I used to bring my girls old stuff here all the time and did well with it. But the last time I dropped a bin off I came back and they badly taken anything and the reason was "low demand" or "stained items". The items they wouldn't take included hardly worn, like new items from the GAP, some still with tags still on. A friend of mine is expecting and I wanted to surprise her with a little gift for her soon-to-be newest addition to the family. I headed over to Once Upon A Child after reading a few reviews on Yelp. Boy was I overwhelmed! Once Upon A Child carries everything from bassinets, cradles, changing tables and toddler beds, to puzzles, strollers, swings, playpens and newborn clothing! I was able to find a couple of super cute gifts in a minimal amount of time and the best part was that I didn't end up breaking the bank when I got to the register ;) Let's summarize: Impressive selection, cute gifts, and all within budget. I went into this store wanting to get a gift certificate for a friend, but I decided to browse a bit. They have quite a selection of bjorn carriers, at $30 each, slings at $20, higher end ones, which usually go for $100 for $50. They had a only a few swings and high chairs, the nicer ones going for around $90. But if you are in need of baby clothes, this is the place to come! They have a huge selection and everything is in great shape! Any color of sleeper you can imagine, they have, along with some really adorable prints, going for $1.50- $5! There was a huge selection of jeans regular price, $10, but a lot of them were on sale for $5. The little sweaters and coats went for around $15- $20. They had quite the selection of robees, all for $30. There was a beautiful cradle, but it was sold. They had a small selection of toys and DVDs. There were even things I had never seen before, like bibs with arms or sleeping bags. The only downside was that the front of the store was disorganized, even though the clothes were very well organized. I know my friend won't have an issue finding some cute stuff here! Needless to say, this place has everything you might need for your little one at great prices! I will definitely make this a regular stop when I have a bean of my own! read more

I just embarassed myself going to this store because I was told that what I thought the pre loved clothes that I brought in are still wearable . I got insulted when I was told that the clothes that I brought in are old style and with marks and stains. first before I brought them in i picked handed the good ones and throw the ones with the stains and obvious marks. Second, I don't think that I drop in garbage! Third I don't think that the people that will come in to buy used clothes would look for a new style, of course they know that they are buying old clothes so i think they don't and won't expect to see new style. Fourth, I brought in mostly branded clothes like Cherokee, Gap, Firefly, Tommy, Abercombie, Levis, H&M, Logg, Mexx, Garage, Gymboree and etc. I don't think that the staff looked and checked carefully and properly. They may not even take it out from the bag. You only judged it by the way I brought it not in the box but in a plastic bag not flat or straightened. I do not expect to be paid , when i brought it in I was surprised that there's this process . BUT I ALSO DO NOT EXPECT TO BE INSULTED WHEN MY INTENTION IS JUST TO DONATE STUFFs. Well it is your lost there are other places that i could donate this pre loved clothes and i'm sure will be happy to take them! read more

I like Once Upon a Child as they have a huge selection of random things I need for my kids at fair prices. I have sold items there in the past and probably won't do it again though. They don't pay the greatest for what they buy and they are extremely inconsistent depending on who is looking at the items. You could bring the same box of clothes back that was rejected by one person only to have another person buy it all...I also don't like that you need to make an appointment to consign...one time it was 4 hours for me to have my items looked at. Overall they are a good place to shop if you have kids and have a great selection with reasonable prices. You can get coupons if you are on their email list. read more

This store is clean and the items are fairly well sorted for a consignment store. I've sold to them a few times and while their payout is not as high as what I've received from other stores, I've always found their service to be quick and polite. read more

This store is unorganized and the people behind the counter are scam artists. They take your items and make you come back hours later to a riffled mess. I brought in all very nice practically new items with no wear and tear and when I can back later they told me that none of my items were worthy of their high and mighty store but when I inspected the bins they gave back there was not as many clothes that I had brought in and everything was a mess. I will never shop in this location and if I could give no stars I would!! They are thieves and scammers just looking to make their dollar. read more

Not so bad if you are a buyer, but as a seller, customer service is appalling and its as if you are putting them out of their way to try and coordinate drop off and pick up of items. They basically give you a 2 hour window later in the day when it is convenient for them to have you pick up your money/items, no negotiation to delay by an hour or two, or even the next day so you can coordinate and plan ahead. If you are a working parent, forget it, as they'll give you no grace period. Don't know how many times I have had to walk back out with my stuff, just because I had to go back to work and couldn't be there to pick up whent they mandated. Very disappointed with their rude staff service and unfair trade! I would have given it a higher rate if I didn't experience the cold and rude service today at the Varsity store. My husband and I have shopped there multiple times since our twins were born last summer. Today, we were trying to sell back two swings that we bought from the store a few months ago. One of them has a foot stool missing, which was how it was when the store sold it to us at the time. The staff gave us a 25% off because of the missing stool. However, when we tried to sell it back today, they rejected it for safety reason. Then why would they sell it to us at the beginning? Wouldn't that be unsafe for our kids? I pointed it out that that was how it was sold to us from them, but we received no response. Ironically, the casher who served us today was the same girl who sold the swing to us, but she didn't say anything either. That wasn't the worst. At the time my husband and I were carrying our twins on us and already purchased two small seats and two doorway jumpers before they told us that we couldn't sell one of the swings. We were planning on walking home by carrying the stuff by hands since it's only a five minutes walk. So I told the cashier, "we can't carry the swing home now, ..." Before I even finished my sentence to explain, another staff, seemingly a manager, threw a few words over, saying, "they have to take it away. We don't have room here." She didn't even look at us while saying it. My husband and I were standing there with our twins and a pile of stuff that we bought there, didn't know what to do with the big swing for a few seconds. Then the cashier noticed that we couldn't carry everything, and said, "You can just move it out and dump it at the garbage area next door." What a suggestion! I was speechless. Eventually, my husband made a second trip back to take the swing home. Raising kids is a hard work, and being a first time mom raising twins on our own is exhausting. I wish our experience at those kids stores could be helpful and pleasant. At least not hurting our feelings like this at Once Upon A Child at Varsity Plaza. I would love to support a baby consignment store like this, but after today's experience, I'll need to look for another store even though it is quite farther from where we live. read more

I'm very disappointed with this place , I brought in a large box of clothing all in good condition, washed and folded nicely , come back 2 hours later like they asked to be offered 52$ for clothes I paid over 300$ for because some weren't high end clothes & ' faded' maybe from washing the clothes duh , then the stuff they couldn't take was all crammed back in the box not folded or anything , I looked around the store before I left to find clothes in horrible conditions, I will never go back here for ANY reason.
