Our trees needed to be trimmed, both for the health of the tree and for physical appearance. Davey came and talked things over with my wife to find out what she wanted, and then gave an estimate. While high, it seemed reasonable enough and we were happy enough with it to proceed. Though there were some bumps along the way involving scheduling (which they advised us of which in advance) they came on the set day and did a great job. They listened to my wife and modified what they were doing, and after the work was done they cleaned everything up. My son loved watching them through the windows. Sadly, National Grid came less than a week later and removed a bunch of tree stuff that apparently was in danger of damaging their telephone wires. So, it is hard at this point to fully judge what Davey did because NG put their own mark on the trees. But, we are happy with the results. read more

While searching to find an arborist in my area, I found that Davey Tree was recommended by their customers as well as other sources. My contact person, Ryan, was very professional, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and he listened and addressed all of my concerns and questions. A bit pricey, but worth it! We had a local nursery plant an Amur Maple tree for us about 35 to 40 years ago. It is a lovely tree that we've always enjoyed looking at, especially in the spring and fall. Recent winter wet snow and ice storms, and high wind occurrences have started taking a toll on the tree's structure. The tree has never been carefully pruned, only damaged limbs close to the ground within the reach of my lopper and chainsaw have been removed. In our desire to ensure professional attention was given to maintain the tree and protect it from future damage we consulted with the original nursery that planted the tree. After showing the nursery staff photos of the tree's current condition, they believed the tree could be saved with surgery and select pruning by a certified arborist. They recommended Davey Tree. Now, I was aware of the existence of Davey Tree, and I had purposely avoided them on at least three previous occasions when I needed to have numerous trees removed from our property. It was my understanding that they were expensive. But this time, I wanted assurance that this Amur Maple would continue to be enjoyed for as long as we continued to live in this house. I called Davey Tree and explained that I was interested in having a certified arborist inspect the tree to see if it could be saved. I was told that one of their specialists would be in contact with me. I think Bryant called me the next day to set up an appointment. When he came, after closely examining the tree, he discussed with us the necessary surgery that would be needed to meet our needs and said he would send us an email estimate. The email arrived that evening and I was able to confirm our approval to proceed with a contract. We were then given a tentative date on when the work would be completed. Approximately two weeks before the scheduled tree surgery, Bryant called to let us know that they had an opening, and a crew would be arriving the following day. That morning, two Davey trucks arrived at 8:30am and the two very pleasant and knowledgeable workers reviewed with us the plan for the Amur Maple. We were all in agreement. Approximately three hours later, surgery and pruning were complete, we reviewed the results with the workers, and they performed a full cleanup of the grounds before leaving. I recognize that this review sounds significantly different than previous reviews written by others. I expect to have Davey back in the late fall and will certainly submit an update if anything changes. read more

Worse company. This will company to the home owner for payment after they said that the insurance company will take care of everything. No good. They went to remove the fallen tree and charged $3700. First of all they are way over priced and second they said that it will be taken care by the insurance company. read more

Charlie is always arrives at scheduled time. He always explains things clearly and walks our entire 10 acres and checks all our trees.

Personnel was nice enough. However, the quoted price was at at least twice as high as what I will be paying with another company. In addition, there was little flexibility on how to address taking the tree down without removing a fence on my part, cost and time. I didn't even ask what the charge would be if the company removed my fence. Sounded like the interest to remove my tree dissipated rapidly. read more

I had high hopes for this company when I called for an estimate on some tree work and Scott arrived promptly and within a few days. He was very pleasant and told me I would hopefully hear back from him by the end of the day with an estimate. A week went by and I didn't hear anything so I called to make sure he had my correct info. Left a message on his answering machine and never got a response. Another few days went by so I figured I'd try again. Told the woman that answered the phone that I had not heard from the person on an estimate and it had been two weeks. Was put through to his voicemail again and big surprise. No response. I was looking forward to hiring them if their estimate has been OK and it was a relatively small and easy job. For a large company this is inexcusably bad customer service. read more

Called the office twice for a quote today to clear my back property to create a backyard. About 20 large trees. The first time, someone picked up the phone and promptly hung up. The second time I called the lady acted irritated as if I'd disturbed her. When I said I needed my property cleared, she sighed and then asked had I worked with the company before. I said no, and she proceeded to huff and sign some More and act as if I were intruding on her personal time. I'm sure this would have been a very good paying job for them but I'm not going to work with a company that acts like my business is an imposition, especially when there are plenty other tree services companies in the area. read more

For years, the crews from this company have been blocking my driveway when they come to work on the neighbor's property. I've asked nicely. I've asked firmly. I've asked the neighbor to make sure the crew trucks don't block my driveway and was told I should "adjust." This from a man who hasn't worked in decades, telling me to not be bothered because I can't get out my driveway all day to go to work. I had to drive across my neighbor's lawn to get out of my driveway. Next time their crew blocks me in I'll be calling the police. Hire these people only if you want your neighbors to hate you. read more

They came out and they did an estimate for the sugar maple tree it's about 60 foot in the air. To cut it down take it away and grind the stump quoted would've cost over $3000. A little bit too high for my pricing. Time to break out the chainsaws I guess! read more
