I received my order Wednesday. I signed up for text alerts, received none. My neighbor let me know it arrived at approximately 3:00 p m. Opened the box to find 1 3x4x 1/2 piece of dry ice at bottom of box. Top box of chicken breast were warm. Threw them out along with 1 box of burgers! Don't spend the money. I have been purchasing Omaha Steaks since before they had an App or stores outside of Omaha back when I lived in Omaha Nebraska. I have a Gold Membership and order at least half my protein--steaks, burgers, bacon, seafood and chicken--as well as desserts and family dishes, especially the Lasagna, from Omaha Steaks. We go in occasionally when they have deals but have run into issues a couple times where they don't have stuff that is advertised.

So I will caveat this review by saying it happened about 10 years ago. But I have never been in another Omaha steaks since. At the time they had parking out front specific for Omaha customers. I parked in it. Bought $300 of food. While we were leaving we saw a Jamba Juice and walked over and got a drink. When walking back to our car the owner/manager came running out yelling and berating us because we had a Jamba in our hand while our car was in "their" spot. I chirped back that I was a customer and he just said oh, my bad. Not even an apology. Acted like nothing happened. Please take this as a lesson - I will NEVER buy an Omaha steak product ever again, regardless of the location. It takes one thing. I just saw a commercial and thought of this event so had to write this review. I have never forgot and I never will. With so many businesses that sell the same if not better product, do better. Had some gift cards to spend so finally came inside this Schaumburg location. Easy to find the store near the LEGO Store at The Streets of Woodfield. Thankfully we were the only customers at that time as they became very busy as we were checking out. Freezers line two walls and there are category signs letting you know what's inside each freezer door. Two employees working at that moment and both were eager to help us find what we needed and answer any questions. Great location. Great selection of food. Great service. Plenty of parking. read more

My husband stopped in today to use a gift card today for $50. He was the only person there. He said the woman behind the counter was very pushy and tried to convince him to spend more. All he wanted to know is what he could purchase for $50? I stopped in to purchase some bison meat that I saw on the website. When I arrived I was disappointed to find out that they had to ship the steaks at a $18 fee. When I brought the fact that travelled to their location specifically for the steaks, the lady got defensive about the shipping costs. She made me feel like I was Poor. My customer experience was made even better by the fact The lady made sure to mention "that Omaha Steaks is a business, and their intention is to make money. " Well, this caused me to leave. I went to the nearest Whole Foods (around the corner) and was happily surprised to find a healthy selection of Bison Steaks. They stock ribeyes, strip steaks, sirloin steaks, and ground bison. All at wonderfully low prices. I paid only $17/lb ($10/steak) for my individually wrapped steaks. And even was able to complete the rest of my shopping for the day. Thanks Omaha steaks, for pushing me to search harder at my local Whole Foods. Now, I know that I can find bison steaks at a store that is less expensive, easier to find, and that has friendlier staff. read more

Tiny store with much to offer. Check the website out, before stepping in. The unique bit of info I can offer is that you can find some awesome manager specials that aren't found on the website. For example online a box of 12+ meaty burgers was $29.99, at the store I got them for $12.99 also a box of 4 mini pumpkin pies $5.00! Of course, this may have been because of the holidays. What better way to impress friends and family than with meat! They've got veggie and other meat, poultry, etc options. Help is always on hand and eager to help. read more

Look, the food is pretty good, and when I'm trapped in a freaking igloo with civilization 200 miles away, then hell yeah, I'm all for paying $18 to have decent steak meals come to my door (Still gotta fire up the igloo Dutch Oven)....... My point is, I go to my local store, grad a couple 2 inch grass fed filets, and they are not just better than Omaha Steaks, they cost less. Get it? This is really just a hustle cuz ya can get better quality stuff for cheaper price right down the street. Was it good? yes, but not worth it..... Now these were sent and apparently freeze dried, so I don't speak on going in to a location and getting fresh meat with no shipping.....but I don't believe they have fresh meat. The caramel apple tarts were actually very good......Here is bottom line.....I suppose it makes a fine gift. read more

I've tried a variety of Omaha's steaks, pork, burgers, sides and even their ham...first of all, I bought the ham to feed my brother and dad for Christmas. It was absolutely terrible. You couldn't even properly cut through it because of the stingy tendons. It was unbelievably tough as well, and while the juices seemed to be tasty, you couldn't eat it. The steaks are mediocre at best, though are maybe a third of quality when compared to a local butcher where you'd pay very similarly. The problem again is the stringy toughness. You have to cut around these weird pieces, which in the end only gives you a toddlers portion of meat. Their sides are ok, though you can definitely get better. For the price, it's astonishing that this place is so popular. I hate giving negative reviews, but I feel it's best to warn others when you're paying premium prices for subpar quality. read more

Some on Yelp talk have questioned whether reviewers of Omaha Steaks are legitimate reviewers. Please be assured I am for realz. THis is a good place for everyday meat when I am in the area. If I have guests or a special occasion I will go to the butcher we have patronized for years. However, I am often in the area so its no problem to scoot over and pick up some red meat and scoot up 53 home. Just avoid the area at rush hour. Shopping at Omaha Steaks is like buying meat at a car dealership and the food might just be made out of old tires. Ok the food isn't THAT bad but still ... not good and definitely NOT worth the money or the hassle of having to deal with a sales rep to buy your dinner. Maybe this review isn't fair because all of my issues with this Omaha Steaks location are issues with the business model and product as a whole. It's not necessarily Schaumburg's fault. My husband had some gift cards he received from his work and rather than order online I figured we'd have a better experience if we went to a physical location. That said ... Did you know all the food is frozen??? I mean, I expected frozen if I were to order online but since it's a physical location I imagined being able to pick up fresh meats. Not the case! In fact, it is quite literally "the case" because it's just a bunch of refrigerated cases of pre-packaged and frozen foods. Also, you can't "shop". You basically get a food consultant that you sit at a little desk with, leaf through a catalog, and hear about all the special sales they assure you should buy into. Wtf? I seriously was not pushed as hard to buy things at the Honda dealership. I was not expecting this at all and was in shock for the first half of my experience. My 10 year old son was with me and kept laughing at what had to be the most dumbfounded facial expression ever. We couldn't even get out of the door. I knew what I want before I walked in and still ended up there for 30 minutes. Every time I insisted we didn't need anything else the sales guy would remember another great offer he needed to let me in on. And turning down their rewards club was an extremely painful process. YES I'M SURE I WANT TO LEAVE NOW! BYE! So anyway, the shopping experience is super pushy and weird. The food is all frozen and pre-packaged. The food must be amazing right? I mean ... why would this company be such a huge brand if they didn't have really amazing foods at a good value, right?? Incorrect. The food is blah. So after my experience I leave the store with 4 - 5oz filets, 2 servings of lobster bisque, 4 mini apple tarts, 4 caramel brownies, and a small tube of herb butter ... for $130. I'm pretty sure I could have purchased this from Whole Foods for cheaper. So not only am I walking out with frozen steaks (which I NEVER buy) but I'm also feeling a tad cheated. My thought at this point is, "This stuff MUST be delicious or else WTF???" Well ... the stuff wasn't delicious. The filets were 5oz. filets but instead of a smaller circumference on the filet that I am accustomed to it was a thinner cut. The filet were less than an inch thick. A total disappointment. I was able to cook most of them to the correct temp (medium rare) and the taste was good but overall it was just a really giant waste of time and money. The lobster bisque was pretty good but definitely not worth the money. The desserts tasted like frozen desserts. You could definitely do just as well if not better with a frozen cake or pie from your local grocery store. This whole experience just left my husband and I wondering how and why Omaha Steaks is such a household name. Are other people having different experiences? I don't see how that's possible. Bottom line, take your money, go to a butcher or a specialty grocery and buy something fresh and flavorful rather than a load of one after the other frozen bummers. read more

I kinda feel like we robbed these nice people. We got one of those promotional coupons in the mail -- a whole load of grillable meat for $39.99, including 2 filet mignon, 2 steaks, 4 chicken breasts and 4 burgers, plus 4 stuffed baked potatoes. That in and of itself sounded like a pretty good deal, especially when we could go get it at the store instead of paying for shipping. Then I discovered I was eligible for a cashback reward from my credit card and that an Omaha Steaks gift certificate was among the rewards - converting a $20 reward into a $30 gift certificate. So we visited today, and they threw in an extra box of 6 burgers, plus four hot dogs, for free. And using the gift certificate, we paid a whopping $10.67. We walked out sort of stunned at the amount of food we had just purchased, for so cheap. The store itself is not real big -- two walls of freezers packed full of meat, sides and desserts, plus a display of various spices, snacks and whatnot to accompany your meal. The staff is super friendly and pulled our special together for us in no time. I also noticed that they had a bunch of in-store specials available and other promotions going on. And when a woman who saw our coupon said she'd like that deal, but did she need her own coupon? The guy helping us said he'd hook her up. I am sure that this is the meat equivalent of a coke or meth dealer -- give you the first batch for super cheap, get you hooked on the great quality and make you come back for more at exorbitant prices. But for now, we have a freezer full of meat that will last us for months, and I plan to enjoy it. read more

So my mother, who is 60 years old, found a groupon and wanted to use it to get my father a bundle for Father's Day. We go in and there was an older man working at the counter. This man, didn't have a name tag, was super rude. He was upset we had a Groupon, which is ridiculous cause it's something the company elects to use. When my mom was trying to access the code for the deal, he got angry when she showed him the order number by accident. Then, he informed us we had to pay taxes on the meat (no big deal), but he did it in an extremely abrasive way. My mom is very nice and kind of naive, so she said she didn't know they had to pay taxes. This guy then scolds her on how everything has taxes and "how else do you think things get paid for"? I will not be returning and will tell many exaggerated tales of my experience to everyone I know, and I get around. read more

Went to the Schaumburg location to buy my father some lobster and filet mignon for Christmas and was completely ignored and avoided by the staff. Every customer who arrived after me was immediately greeted and told someone would be with them shortly. And to make matters worse, one of the salesman kept acting like I was in his way as I browsed the displays. Apparently I don't look like a wealthy suburban customer. At least I'll have a story to tell at Christmas dinner. Never again. read more

Relatively low quality steaks. You can do much better at local butcher shops (in Chicago at Paulina Market, for example) or Whole Foods. The sides are even worse. If you want sides that compare to Omaha Steaks--try your frozen food section and select Banquet or Stouffers or similar. You'll be a lot more satisfied! read more

We ordered a package which included steaks and several other items. The steaks are very good. The desserts are fine. But, everything else that we have tried is horrible. We just had an Italian stew that was so terribly spicy that I was sick all evening. Prior to that we tried the "chicken fried steak" nothing but grizzle. I've had some excellent meals from their burgers, steaks (bacon-wrapped filets are quite good, as are T-bones) and sides (I haven't yet bought any of their desserts yet, but the cheesecakes always get me drooling!). Join their mailing list, and you'll get flyers announcing some decent sales - my only wish was that their prices were a little lower, but it's quality meat. The worst overpriced food that I could ever imagine purchasing. Their price for regular ground beef hamburgers is $25 a pound. Such a joke. I received a $50 gift card over the holidays and went there to use it I could not have been more disappointed would have preferred a gift card to Portillo's. The meat was nothing to speak of any fast food place is comparable. I can't understand how a place in this day and age stays in Business being so overpriced and no quality to their items. Received a package of stuff from my husband's co-workers. Steaks, pork chops, some sides and apple blossom desserts. All were average to below average in taste and quality. The roasted vegetables consisted of chopped potatoes, peppers and I think carrots or mushrooms, and it was just that - frozen vegetables, no seasoning, sauce or anything included. The meat was very average - can easily do better at your local grocery. Maybe 20 years ago, this was the only option for steaks by mail - but so many other options out there, would try them before Omaha. read more

I have been a loyal buyer at Omaha Steaks but i have to say as of today it ends. They made a mistake, i assume, by listing one of their items for $0, the beef stew, so i decided to order other items and this $0 item as well. they then told me the $0 item was unavailable. so as far as i am concerned they are no longer a place for me to shop. yes the prices are high but i was happy with the product and was willing. however now that they are unwilling to honor an item listed i am no longer willing to purchase from them. the ad was their mistake and i would think a company would honor it. this company does no such thing and i do not see any reason to buy from them any longer. read more

For at least 10 years Omaha Steaks has been my go to place for holiday gift ideas. Not only have I sampled many of the steaks myself and enjoyed them, but so has everyone I have ever sent them to. Even the most difficult people on my gift list love Omaha Steaks and are actually disappointed when I do not send them. I send a gift box to my dad in Florida at least twice a year and he looks forward to receiving them. They are somewhat $$ but I look for coupons and specials to make them affordable. People think I spend a fortune on the gift boxes of steaks that I send them and are actually quite impressed. The quality of the meat is always great. The steaks & burgers are always tender & juicy. I agree that you can go to your favorite local butcher shop, but these are convenient and easy to send as gifts. The steaks are shipped in reusable styrofoam boxes and dry ice. I know my dad is always happy when that container is delivered to his front door. Buy a small box and give them a try. You will not be sorry. read more
