As a young man I had the good fortune to live in Hyderabad for two years and sometimes the cravings for Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani are hard to scratch back home in America... And sure enough what was presented to me was actual honest to goodness full spice level Biryani as I remember from India!!!! My brother and I went here for Dinner and each ordered the Goat Bryan Special. The pros were that it was hot and really spicy which we thought was a little much but that is par for the course for some places. The cons however were what was really bad and sealed the deal, the seating area was extremely dirty with flies everywhere as well as the fact that they used paper plates and utensils. Finally there were large chunks of bone in our dish which was really not a enjoyable experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I was in town for work and stayed in the same building as Omar Grill. They were open late and I was able to satisfy my late night cravings without having to go far. Their chicken shawarma sandwich was absolutely the best. I've tried many and this is by far the best in my opinion. Your breath gets a bit garlicky but it's so delicious, all worth it. I must've ordered at least 7 of these. Their Iraqi kabab is very flavorful too. I wish I had more time to try the entree items. They all look treat. I thought the food we ordered was good. The garlic naan, the tikki masala chicken and the paneer tikki masala were very tasty and satisfying. We were 3 adults but we tried to order 2 chicken tiki masala and 2 orders of naan bread. We were not allowed. We think sharing wasn't allowed even when we explained we weren't that hungry. Then the girl asked what we wanted to drink. We said just water. She brought out 3 plastic water bottles. We couldn't tell if we were charged for the water because they don't provide an itemized receipt. We think we were charged for water and we think they don't provide tap water to customers. I know many restaurants now use the handheld device and don't provide an itemized receipt and stand over you as you decide what to tip them. I don't like it. The place is not particularly attractive but seemed clean. The food was good. Just be prepared for little things that might rub you the wrong way and make you not want to return. read more

Tried Lamb uozii more recently which for 19.99 was a bad deal. Below par in quality and quantity. I've had better quality and quantity on similar food truck entrees for half the price. Went to Omar Grill a week ago and my first reaction was that it has a middle eastern diner vibe. The women who served me was very nice but I was not a fan of their food. I ordered their meat tikka, it lacked meat, the meat was actually pretty flavorless and so was their sauce. This small wrap costed $8.68 plus the water I had to pay for. (When you dine in you have to pay for bottled water, they do not have a glass of water which is pretty cheap and embarrassing). Overall I do not recommend this place, needs a lot of improvement. read more

Delicious, made fresh to your order, and extremely friendly! I got the chicken schwarma lunch combo & it came with the best seasoned chicken I've ever eaten, lots of rice, salad, sauce, and a drink, for like 8 bucks. Few people seem to know about this hidden gem since it's off the beaten path of 9th Street. The chicken shwarma is outstanding. It's served with perfectly cooked basmati rice, hummus and a small salad. The homemade garlic sauce on the side is super tasty - a little bit goes a long way. last night experience was horrible! I received poor service, rude attitude from the staff, delayed order, lies and more,I'm traumatized! I called the restaurant to placed an order for takeout, been told it will be ready in 20 min.I agreed, told them I'm on my way. I asked about the cost, been told that they don't know but promised to call me back! I arrived after 23 min, no one called me regarding the cost! Anyway, I called asking if they can kindly bring my order to me in the car as there is no available parking spot, the owner lady was kind to agree and I told her that I'm paying cash, so I need to know how much is the cost, she didn't know the cost but she said that the order is coming! another lady came 10 min later, asking me to pay $$$ for the order, I told her, I'm paying when they'll bring my order and why I'm paying this amount for 10 kabobs,5 chicken Tikka,grilled onions and tomatoes only She was confused, didn't know the items that they were serving and its prices! she kept guessing and asked me to do the calculation !! and I told her that she is the one who works at this restaurant she should be able to tell me the prices and not me trying to figure it out! Any way, another 5 min passed looks like the owner lady saw me keep looking at my watch annoyed, she came to greet me and chat! and when I asked her why am I paying 100$ for the order, she did some calculating and got 86+ she looked confused too as the numbers are different! she said she gonna check and that she's gonna text me the receipt, (she didn't) I inquired about my order again and she said she will check! I waited another 10 min and finally they brought the order , saying that the cost is 99+, I gave them $$$ and because I was pissed off from the whole situation I asked her to bring me the remaining of the $$$. 10 min passed no one came,The staff were laughing and ignoring me! So, I went to the restaurant, the guy on the cashier gave me a 1$ as change and when I asked for my receipt, they said they do not provide receipts!! strange isn't? When I experienced my disappointment in tonight's service, they were careless, kept laughing. and when I told them that the service is a shame the cashier guy told me to go and write a review! that they do not care! 25 min delay my friends!,total of 45 min to prepare my order :) It doesn't make sense,the restaurant wasn't busy! The order wasn't prepared and they started to prepare it when I arrived! they lied, they could simply be honest and say that they don't take phone orders!! right! The staff are not knowledgeable of the menu and the prices !! which is silly as the don't have a huge menu to begin with!! The staff didn't know the breakdown of the receipt + they don't provide a copy to customers, so you gonna pay unaware of what are you paying for ! That's suspicious! So, instead of being professional, apologize to the customer due to the delay and be transparent regarding the situation, that"we're sorry the order wasn't prepared, it gonna take extra 15 min or so, that we value you as a customer..ect" they just kept laying and fooling around! The whole situation and experience could have been different! if they handled it in professional way! You think this is the end? NO!!! the worse is coming! Next day, I woke up to find that the owner lady texted me on my cellphone at 2:30 am!(they got my no. when I called to place the order) She texted me unprofessional, rude and insulting messages! Called me names! accusing me that I was begging for free food! that she doesn't run a charity /shelter and she doesn't serve to the poor!! saying it was a simple delay and that I'm not "American" and shouldn't speak and act like "Americans"! I ordered the falafel sandwich. $5. No menu description. It was wildly disappointing as it was just 3-4 small falafels on a plain old tough pita. No veggies or anything else. Mostly bread and It was still tiny and def not worth the price.
