They did the taxes and in 2010 my new accountant looked over the file and realized she didn't claim them. I reviewed the file and the disability T2202 form was in there and all the disability information and she said she never knew about it. In fact, she blamed me because I was supposed to "check the numbers" before leaving her office. Check what numbers? I didn't even know what I could claim which is why I hired a "professional". I ended up paying her bill and the bill of the new accountants to fix her mistake. She didn't own up or offer any refund and her mistake would have cost me $5,000 if not discovered by my new accountant. I was told that tax return for self employed individuals cost $80 when I booked my appointment over the phone.By the time they were done with me, I paid $145. Here's their explanation: $40 for personal tax return + $80 for self employed tax return + $20 for having transportation/vehicle expenses claim. Lucky for me, I did all my receipt and expenses calculations already, otherwise that would have cost me more.
