Visibility was pretty solid, and we spotted several fish cruising around. The waves were calm and totally manageable, which made it relaxing instead of stressful. There's also a vigilant lifeguard on duty, which adds a nice layer of peace of mind. Even if you're not snorkeling, it's a great spot to hang out and sunbathe. Seaweed was around but not overwhelming, definitely not like swimming through a kelp jungle.

The only downfall is my husband said he was expecting to go in open ocean and that we didn't need to pay extra for a captain if we're just going to stay in the island. Then at the end we also had to tip the captain. Which was fine because he was cool but keep in mind you don't have to pay for it if you're going to be around the cove. To top this all off after my husband left a review they called my husband asking him to change his review and exchange they will give him two hour free yacht ride, so we can go in the open ocean. We tried so many times contacting them, they told us let us know when is a good day. After us letting them know, he told us he will let us know when is a good day for him THIS month. I had told my parents we would take them on a yacht ride, so now I look dumb because it is the end of the month and the guy never got back to me on Instagram, over text we tried contacting them. So, now I have to go back and leave a review because it just wasn't right for them to do that. I'm leaving some pictures of the conversation me and the company had over Instagram. These are not the messages that my husband had separately with them as well. RESPONSE TO THE NOW DELETED COMMENT: never said I didn't have fun, my friends were there, we brought our drinks and captain was nice. A man is only as good as his word and obviously now you're lying and saying myself and everyone else on the boat was drunk. Of course we would want to take advantage of another yacht ride to go in the open ocean like he originally planned we were going to take our toddler and my parents so it's really baffling how you're trying to make it seem like it's our fault. It was my birthday and I didn't pay for it so I didn't know what was included in the package I still had fun but I am speaking on behalf of my husband. We just didn't get what we paid for. I went in the morning of a Sunday in January and was able to park for free on Ocean Boulevard. Then it is a beautiful short, walk down a slope and some stairs and then you've reached paradise. It's a small beach, so hopefully as long as it's not too busy you'll be able to get a spot on the sand. I saw a lot of snorkel, which were cool and the tide pools are just crazy Impressive. Just make sure you don't actually touch or take anything in the tide pool or I will be coming after you...

Very easy to navigate and park and pay. It's optional to take the Beachcomber shuttle which was $2 one way, free for kids under 12 I believe. You can load all your beach stuff, but have to fold up strollers and wagons. I had my boogie boards and bags and cooler with me too. Follow the pathway and you'll see cottages/homes. You will also see the BeachComber restaurant and then that leads you right to the beach! Very scenic view. It is kid friendly. However, lots of seaweed though. We enjoyed it! Very different from your typical HB or Newport Beaches. It is an adventure and little more work, but my family enjoyed this new discovery!

The soft sand feels so good and the kids enjoyed playing with it as well. Being California Coast, don't expect ocean water to be warm as it'll never be warm and should not be since it'll be a destruction to the coastal ecosystem if it did. So, be prepared that it'll be cold to chilly depending on the weather of the day impacting change in temperature perception. Parking fills up quick so definitely come early during weekends and during sunset hours.

I do not recommend following the parking structure because you will get stuck and I believe it fit about 30ish cars. Find parking along the street. It was my first time going and I observed and saw people just standing getting feet wet. The lifeguards told me that this is one of the most dangerous beaches in the county. It did take a bit to get the premium bar menu to review - and I really wanted good champagne on the yacht to be served all night long, but they only had prosecco and we weren't able to work together to order nice bottles ahead of time. There was a 2 bottle maximum that was allowed to be brought on board with a $35 corkage - but they allowed me a few more bottles on board which was nice. But would have been nice to know ahead of time vs the day before. I wouldn't say anyone went above and beyond - but service was professional, courteous. Drinks for the premium bar were definitely on par with CA prices. They provided a list of caterers and for my milestone where I wanted French food - recommended Tom's Catering. He has been doing food on board for 20+ years and the food was PHENOMENAL. Guests devoured the food and everything was absolutely delicious. Boat has 3 levels and was able to fit the party nicely. The main floor had the bar and upstairs is where we played games. all in all - everyone had a lovely time, nobody got sea sick.

Despite the name, there definitely aren't 1,000 steps it's closer to about 250 but don't let that fool you. You'll still feel the burn on the way back up! I love bringing my kids here because they're soccer players, and running up and down the stairs is an excellent workout for building endurance and strength. I usually only make it up once because it's no joke! If you're looking for a free cardio workout with a beautiful ocean view, this is the place. The beach itself is gorgeous, with clear water, soft sand, and stunning cliffs surrounding it. It feels a little more secluded than some of the other Laguna beaches because you have to make the trek down the stairs. That's part of what makes it so special. I've visited several times around 6:00 AM, and it's always been peaceful. It's never felt crowded, although you'll definitely see other people getting their morning exercise on the stairs. I've also gone during summer evenings around 7:00 PM, and it's still a beautiful time to visit with cooler temperatures and incredible views. I still need to check it out around midday to see how busy it gets. A couple of things to keep in mind: there are no lifeguards on duty at all times, so be cautious if you're swimming, and the climb back up can be challenging, especially if you're carrying coolers or beach gear. Wear comfortable shoes for the stairs and bring plenty of water. Overall, this is one of my favorite beaches in Laguna Beach. Whether you're going for a workout, relaxing by the ocean, or enjoying the incredible scenery, Thousand Steps Beach is absolutely worth the climb.

Beautiful, clean, peaceful, and just the right amount of relaxation. The water was warm, the lifeguards were attentive, and the overall atmosphere was so serene. Yes, there's some seaweed, but honestly, you can get over that when everything else is this good. There are fire pits, a place to grab a bite right along the beach, and plenty of other restaurants nearby. You can pay to park, or do what I did, park on the street for free and take the walk down. Just be ready for that hill on the way back up! It's definitely a workout, but I'll take it. This beach is one of those places that works for a solo day to reset, family time, or a beautiful date by the water. Hubby and I did a date day, sun kissed and perfect. There's a drop-off area near the beach, and parking was around $10 I believe. Like I mentioned we exercised. Peaceful views, warm water, good energy...this is definitely my kind of therapy.

It is where we did our engagement photos and later our pregnancy photo shoot. It is where I take my dog for walks and where I have spent nights around the fire pits watching some of the most beautiful sunsets in Orange County. The water here also feels warmer than most beaches in the OC, which makes it even better. This place holds a lot of special memories for me and continues to be one of my favorite spots to slow down and appreciate where I live.
