sets you back 60p the same price as the cans of sort drinks. Notes I've not had any of the food here but been in for a coffee and cold drinks to go on a few occasions.

The interior is light and spacious, with nice comfy seats and tables along the windows where you can watch the world go by over a coffee, as well as more conventional seating and tables for more serious eating tasks. The menu is slightly better than the usual standard cafe fare, and reasonably priced too. I only had time for a quick lunch, and the soup and sandwich deal arrived quickly and was just the job. I didn't try the coffee on this occasion, but I certainly intend to return to rectify that omission soon. Free Wi-Fi too!
