Let me first start off by saying NOONE likes to come outside to see that their car is gone and has been towed. That was my daughter's experience recently. Never have we experienced this before and didn't know what to do. It started with a simple call to the company. The gentleman was VERY professional and respectful as he explained the rules and the steps we needed to take to get our vehicle. We find out the only person that could pick-up the car was the person that it was registered to. This was a little complicated because the person that the car was registered to was out of town on vacation. The office staff helped us through the process every step of the way. Something I am deeply grateful for. I write all of this to say...it wasn't the tow truck companies fault that our car was parked in a lot that was monitored for towing. I would give 0 stars if I could. My vehicle was wrongfully towed from my apartment complex by On Time Towing for allegedly being parked in a fire lane. The problem? My apartment complex has confirmed that I was not parked in a fire lane. The fire lane is on the roadway itself, but there are designated parking spaces in front of it where my vehicle was legally parked. I even provided documentation from my apartment complex along with photos showing exactly where my car was parked. Instead of trying to understand the situation, the man I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and dismissive from the start. Even after I presented evidence showing the tow was a mistake, he continued insisting I was in the wrong. When I informed him I intended to pursue legal action, his response was that they have "hundreds of lawsuits," as if that somehow made this situation acceptable. He also refused to provide the owner's name, despite that information being publicly available. The only positive part of this experience was the woman working in the office. She was kind, respectful, and professional. Unfortunately, that was the only bright spot in an otherwise terrible experience. I will be pursuing this matter further and reaching out to local news outlets because I believe consumers deserve to know what they're dealing with. Got out the car for 10 mins while I was waiting for food in a restaurant. Car driving perfectly fine. No Pops or loud puncture noises. I was parked in private parking so i can see why they towed it but whoever was the driver, must have tried to tow the vehicle onto lift and SOMEBODY FROM THIS COMPANY popped the tire while towing it. Then its looks like they tried to lower the car off the tow ramp and take a picture of the car on the ground for fake evidence. The tire shop *next door* confirmed it was a big puncture whole that couldnt have came from a normal size rock or regular slow leak and assisted we go back to the shop who towed it so they could pay for it. If this was a mistake then cool. We could have went about it like adults to accommodate for THEIR mistakes. This company took no accountability for their actions and have no basic problem solving skills. I was not combative in the beginning trying to figure this out. The money for the tow *255* was paid cash with no back and forth. It was when I got to the car to pull off the man panicked and start making phone calls and tried to shoe me away. 1 star is generous. Unsure how credible their employees are. Their company as a whole needs to be looked into. Nonetheless, they attempted to tow my car from Book Binders downtown on 9/19. Caught them as they were attempting, and changed the price on what was needed twice. The man who was attempting to tow my car didn't have on hand payment processing systems. Instead, took a picture of my Credit Card and Drivers License for processing and made us wait until another man arrived 20min later to re-process payment. Very uncomfortable position to be in, as well as unprofessional when attempting to settle payment to move forward for the evening. The company that was hired by my insurance company was aware of the low clearance and the difficulty of locating a tow company that was able to remove my car. We were contacted by the dispatcher and driver to reassure us that they had a plan in place to remove the car in a garage with hairpin turns and many cars speeding through. This is a predatory towing company. Like Thaddeus said below, they come like thieves in the night to wrongly tow cars. In my first night in a new apartment, I was towed out of the spot that I pay $125/month for. The company also engages in several practices that are illegal for tow companies in Virginia, such as not making change for $100 bills. When we consequently could not pay in cash, we were charged a credit card fee that put us over the limit of what towing companies are legally allowed to charge ($160) in Virginia. The office staff are rude, stubborn, and malicious. The older man who oversees the parking lot made a misogynistic and harassing comment to my girlfriend, and my car had clearly been rummaged through. If you look on the Better Business Bureau website, On Time Towing has an F rating due to 7 formal complaints lodged against them and failure to respond to 3 of them. I see why. They are crooks and liars and should be run out of business! They quoted my disabled friend $125 for a tow. When they arrived, he asked if they could just change the tire for him since he was disabled. They told him it was no problem and they were already paid. They changed the tire to the spare tire so he could get the original tire repaired. They never discussed any additional charges with him but ended up charging him over $300 just to change a tire! This is a disabled person who is on a limited income and needed that money for food! When he tried calling them about the overcharge they kept hanging up on him about 10 times! Before diving into the issues of this predatory towing company, I would like to say avoid them at all costs. Nothing is worth the misery of dealing with these individuals. Learn to walk/run everywhere, ride a bike, convert to being Amish so horse and buggy are your main source of transportation so you do not have to deal with this company. When visiting my boyfriend, he is always very meticulous about obtaining the correct guest parking permit that his apartment requires. I came into town Thursday evening, and Saturday morning we find that my car is being towed while he is on his way to volunteer at a free clinic. Upon arrival to On Time Towing, we are beeped in by Adrianne. She shows us pictures of the car before it was towed, but they are not the best. The parking slip had slipped off the dash, but we do not know that until later. I ask to see my car, so she lets us out the front door and we go to look at the car. She ask to see my registration, and when I hand it to her, she hand it back and already knew that it is not in my name, but my mother's name. She proceeds to tell me that I need to get a notarized paper that has the owners license and a statement saying that it is okay that I can take the car. This is where the disrespect spiraled out of control. My mother is a 58-year-old disabled lady that suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. My father (her husband) passed away from cancer three years ago, and life has been VERY hard for the two of us since he has passed. She needs a caretaker most of the week, and she has not renewed her license because of finances and her illness. She also lives in a rural town in western NC. Keep in mind that it is about 12:00pm at the moment, and they are telling us that she needs to go and get something notarized before 1pm when they close. The employees were very rude about all of this, and are not willing to work with us at all. In a panic, I am able to find a bank in town 30 minutes away from her that can notarize the documents and someone to drive her. Meanwhile, while my BF and I are waiting in their cold waiting room, there are many other individuals that have fallen victim to their predatory business habits that we hear the awful stories of. The heat was not on in the building while we were there, there were no public restrooms, and there was no water offered. I am not sure how Virginia laws work, but I know that in NC, it is illegal to run a public business and not have public restrooms. Adrianne informs us that her supervisor, Joey, is saying that they are closing at 12:30pm and that we need to leave. We try to linger, yet they forced us to leave the building before we could make an appointment. She gives us an after-hours number for picking up the car, and says that they are accommodating and could meet whenever. It may come to no surprise at this point that they were not accommodating in the slightest. Adrianne stated that we could make an after-hours appointment, and I stated if it could be 1:30, and she said "yes, but you will need to call and schedule this." After being kicked out at 12:30, we called to make an appointment, but all that was said was to be back at 5p . To summarize all of this, I am extremely disappointed with this tow company's lack of morals, lack of courtesy in dealing with customers, and inconsistent business hours. I have never dealt with these kinds of people in my life, and honestly, I did not think that it was possible to be this bad. I am saddened by the businesses that are partnered with On Time Towing, for it sounds like this is not the first time this has happened. I have compared their reviews to other towing companies in the area. On Time Towing has a rating of 2.9, while there are 7-10 other companies within the same radius of Richmond that have MUCH better reviews in the high 4's. There is something seriously wrong when extra charges exceed the towing charges from $160 to $352 total. Mis-information, mis-quoting and inconsistency in applying fees to the detriment of the community is akin to loan-sharking. Even the location in which they operated so as to tow my nieces car is questionable. There is a lot on Grace Street between 17th & 18th streets said to be public parking on one side and not on the other. These so called lots share one entrance and the signage at this entrance is note as "City Public Parking". There is signage on a building within the parking lot that states that On Time Towing can remove vehicles without a permit. Car was broken into, cash and other miscellaneous items of value stolen out of the vehicle by the employees themselves. They damaged my window, scratched my driver side door and refused to admit fault of both the damage done and theft of my items. The last man who went to their place or business to retrieve his car became extremely upset when he realized that several hundreds of dollars were stolen from inside his vehicle by the employees at their lot -- during an argument he was gunned down and shot 12 times in broad daylight with an AK47 by the owner of the business. He was originally shot twice. He dragged his body along the ground around to the passenger side of the vehicle to his girlfriend who, having seen everything and fearing for her life, fled to a neighboring house. Instead of going safely indoors and calling 911 or EMS...they chose to finish the job by overkilling this already victimized man. They proceed to shoot this man 10 more times before he expired in the parking lot, allegedly from the roof of the establishment. Avoid these lower than low, bloodthirsty thugs at all cost, you may be the next person to lose your life and die in cold blood over the vile business practices that they seem to consistently get away with time and time again. Terrible. Impound location is pickup by appointment only which is only three times per day. Vehicle must be picked up by registered owner or have a notarized letter allowing someone else to pick up (not a VA regulation- just internal 'company' policy). They will not accept payment over the phone. Cash is cheaper price than credit card. The person picking up the car has to pay cash and cannot pay with credit card even if the notarized letter is provided. They put a lot of obstacles in place to add delays so they can make money on storage fee. The cash discount is to evade taxes and cheating the rest of us. I wish IRS would take a look into their books. read more

My vehicle was towed from a lot with a sign that was not visible, not this companies fault. However, when they towed my vehicle and I made an appointment to pick my vehicle up the next day, they were not on time to meet me. Ten min late, no big deal. The person that showed up was courteous, took my payment BUT then realized he did not have the key to the padlock to get into the gate to get my vehicle. He had to leave and go across town to get the correct padlock key causing me a wait of a total of one hour from my appointment time. I called the manager today to see about a partial refund/discount from the fee I already paid due to my inconvenience. I called the "24/7" hotline three times. No one answered. I left two voicemails. Since this company requires an appointment to pick up your car, I never got to set an appointment because NO ONE picked up the phones. Because of this, I had to wait until 9:30AM MONDAY AND I WAS CHARGED FOR AN EXTRA DAY OF STORAGE. I was also late for work. Upon arriving to my appointment, Trey, the driver told me that there were multiple pick up times I could have come to SUNDAY. I told him I tried calling multiple times and got no answer. I called the office again, and spoke with Adrienne, who was actually nice. I was really nice and told her that I wanted to be refunded for my day of storage sine it was their fault that I couldn't get an appointment to pick up on Sunday. She said the only way I could potentially get a refund was to come in the next day with proof that I called. I did exactly that. I walked my butt in there and had my proof of calling (three calls). Adrienne spoke to GREG on the phone while I was there and he apparently told her that "the incident needed to be investigated and I would hear back the next day". ABSURD. It shouldn't take 24 hours to realize that I was in the right. I get a call from Adrienne the next day. She tells me that GREG said he will not honor a refund because he "can't find my voicemails" and I "didn't call consecutively without stopping".................Im Sorry WHAT?!?! They wanted me to spend my whole Sunday, calling this place until what??? The phone literally cant be operated? THAT would be the only thing that would have warranted a refund??? In what wold does that make any sense? It is so simple: I called 3 times. They didn't answer. I overpayed. They pay be back. Literally could not be more simple?? I have included photos of my call log to both their "hotline" and office. I also have included their hours. Sunday hours are listed as 30 mins...so why would I call all day back to back on Sunday for someone to continue to not answer. Lastly, I included a screenshot of my calls Monday morning- they open at 8 and no one picked up until 8:08. I think that GREG should have the professionalism to carry out his own messages. I'd like to leave a little review of this company. This isn't a rant because I'm mad over an apartment complex near Hardywood towing during a charity event that's a whole different rant. However, these guys are great that they answer phones after hours but refuse to give you any information about where your car will be. Hint: they have TWO locations but only one listed on the internet. Something the woman on the phone could have told me the night before instead of telling me to call back the following morning. I believe it was the same person both times. Also, the second locations address doesn't really exist. "It's 90 Westwood trail but just put in Westwood trail and look for the address". Needless to say after seeing the first location I'm a little concerned on where my car was stored over night. Overall, they're nice people but the way the handle customers already in an irritated state is not good. It's almost like they view you as an inconvenience and are trying to make you retrieving your car and paying them a challenge for you.
