Ok, I have since upgraded my rating to four stars as they have in some of the screens put in new…read moreseats which are spacious and comfortable. They also do a Saturday morning matinee for children for like €3 and offer special priced kids popcorn and drink for €2.50 which is brilliant. My son loves it and with the new seats it definitely deserves another star. One thing to note, not all of the screens have been upgraded so it's a crap shoot right now if you get the comfortable seats or the old, cramped ones.

The usually offer…read morethe more popular blockbuster type movies, so if you are looking for something a little more artsy or indie it may disappoint :/ That being said, the place is always clean and the staff generally friendly (I have had one run-in with soemone at the ticket desk, an older staff member who was very sharp and quite frankly rude, however as a one off I'll let it slide). They do a wide range of snacks, including popcorn, soft drinks, chocolate, candy, nachos, crisps...everything you need to get you through a 2.5hr movie! Two sets of toilets, one in the lobby near the ticket office, and one further along up near the screens at the back of the complex (these usually have a shorter queue so if you really are bursting to go, these would be your safest bet!) Elevator from the ground floor lobby, while makes the place completely wheelchair accessible, however not sure about spaces within the theatre rooms themselves (pretty sure there is space at the very back where people in wheelchairs can view the screen from). Some of the older theatre rooms have not been upgraded yet, as such the seats are smaller and not as comfortable, however as stated before they are all clean and kept in good condition so for me it's not a deal-breaker. They do special rates for children, OAP's & students, and also an early morning matinee club for parents and their children (great for parties!). This is a good idea because the cinema is located in the middle of a busy district of the town and so later in the evening, especially on a Friday night, there can be alot of rowdy, and slightly tipsy, people hanging around the bars that are nearby. One final note, they allow for advanced booking and ticket collection, which is a great service if you are planning on viewing something on it's opening night!

As well as another staff member making assumptions and smart comments on the person's disability. First of all, it's very small compared to say Cineworld in Dublin, but they screen more movies and for much longer than the IMC theatre. They also have more screening times, but not that many. I saw the new movie "What If" featuring Daniel Radcliffe on release day and there was only two screening times. The screens itself are quite small, and on weekdays the theatre tends to be quite empty for most movies. The only time this place gets crowded is if something like Twilight or Hunger games comes along. But otherwise it's kind of quiet on a normal day. By the way, there is a small Ben & Jerry ice cream shop but its only open in the evening. Otherwise, not much in the way of food, just popcorn and sweets. It's quite a way out from the city but there is underground parking with direct access to the theatre. They also do a few deals with the G Hotel and spa.

Our visit showed that despite some rough edges, there is definitely an audience for drive-in cinemas in Ireland. It's a very different cinema going experience, with a few pros and a few cons too. First off, it's a lot cheaper than the average cinema trip. €25 got us a couple's ticket, two drinks, two popcorn and some sweets. You can also have pizza delivered to your car from the nearby Four Star Pizza. They deliver in thirty minutes, and the ushers drop your delivery to your car. Also, since we recently got a pet dog, our little mutt was able to snooze in our laps while we watched the movie. The movies sound is transmitted to your car's radio (they give you the frequency when you go in). This is a little problematic, for the first few minutes of our showing, we could only barely hear the film. Overall, it can't quite match the experience of a well equipped auditorium, but don't write it off. All in all, this was a different type of cinema experience, one that we'll definitely be trying again soon!
