In late March 2024, a devastating ice and wind storm hit the Albany, N.Y. area, and you would think our home was made of sticks, by viewing the 18 substantial trees and limbs that littered our lawn at our East Greenbush home. I called Kayra's Landscaping & Tree Service in Albany (518) 256-7547), and reached the owner, Anthony Ward. He said he could stop by the next day and provide an estimate. He arrived promptly, as promised, and we walked our property together, observing the 18 trees and limbs, which I had marked with high-visibility tape, and numbered. This made it easy for him to provide an accurate estimate and insured we were in total agreement about the scope of work. We agreed upon a fair price, and Anthony said he and his two-person crew could begin immediately, which was a pleasant surprise. Anthony communicated clearly as to how he would conduct his work to avoid damaging our lawn. I suggested that he could bring his light-weight truck and chipper to our backyard, which greatly increased the efficiency of his team. Anthony and his crew removed the trees and chipped debris without damaging our property or other trees. And, they even raked stray branches, leaving our lawn in a better condition than when they first arrived! They were totally professional, and completed all their work in one day. So, me being at home and nosey, I noticed: They were affordable (she had gotten five quotes and they were the best one) They were fast (the tree was down within an hour and cleaned up with the stump gone before noon) They were well prepared (they had competent people on well-maintained machinery that operated very efficiently) They were experienced (Scott, the owner, was on site with his team and had decades of experience) So, I was impressed and went over to ask them to quote me for the 4 large (80') unhealthy pine trees that were near my house. (My kids nicknamed them "nightmare trees" with their holes and diseased limbs and vines) Now. Tree service is expensive, but based on what I had seen happening for the last couple hours, it was obvious that it would be the best thing I would spend money on this year, so I asked if they were busy in the afternoon. So one guy came over, looked over the area and the trees, and we agreed to a price, which they said they'd take a discount in cash. Cool. They ground up the stump in my back yard (they didn't have to, but it was very kind of them) They gave me the wood chips (two piles taller than our minivan) I asked if they could help with some of the branches I had piled up in the back yard (the chipper I was using was doing poorly with them) and they really went above and beyond there as well. They cleaned up/raked up everything from the work that they did in a very efficient manner. They were gone before 4pm. The kids at home thought it was a great show from inside the house. These people didn't even stop for lunch. I was really surprised. I haven't seen people operate with that level of professionalism in a while, and I strongly recommend their services to anyone who needs tree work.
