Best compliment I can pay him is that he's not a salesman- he's a skilled electrician who has excellent customer service skills as well. He replaced the service panel on our cabin in Bailey, and did a great job for a great price. Seriously, call these guys if you need electrical work done!

I'm writing this detailed review because Ryan Jurgens, the company owner, was caught by a Denver…read morecity inspector doing non-compliant electrical work on our home and never finished the job even with failed permitted work under his name (Permit #2016-ELEC-0002664). It cost $770 to pay another electrician to clean up his mess. We had our kitchen remodeled and he was subcontracted to do the permitted electrical work. Days before the final inspection, power went out to our entire house except the kitchen, dryer, and furnace. I found that a single 15 amp breaker that had previously been used for the bathroom only had tripped. Turning it back on returned power to the house. The inspector confirmed that "circuits are being shared" by a single breaker, put that in his report, and failed the inspection. When I first emailed Ryan about the issue, concerned that we had an overloaded circuit, he just replied, "You need a service change & upgrade...let me know if you need me to provide a price?" If there wasn't enough space in our breaker box, he obviously should have said something at the outset instead of taking shortcuts. The inspector told us that he probably would not have caught it if we hadn't brought it up, since the inspection was for the kitchen. It appeared that Ryan thought he'd get away with it because he left the old labels on the original breakers as though they were still wired that way. Ryan chose not to be at the inspection and when we got him on the line to speak to the inspector, he said his reception was bad and hung up. We were friendly with him and he was paid in full and on time. He obviously doesn't care about his customers.

I submitted a Yelp project to get a quote on installing a smart thermostat. Rick called me immediately and told me he was driving, so if I texted him my name and address, he'd get back to me in about 40 minutes with a quote. Sounds reasonable. So I texted him. And waited. And waited some more. After more than two hours of radio silence, I sent a simple "Hello?" Suddenly, Rick called me back sounding like I'd just sent him 47 texts, hired a private investigator, and filed a missing persons report. "Umm... I got your message. I'm going to have someone call you with a quote." Great. That's literally all you had to text me two hours earlier. Eventually someone called and quoted me $259 to install a thermostat. Not exactly a Yelp special, but fine. We scheduled the appointment for 10:00 a.m., and I rearranged my schedule to make it work. A few days later, Rick left me a voicemail asking if they could move my appointment to 9:00 a.m. instead. He specifically said to call or text him back. So I texted him back. Can you guess what happened next? If you guessed "absolutely nothing," congratulations, you've worked with R&A before. I explained that I couldn't do 9:00 because I had another appointment at 9:15 and had already moved things around for the original time. No response. Not a yes. Not a no. Not a "See you at 10." Not even a thumbs-up emoji. At this point, I wasn't sure if they were coming at 9:00, 10:00, or sometime during the next presidential administration. So I canceled. The funniest part? The second I canceled and pointed out that this was now the second communication failure, Rick magically responded almost immediately: "Okay. Sorry for the poor communication on our end." Amazing. The fastest response of our entire relationship happened after they lost the job. If their electricians communicate with each other the way they communicate with customers, I hope they don't work on anything that requires wires to connect.

OGS Electric - Symmetrical rooftop array

    OGS Electric

One star is too generous for OGS, Off-Grid Solutions. I wouldn't trust OGS to replace a lightbulb…read more I had to hire an experienced journeyman electrician to do a forensic inspection of OGS' work and the inspection found numerous code and safety violations by OGS that required remediation. Some of the OGS' mistakes could have caused a fire. The inspector commented that the (OGS) work appeared to be done by an inexperienced person. OGS failed at every step and then extorted me to pay them immediately in cash before the work was complete and before the City electrical inspection. The even clumsily FORGED a changed contract long after the "work" was finished, changing the terms; I had never seen that contract version until 6 weeks after the work was supposed to be completed. I have since learned from OGS that an "apprentice" may have been used on the project, mostly unsupervised, which is illegal in Colorado. I believe that the reason they wanted cash before the inspection is that they didn't not expect their work to pass inspection. We had a detailed contract for a straight-forward electrical panel capacity and amp upgrade. The contract specified that two employee electricians were to take one day to complete installation of a detailed list of equipment and get the permits and inspection done. They sent one (not two) freelance "electrician", who appears to be just an apprentice who is not allowed to work without in-person supervision, who had never seen the work order and did not have a copy. The "electrician" brought and started installing a breaker box that was the wrong brand and 1/3 less capacity than the minimum specified. After a 2nd day of work, OGS were still missing parts, but demanded full cash payment; they said it was too much trouble to bring the remaining necessary parts soon. OGS deliberately delayed requesting City inspection for no valid reason--a homeowner was home every day in January. They threatened to sabotage my follow-on project if I did not pay them cash immediately before the contracted work was completed and inspected. And did. The contracted work is still not completed, weeks later. After numerous threats, I may file extortion charges against them and seek a form of restraining order. IMHO, the GUYS AT OGS ARE NUTS and certainly should not be licensed electricians. The OGS reply to this has substantial misrepresentations; no surprise. Deal with them at your own peril.

OGS were great at communicating, accommodating to my schedule and got the work done at a fraction of the price quoted by others. They even made sure to get everything cleaned up and left how they found it - even better. Would highly recommend this company and I wasn't paid for this review. Great job, thank you!
