The website and the fact that they had free kids tickets at Del Taco should've been a sign to me that this wasn't going to be top-notch. But I found a good deal on Goldstar and figured it'd be entertaining enough for a Friday night date night. Cirque Italia was set up in the parking lot of the Gwinnett County fairgrounds, and the tents resembled a small Cirque du Soleil. So far, so good. When we walked into the tent we realized that the "climate control" was just one heating unit in the corner. It was FREEZING inside! I put on my best game face and settled in for the show. The entertainment was so underwhelming I found myself yawning and struggling to stay awake about 20 minutes in. Sure, the performers had talent, but the weird music and choreography was so off-putting. The theatrics were so over the top, it was like watching a terrible soap opera. The clown that performed every 10 minutes in between acts was so, so irritating. I wanted to like this circus so badly, but it was just a train wreck.

We chose seats 3 rows back at the end of an aisle thinking we would have a good view only to have a huge tent support structure almost in direct view of our aisle seat. After going back to look at the seating chart, we noticed a small square that represented this pole, but there was no legend indicating that that was a huge pole blocking your line of sight. (See pic) Concessions has no pricing, you have to ask about each item. Large popcorn and a bottle of water was $13 which is about average, I suppose, but you could put out some signs. Now for the good news! The performers were really great! The water show part was different and very beautiful. I think this would be most enjoyable for families with children. There is comedy relief in between the acts with cheesy clowns. Don't pay a lot for your ticket though. Definitely look for a discount somewhere. Google and find cheap tickets and enjoy yourself.

Including letting me bring all table linens, feather vase centerpieces, a cake, table decor, a welcome sign for outside, two paparazzi cardboard cutouts I made that had flashing camera bulbs, a full red carpet (inside the room) and two 10ft Oscar balloon statues that I made. The only downside was that the movie she chose (The Goonies) wasn't available due to licensing but we had a backup and she had a wonderful time watching one of her favorite movies in an entire theater with all of her friends! They even offer snack packages that include drink popcorn and small candy which was great! It was a great Hollywood style affair and we had an absolute blast!! The theater planner and staff we worked with was great very friendly and helpful. Would 100% plan a party here again or rent out one of their comfy and extremely clean theaters. Catering by Marlowes and access to some really fantastic reserve beer makes it worth the extra money. Not much of a crowd inside the tent, but after they opened the gates, lines started piling up quick. Still, no waits more than a couple minutes, unless you wanted to use the VIP bathrooms. They really needed more... BTW, if you had a problem with traffic or parking, it's because you didn't take Uber. It's a BEER FEST; don't drive!!! We won't make the mistake of missing this event again...

Depending on how many tracks you've been to could determine your experience. Ive been to paved and…read moredirt tracks. The Track ----------- This track is dirt and about 3/8 miles oval. If dust bothers you then best to sit up away from the track. There is also less to the right when looking toward track (end of main straightaway). The lighting is pretty good and you can see all parts of the track. The scoreboard doesnt work. Seating --------- There are paved bleachers that you can bring folding chairs. At a minimum bring a cushion. Some people park trackside but that area is only one turn so limited. There is no covered seating. Facilities ---------- Restrooms. I can only speak for the men's but be prepared for the worst. There is basic stadium foods such as burgers and hotdogs, fries, onion rings, etc. Alot of people had coolers with drinks. Parking is free and will be on dirt and gravel. People -------- This is in the country so most are typical country folk. Youll see alot of hats, smoking, etc.

BEST "COTTON PICKIN" FESTIVAL THIS YEAR!…read more Well, I was off to explore yet another festival this weekend and it was a blast! The Cotton Gin Festival was started back in the late 80's as a fundraiser to save the historic Agnes Hotel. It proved to be very successful and now occurs annually. The drive to the town of Bostwick was great because it is very scenic and quaint. We love the things that we saw on the way: baby goats playing in a front yard like they were little kittens, horses,cows and awesome cotton fields . I love cotton and I am just fascinated with touching raw cotton and borrowing samples from certain museums. My husband thinks it's like stealing a Van Gogh but I only grabbed a little to put in my pocket. However, I am happy to say that today I was actually able to PURCHASE my very own sample. Our favorite experience at the festival was touring the historic cotton mill. We were able to tour the mill and see that awesome gin at work. We actually saw the cotton vacuumed into the machine and transported throughout where it was cleaned, de-seeded, compressed and packaged for transport. It was the coolest thing ever!! Every single bale has a sample removed and sent to a government agency where it is inspected and evaluated. This tour was not just about seeing a cotton gin, it was a great opportunity to educate the public about the cotton industry. This festival is a great event for the entire family. Along with tours of the cotton mill, there was also an early morning race and a parade. The festival featured various vendors selling, clothing, jackets, jewelry, handmade soaps, wood crafts, winter accessories and more. I found a great hooded wool poncho that was handmade and super warm. It was sold by a Native American vendor who had great outerwear, bracelets, necklaces, hand puppets and more. Unfortunately he did not have a business card or the name of his business posted. This is not uncommon but it causes these small businesses to miss out on getting recognized with a Yelp review. I really like being able to "shine the light" on these small businesses so that they get the attention they deserve. In addition to vendors, there was a parade of various antique tractors and a few classics. It was incredible because there were so many tractors that it was just dizzying! Some of them were very rustic while others were beautifully restored. It was just great to see so many classic vehicles still loved and appreciated. Love it! Every festival has to have good food and great music and this one did not disappoint especially when it came to the music. I do not know the name of the band but they were so professional and so good that I would absolutely pay to hear them play again anywhere. They kept everyone thoroughly entertained. As we actually sat down to watch them, we noticed that we were sitting under a pecan tree. So we had fresh pecans to snack on while we jammed to the music. Perfect! For lunch we actually had some deliciously smoked ribs which is one of our favorite festival foods and a slice of buttermilk pie. In addition to all of the activities and businesses to interest adults, there was also a petting zoo and a huge play area for the kids. This festival absolutely had something for everyone and is highly recommended for all. ***Now to the issues that need to be addressed: During the festival, one should never run out of water and soap. This is just unacceptable. One should also never, ever run out of tees so early in the day, especially when it comes to the larger sizes. Additionally, tees should be designed to fully embrace the tractors and the cotton gin theme as in prior years and be available in complimentary colors. It is really not that difficult. I look forward to attending next year and having a great time! Just have my t-shirt ready please. PS If you are a vendor who sells clothing, outerwear or accessories, please consider bringing a mirror along so that customers can conveniently see themselves in the items they are wanting to purchase (instead of trying to rely on their phone). The Winter Lantern Festival is a unique shindig with a combination of interesting light sights and sounds. Because we chose a later slots to tour the grounds, we were not able to get the full experience. There is a multi-faceted program if you go at the right time. It would be a wise venture for the parents out there to take a couple hours out and carry the kids down to see the sights.
