I have been going here for a few months for strength training. I am not a member, but my trainer is and that's why I workout here. It's very different from other gyms because the focus is on fitness results. It doesn't have extra stuff like smoothie bars and fancy locker rooms. It's also reasonably priced. I'm a senior, not a "gym rat", and I feel comfortable here. I'm gaining muscle and making progress. I have seen other seniors here too. Sometimes there are families with kids as well. All the usual body builder types also have their place here. Having a trainer makes a difference, but I'm sure I could get guidance on how to use the equipment if I needed it from a number of members or staff. read more

Omaha Barbell is the gym I had been wanting and looking for. They have everything you need. From strongman to CrossFit and everything in between. This is for sure a gym for people who want to workout for real and not take selfies of themselves. The owner and staff are very friendly and down to earth. Has a classic pro gym feel, people are great. Great hand picked equipment. I've been a member of pro and hardcore gyms in many states over the years including armbrust and Metroflex, this one falls right in the top ranks with a focus on powerlifting. Great place and a bit of a landmark. read more

I was in Omaha for a business trip and picked Omaha Barbell tor a work out. This is a good place if you're interested in pure weight lifting. If you want a yoga or zumba class there's enough other franchise gyms in the area. They've got more than enough loose weights and machines. Again, limited cardio machines so the focus is on building muscle. With that said I gave them a 4 because some the equipment/plates are old and beat up. Of course that's from use but it might be time to rotate in so new equipment. Will be back on next trip. read more

Great gym, great price, great people. My boyfriend was a member for years and I finally took the plunge last year. After seeing you three times, the regulars will say hi and check up. I bought training sessions with the owner and could not be happier with results. The people who go here mean business, this isn't a gym full of treadmills. Atmosphere is supportive and people willing to step in and spot if you need them. Meatloaf was mediocre though. read more

Best gym I've been to if you're more into hardcore lifting. They have proper powerlifting equipment, a 20 ish yard turf strip. Lots of machines to train on and cardio machines like treadmills as well. Bret the owner is super nice and the guys there are always more than happy to give you a spot and give some info on technique if you need it. Great gym great atmosphere, highly recommend. read more

I've been lifting for 30 years. Literally, JUST moved to Omaha, 3 days ago from Washington DC. I visited this gym for the first time yesterday, and went back today. It will be my new gym home. I am in love with this gym. It is an absolute must if you are into powerlifting and/or olympic lifts. The equipment here is for serious lifters, with lifting platforms, jerk boxes, pendlay olympic barbells, bumper weights, deadlift bars, chains, competition benches, and the list goes on. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable experts when it comes to lifting. You can tell these guys love to lift and aren't in this business to take advantage of their members. For one there are no contracts, initiation fees, or any other hidden fees in order to be a member here. Membership is only $30 a month and with my military discount I only pay $21 a month. Come drop in and try it out for yourself, but probably best to not come in on a Monday afternoon when it's the most crowded. read more

Omaha Barbell is the best gym in Omaha. There are people and equipment there that can help you regardless of your goal. There are military personnel that work out there, MMA fighters - including ones that have been on UFC!, many powerlifters, strongmen, crossfitters, and even NFL players have trained there before. The equipment available at Omaha Barbell is second to none. This includes atlas stones and a loading platform (strongmen equipment), a yoke (strongman), a sled, battle ropes, resistance bands, around 10 specialty bars for a wide array of exercises, two monolifts, two power racks, two deadlift platforms, two competition bench press benches, etc. The list goes on and on. The staff and people who lift there are always open to helping you out. When I first came to the gym to join, I had experience lifting, but I had no experience directly training in a powerlifting manner. The powerlifting team, made up of about 15+ people, graciously welcomed me and helped me learn a wealth of knowledge. They were always open to me and I never once felt unwelcome at Omaha Barbell. This place is a gem and earned its nickname 'Midwest Mecca'. I would be in Omaha 2-4 times a year for business and always make it a point to train here. Tons of specialty bars, plenty of space and everything you need to train. Everyone is very nice (Midwest nice!) and approachable. Very few places like this. Great gym! Plenty of room, plenty of weights and all the equipment serious lifters need. I dropped in for $10, staff was super friendly, I picked out a nice hardwood floor space for hexbar deadlifting and set a PR. There's just something about a gym where everyone is there to work. read more

I went there yesterday for my first time, and it was an amazing experience. If you are into powerlifting, this gym is a must. They have just about any equipment you would ever need and the staff is super knowledgeable and kind. The price is reasonable too with a drop in fee of $10 then $35 a month.
