Used Travis and his people a second time to take down a dead tree and prune some of our existing trees. I"m really not sure where the one star reviews are coming from. They use email as their preferred communication. Their cleanup was first rate. I also was told to stand back and close my eyes while they blew my driveway clean after the work. Safety first. They were supposed to park on the street. Instead, they took it upon themselves to remove my sprinkler head markers from the street edge and proceeded to park on my front lawn, damaging a sprinkler. Then the owner of "On a limb," didn't like my response, so the "holier than thou" person just drove off. Apparently his discussion about not wanting to damage my lawn by parking on the street, made during the estimate process, was meaningless. Since I was home, the least consideration he could have performed would have been to knock on my door and ask. I would avoid this tree service. Not only was he days late but he never contacted me to let me know he wasn't coming as promised the first time. I had to chase after him to get any info regarding a date. Obviously he doesn't write things down and depends on strictly memory, or he simply doesn't care. read more

Got an estimate May 18th, nice guy came out and talked about my trees and options; saw I had a fence and talked about needing to remove it to reach the back tree with their equipment and asked if the fence could be removed, I said sure. After accepting the offer they gave me a date they would come out and remove them. Well my date got pushed back not once... not twice... but THREE TIMES (for what they claim was 2 months worth of heat advisories). After the third reschedule they pushed me back TWO WEEKS, all signs showed they were going to come. They showed up today (no time given, just told me "morning" in the email), saw that they couldn't get through my back fence that I told them they could take down; so instead of starting on the front tree accessible from the city road, they tried to call me; but because I was sleeping and didn't answer... THEY LEFT and went to a different project to start - guess it wasn't too hot for that customer!! I was inside the house sleeping, had they been doing their chainsaws or trucks (OR EVEN RANG THE DOORBELL) I could have heard them and woken up... nope they left for them to text me and tell me they would reschedule me again... I wish I could have left a quality review on their work but after nearly TWO MONTHS they never offered any sort of remedy they just seem to not want to come, glad they don't make you pay ahead of time... Heard this has happened to a few people; will deter people I work with from this happening to others. read more

1. Remove/cut down three large dead trees at back of wood line. The estimate from ON A LIMB included two large dead elm trees, not the ash tree. On the first day of activity, I remind the owner about the ash tree, and he assured me that it would be take care of; but at the moment the truck was full. 2. A forestry mulch front wood line in backyard clearing, down debris and underbrush. The owner didn't have the proper equipment to complete this task; stated that he would be back the next day to finish. He came back the next day to finish the work but was unable to because his equipment broke down. 3. He came back three days later without notice of his arrive or completion. He did manage to e-mail an invoice soon thereafter. 4. I sent a reply e-mail to the invoice expressing three areas of concerning and requesting that a representative come over to review the service requested and the service provided. 5.This e-mail prompt a call from the owner. Doing this call we discuss my concerns, and it became clear to me that I made a big mistake doing business with this company; they are not who they said they are on their web site. 6. ON A LIMB gave me an estimate of what that could do not an estimate of what I wanted done; they expressed it in a way that met their need not mine. In heat of our telephone discussion, I was told that the ash tree was too big for them to handle; that he had not assured me the ash tree would be handle; and that to cut down the ash tree would cost a lot more money; that he didn't do the forestry mulch on the clearing (according to their procedures) because it provides to me easier opportunities to work the land- (really). 7.The total cost of the project including taxes is $3,078.00. 8. The owner came over the day of the phone discussion and agreed that the work was not completed. I pointed out two large tree stump that hadn't been grinded down and large pieces of wood that should have been reduced to mulch. He stated that the stumps were not cite in the contact. I explained to him that the two-tree stump were located in backyard clearing area and needn't be cited. He agreed, and stated he didn't see the stumps!! 9. The owner came the next day to grind down the stumps and to layout forestry mulch front wood line. He didn't lay down forestry mulch line because most of the material had been truck away by ON A LIMB. read more

Hired them to come out to remove some bushes we had on the side of the house, then remove stumps and clean the area up so it's suitable for planting grass. Well, they got rid of the bushes and halfheartedly smoothed things over. I had to go out and remove a few of the stumps left behind and clean up some left over branches. Disappointed. For the price ($450), I didn't want to have to do anything except plant the grass. Instead, I had to rake and cut the roots off of leftover stumps. read more

Contacted On a Limb for trees we wanted trimmed back, and a couple others we had questions on. Travis was/is extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He explained everything to me and when it came time for the work to get done, he did an excellent job and I didn't have to clean up a single thing. Met with Travis on Aug 8th for an estimate to fell three trees in the wooded area behind the house and to trim three dead branches off a tree near the house. Travis said he was scheduling about six weeks out and that he'd call nearer to when he had a date. Travis notified me the week of sept 21 saying he'd be out that next Friday. On Friday, about 1:00pm after no crew had shown up, as of then, I decided to text for a status. I was told he was behind due to missing staff all week and would not make it (and he did not know this sooner?) He also said they'd have to reschedule. I figured that unexpected problems can occur and that we have the work done the following week. However, he emailed me on Sunday to tell me I'd have to wait another six weeks! I replied that I was concerned about the dead branches on the tree near the house and asked if he could come out and cut these sooner. Travis said it was unlikely he'd have time but would call if he could come out. Then, we had that bad storm in October and one of the dead branches fell and damaged a gutter. I emailed Travis again to ask if he could come out and take care of the dead branches and was again informed that he likely would not have time. Finally, he came to do the work on Nov 5th. He cut one dead branch and left one I had thought he was going to cut during our estimate meeting (Travis said he actually cut more than what I saw, but I have no evidence he did or did not), but regardless, one dead branch remained. During our estimate we discussed him cutting up the trunks on the trees in the woods so I could move them after, if I wanted. Travis only made cuts to allow the trunks to lay flat to prevent rolling, leaving very large and heavy unmanageable logs. I will say Travis knows how to fell a tree, but I will not work with him again due to the scheduling issues, lack of concern for the dead branches and not completing the work as first discussed. read more

Not sure why anyone would give Travis and his crew less than 5 stars. Travis has done all our tree work on our property. He is VERY professional, does not use big equipment to get up in the tree - he climbs and gently drops the limbs, then takes the trunks down. We just had them take down a huge oak that was a menace to our neighbors driveway - I could not believe how quickly and efficiently they did it. They used equipment to find the roots and stump, now you can't even tell now that a tree ever lived there. He also ground up a lot of roots for an area where we cut down bushes ourselves, can't tell anything was there either, and now we can put in in a nice garden. Also very reasonably priced, and he is a trained arborist so if you just need to care for the tree or prune it back, he will do it so the tree remains healthy. He has now done work here 3x and we've been extremely happy each time with the quality and the price. read more

I have to say I am disappointed. I read good reviews but we have had a terrible experience with this company. Our tenant has a huge tree limb about to fall and it's been weeks plus several calls and they never get back to us. They had already visited the property and we never received the estimate. The safety concern for our tenant is huge because now this delay in having to find someone could result in potential damage to the house plus the residents. read more

Very disappointed with this company. I had an appointment scheduled weeks in advance. The morning of the appointment Travis showed up around 10 a.m. without any workers. One of his guys was on vacation. Apparently he had hired a couple of other guys, but they flaked out last minute. I felt bad for him as I know it can be difficult to hire reliable workers and that it is not easy to run your own business. He promised to regroup and reschedule soon. Before he left I showed him the stumps that I wanted removed and we looked at the tree together and discussed branches. He was lined up to do some work at my house as well as two of my next door neighbors. I think it was maybe 5 days later when one of my neighbors stopped over and said...Travis asked me to tell you he will be coming on Sunday. I said...Oh, OK, but not sure why he's asking you to tell me that when he should tell me directly. A couple of days after that chat....I arrived home to find that On a Limb had been at my house and did the work. I had no idea he was coming. He didn't bother to call or email me. I wanted to be at home while they did the work....which is why I originally took time off from my own job to be home in the first place. Maybe some people don't care about that...but it was never discussed that he might just show up on a day when another job was canceled. I expressed my dismay in an email. I asked him to come back and get some more branches - that I would have pointed out if I was at home when the work was done. He did come back, but his attitude was rude. He demanded I point out everything so that "he didn't need to come back again as it cost him $300 in gas" to come back. I realize my job was small. In fact, I scaled it down after he first came out and did an estimate as I had another home project pop up that was quite expensive and needed to reduce the cost. I emailed him about this and was up front with him. Travis seems very knowledgeable. I don't doubt that he knows his stuff when it comes to trees. However, his communication and customer service skills need some major improvement. He made me feel awful that I expressed that I was upset that he came to my home and did the work, but did not bother to even inform me so I could be home at that time. Then he complains that I made him come back and that I was "nit picky." Overall....a really unpleasant experience. We were looking for a trained arborist, who could properly prune four trees to remove crossed branches, train the growth to fill in empty spots in the tree canopies and keep the trees away from the house -- all while maintaining a natural shape. We also wanted two overgrown blue spruce shrubs removed. Travis and his crew were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. They did a phenomenal job with the trees -- once they leaf out its going to be virtually impossible for anyone to see that work was even done. The shrubs were removed very quickly, with the aid of some heavy machinery, and the ground was all leveled and raked over. There isn't any damage to the lawn and it looks as if the shrubs never existed. We are absolutely thrilled to find this company and will be using them for all our tree and shrub pruning in the future. We cannot speak highly enough about this company. read more

Travis is experienced, but his price came in 1/3 higher than his quote. This happened both times we used him, in spite of our being very careful to get a firm and clear quote the second time. He promised to send us the invoice and photos of the tree he took down, and he never did this. If you don't mind paying a whole lot more than you expected, and someone who does not keep their word (not only about price), then this is a good tree service. I called to rescue my cat in a tree. No one Ever returned my call, although they advertise quick service. My cat DIED!!!! NEVER use this company. Totally UNRELIABLE and heartless. My neighbor hired these amateurs to cut a tree down from his property, but had to access my property to do it, my neighbor approached me 5 wks ago to inform me he was having a tree cut down and would HAVE to access my property in order to do it, ( three days prior to my husband who was in a hospice bed in our living room dying) being a christian and in a poor frame of mind i never agreed, this one limb tree service accessed not only my property but also thought they had the right to use my driveway ( which was just sealed 5 days ago) my back patio, this company and their practice were the BIGGEST slobs ever to cut a tree down i was not even present to watch out for the very practices they did to do "their job" they left my property a total mess, put a hole in my driveway from dropping a trailer onto it and not protecting my blacktop,( i know this because my paver showed up to assess the damage and told me that's what it was from) he had just sealed my driveway 5 days prior to the incident and he said that was not there, i contacted owner of company he came tried to talk his way out of every piece of evidence i showed him then gave me 50$ for my trouble. Funny thing is he told me he gave my neighbor 2 estimates 1 was more expensive depending on how and if he could use my property, my neighbor claims he never did that, so not only am i being lied to by deceptive practices, but IM THE ONE with trashed property and I didn't even hire these people AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU their glossy website is very deceiving and enticing believe me they are not pros !! read more

Travis and his crew of two employees removed a large tree in my backyard over the weekend. I cant express enough how amazing they were!!!! So friendly and respectful. The tree was located between my shed and pool, they were so careful no damage was done. They finished the job in two hours, which really impressed me. They cleaned up every last leaf and stick, raking the entire area they worked in. After recently having a contractor and crew in my home that were far less superior, it was refreshing meeting a small business owner that was professional and efficient. The price was great as well.
