Not all Açaí bowls are created equal. This is one of those bowls. Fresh ingredients and an açaí base that taste natural with some added fruit for natural sweetness. The peanut butter was so delicately placed and presentation was perfect! Great job!

Ordered Pleasure island açaí bowl, which was good, sweet because of the added honey. I would skip the honey or ask for less honey next time. Besides açaí bowls, they have smoothies and protein shakes, using premier protein powder. Customer service could be better, they were more focused on talking to each other and watching a video on the phone.

Today was my first visit to one of three Tropical Smoothie Locations in the Wilmington area…read more Today's location was the TSC on College Rd. I arrived to pick up my curbside order around 1 pm with an open mind and no certain expectations. Without further ado...here is my personal review. FOOD: Caribbean Jerk Chicken Wrap with a Kale & Apple side salad with a Sunrise Sunset Smoothie. Since TSC contains the title of "Smoothie" in it's name, I'll begin with the Sunrise Sunset smoothie. This beverage is definitely smooooth. The first flavors to hit my tongue were fresh pineapple and mango, followed up with hints of orange. The smoothie's consistency was just as it should be...not too thick, not too thin. On a very hot summer day, this is a perfect drink to indulge in without much guilt. The sweetness of the smoothie was well-balanced, although it appeared there may have been some added sweetener (perhaps a small amount of added sugar or natural glucose from the orange juice blended inside?) but it did enhance the tropical flavors overall. I thoroughly enjoyed it!! The kale & apple side salad was the pleasant surprise to me. Fresh, grated carrots, diced apples and TSC's house dressing over the chopped kale gives the side salad a sweet and tangy flavor...similar to a gourmet cole slaw. Within 1 minute, the salad was devoured and it will be a go-to for me in the future. As for the Caribbean Jerk Wrap, I thought it was good...but not exceptional. The wrap was served hot off of the grill. The chunks of chicken breast were juicy, plump and grilled well. The rice and beans added some nice texture inside and the Jerk seasoning sauce was wonderful with it's light, subtle spices and heat. The areas of opportunity I would recommend to help make this wrap exceptional would be if the grilled chicken breast included a light layer of Jerk seasoning rub, eliminating pieces of stalk from the romaine lettuce and reducing the amount of grilled pineapple salsa by approx. 50%. A few bites taken of the wrap included such a large punch of pineapple sweetness, it overpowered the chicken and Jerk seasoning. I believe if the pineapple-to-chicken ratio were to be reduced, the jerk sauce (along with the rest of the ingredients) would be the highlight, then followed up by the sweet and juicy pineapple. But...overall, I did enjoy the wrap and I consumed it all. SCORE: 4.0 STARS!! SERVICE: For my curbside pickup, the order was ready right on time, each young lady was very pleasant and friendly and you could see the smiles on their faces, covered by their masks. Each employee were wearing masks properly, wearing sanitation gloves and practiced safe, social distancing throughout our interraction outside. I was thanked for stopping by and the overall customer service experience met my expectations. Well done TSC and staff!! SCORE: 5 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: TSC delivers good flavors, very fresh ingredients and a superb smoothie. I was impressed with the service, safety measures and the kale salad! I look forward to visiting again to try a new smoothie concoction and a different lunch selection to see how it all stacks up against today's meal. Thank you again for the tasty meal and a delicious smoothie! See you again soon. 4.5 STARS!!

Also to note, as a personal preference, there is a difference between cold brew, mocha, and drip coffee and I definitely prefer a nice mocha over their drip coffee. I met with the manager recently and you get free refills for drip coffee, and if it is cold brew it is $2.00 because it is a different bean from what I was told. While still relatively expensive, that makes more sense. While a little bit on the pricier side, Drift provides a nice place to eat and enjoy a nice time with others.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for coffee and, unfortunately, the experience wasn't the best…read more Before even walking inside, we noticed trash blowing around outside the front door. Once inside, the floors could've used a good sweeping as well because the same situation was present on the interior floors, both in the customer area and behind the counter. There was also a strong musty/moldy smell, and we couldn't figure out whether it was coming from the visibly dirty drink station, the spots on the ceiling that appeared to show water damage and/or mold, or somewhere else entirely. A fun little mystery we didn't ask to participate in. While looking at the menu, a woman working there approached us with a strange attitude, almost as if we were up to no good for simply reading the menu. We said we weren't ordering food, joined the line, and she immediately snatched the menus away. We ordered a medium iced mocha and a medium iced caramel macchiato. The macchiato isn't actually on the menu, but the barista said she could make something similar to Starbucks' version, so we went with it and were charged for a medium iced latte with caramel. I asked for whipped cream on my mocha, but was told they didn't have any and could offer cold foam instead. I agreed, then noticed I was being charged $0.80 for cold foam. COLD FOAM. At this point, babe, keep the foam. We waited about 10 minutes for our drinks. While waiting, we sat at an empty table, only to be approached by the same woman questioning why we were sitting down and pressuring us to order food. We explained we were waiting for our drinks, declined, and she walked away mid-food turn down with an attitude. Then our drinks were ready. We went to pick them up and immediately noticed a hair sitting directly on top of one of the lids. And the drinks? Both mediocre at best, especially considering the price. There were also several customers walking around barefoot while staff walked right past them without concern. I understand we're in a beach town and shoes sometimes become optional, but this cafe is nowhere near the beach. When people are walking barefoot just a few "feet" away from where food and drinks are being prepared, it's honestly pretty unsanitary looking. I'm not opposed to paying more for good coffee and a nice atmosphere. But mediocre drinks, high prices, visible cleanliness issues, a strong musty smell, barefoot customers, questionable customer service, and a complimentary hair garnish made this an easy never again for us. Unfortunately, I don't see us returning.

Healthy options for smoothies, salads, sandwiches, and breakfast in LELAND?! Hip Hip, Hooray!…read more I was so excited to learn at TSC was coming to Leland. I'll be honest, I'd only ever had one item from there and tasted an item that my friend ordered, but I loved it! I just never went because there was never a location that was convenient to mine. We checked it out earlier this week a few days after their opening. Lots of healthy options to feast upon. I got a hummus veggie bowl and couldn't have been happier with all the flavors. The hummus was extra garlicky, which I loved and it mixed well with the smashed avocado. It also had black beans, corn, and rice, and pickled onions. Those onions were the perfect touch of tangy! Served over kale, spinach, and romaine blend and topped with lite ranch. Man, I was impressed! As I sat eating my salad, I couldn't help but notice all the other diners sipping their smoothies. When in Rome...we had to order one to go to check it out. We went simple and tried the Kiwi Quencher which is strawberry kiwi and yogurt. It was simple yet delicious. The Green Apple Matcha is on my radar though. Also, all their smoothies are made with turbinado as the sweetener. That is a derivative of pure cane sugar and it is named by the way in which they make it. You can substitute splenda if you'd like.
