We figured it had to be something minor since the system was fairly new, so we called a local Heating and Air company who came out on the following Monday and could not find the problem. They were very nice, but told us we needed an electrician. My Husband called Over-All Electric and they happened to be in our area. They came to our house in less than 5 minutes! It took the electrician less than 5 minutes to fix the problem and we were up and running! The problem was minor (thank goodness) and since it was so minor, they didn't even charge us. I stressed all weekend thinking we were going to pay an arm and a leg when we just had to make several large purchases already, and thank goodness we found Over-All Electric!! Usually, you have to sell a kidney to pay for an electrician and good luck finding one who will drive all the way out to Strasburg! I was initially reluctant to go with this company because of the initial service fee, but it was so worth it! Their price was 1/4 of what I'd paid with two other companies and the work was 1000% better. I'm not exaggerating. I'm a disabled veteran who has medical devices with short cords . I had OAE install three GFI plugs for me in really tricky places and the outcome was shocking in the best kind of way. Really professional and clean work that I had not seen before. Above and beyond, and mind you, not an easy task to cut everything out of my walls/cabinets with perfection and like it was meant to be there when the house was being built in the first place. No damage to the paint or anything. Chris even took extra time and effort to properly protect the cords and components at no extra costs. It looks so astoundingly good and clean! Chris, my technician, was putting in a crazy amount of work. Since OAE was so affordable, I offered him a little bit of cash that he refused to take. He did a great job and explained every step of what he was doing. He scoped my sewer line out to the street and found that there were no breaks or cracks or irregularities anywhere in my line. A different and well-known plumbing company had tried to tell me a year ago that all of my pipes were cracked and needed to be replaced---to the tune of almost $15,000. Once he arrived, I was informed that diagnosing the possible problem would cost an additional $289--even though he acknowledged that it might take only a few minutes to determine the source. The plumber himself was polite, honest, and professional. He seemed genuinely uncomfortable explaining the pricing and apologetically stated that it was corporate policy. My concern is not with him; it is with the company's lack of transparency when the appointment was scheduled. The plumber was also approximately three hours early and called to ask whether I could accommodate the earlier arrival. I rearranged my schedule to do so, only to turn him away after learning about the additional charge that had never been disclosed. I have no problem paying a fair price for professional work. However, charging a non-refundable $49 fee without clearly explaining that it covers nothing beyond arriving at the home--and that even a brief diagnosis will cost another $289--did not feel fair or transparent. I declined the service and am now out the $49.
