The Dainty Lion - Dainty Lion Florals | Scripps Seaside Forum July 2017

    The Dainty Lion

With a father of the groom who worked in flowers his whole life, Kimberly and The Dainty Lion had a…read morehigh bar to contend with. She cleared it with ease, and affordability. Kimberly took the time to sit down with us and our wedding planners to ensure her vision matched not only what we had pictured for our wedding day but also what our planner was putting together. She brings a relevant style that doesn't surrender classical beauty for current fads. Her ability to provide florals for an immense variety of locations and needs is a testament to her skill and eye for design. Not only did she handle classic bouquets, center pieces, and boutonnieres, she also created beautiful flower boxes and a wonderful floral piece for the wood house we were married under. We highly recommend Kimberly for any wedding (or other event!) in Southern California.

She is absolutely amazing at being a wedding florist. Also, she's super sweet and easy to talk to. I told her the style I liked and she did the rest. Our wedding was beautiful. Much to my surprise she is very competitively priced without having to negotiate. I spoke with many florists trying to find the right one within our budget. I found Kimberly and thanked the other florists I spoke to for their time. They would email me back saying they could give me a lower price. Ok, why didn't you give me that price to begin with? Anyway, Kimberly is such a gem. She gave me a good price from the beginning, and I think that says a lot about her character. Check her out on Instagram. She has beautiful pictures of her work.

I can't begin to say enough good things about Elena Donnelly and the staff at Before I Do events…read more Elena was the sweetest person to work with and worked so incredibly hard to make our wedding the day of our dreams and go off without a glitch! She worked so well with all of the vendors and just made the whole experience so much more pleasant. She was like having a little buddy to conquer the world with those last few weeks! I'm so incredibly thankful to her and her staff (who were all total sweethearts too) for making everything perfect!

Being a Project Manager in my every day life, I very much handled my wedding in the same manner. A…read moreproject. However, even good project managers know good delegation skills... Since I already had my vendors and most major details sorted out, I was strictly looking for a coordinator to help me the week/day of our wedding to make it all come together and to relieve any internal stress/anxiety I was surely about to have (note: we had recently moved cross-country from San Diego to FL months before we came back to SD for the wedding...thank you, U.S. Navy.) I was recommended Before I Do Events from a fellow friend and was lucky enough to meet Elena Donnelly. To echo a lot of the other reviews, I cannot say enough great things of Elena and her team for what they did for us that special day. While I'm sure we were not their most complicated, I'd like to think our traditional Catholic and Military wedding put some curve balls into the mix. Elena and her team did an exceptional job from prepping the church, to working hand in hand with each venue coordinator, to making sure the vendors and guests had seamless access to the military base (where our reception was held) to dealing with a difficult reception room layout/setup, transporting/setting every table center piece since I shipped most of it and had it staged in our hotel room (and yes, I did my own flower arrangements because I'm insane!) down to the littlest details of making sure we and the bridal party had sandwiches for lunch on the trolley as we ran around SD taking pictures in between the ceremony and reception. The timing of the day was tight and it went in a blink of an eye but it was flawless and for the first time ever (it's hard for me to not be in control of everything) I handed over command to someone that I truly trusted and felt confident would excel in executing every last task of our big day. Elena, you handled everything with ease and you did it with class...thank you again to you and your Before I Do Events team for making it memorable!

My experience with Home Wedding Sites as a venue matching service has been pretty decent…read more Communications with the owner have been very pleasant, professional, courteous, and friendly even though there were a number of delays in response. But overall they have some pretty decent properties listed. My only criticisms is that I wish their profile information for the property was a bit more specific especially detail need to know set ups for events and whatnot. Basically profiles just have a limited number of pictures and general location and general cost, and maybe some house stats (qty rooms/bathrooms etc). It would be nice if more information was provided and more pictures, things like where are cars parked, and is this a day of place, does it have overnight accommodations, maybe even layouts of the event areas that are available for use, any rules for the property, whether the owners live on site or not....is there storage, where can the caterers cook? That sort of thing. At the least if the information was provided up front those planning would be able to ascertain whether a property is right for them before going through the arduous process with the owners to set up an appointment to tour the location. In the 3 months of communicating with the office we viewed about 20 ish of their listed properties, and decided we were interested in pursuing three of them after some Google satellite image searches and look at what information was provided. It took 3 months, and we were only able to get a tour with one property which ultimately ended up being a shared property with the owners and only a day of location. Which is ok for us in a pinch but for the area and cost would not have really that worth it....the other ended up cancelling their contracts with HWS or something to that effect. But meeting with the owner of HWS was blast, she's very sweet and helpful and it is a free service for the bridegroom. I'm still maintaining contact with HWS in hopes a new property that better suits us pops up that's better than our top pick right now which is just located in an inconvenient area to overnight accommodations but the property is amazing. But as far as Home Wedding Sites goes, it worth connecting with them. They have properties of all budgets, to each his own terms, some daily, some weekly, some even monthly, some overnight, some day of, etc etc...but all the properties are nicer than your average wedding venues, more homey, better than many of the vacation rentals I've seen, some more palatial, others more convenient. There was another similar business who lists wedding venue estates that had a couple of estates, one I think was called Bali estate, another Emma estate, but that company was a nightmare to communicate with, so I'm hoping those awesome properties begin to work with HWS because its a better service in my opinion,
