I have been looking for a basket although now that my front tyre has punctured getting that fixed should be my priority. Anyway Cheeky Bikes has great baskets and their prices are really reasonable (I can get exactly what I need for $25 and it is a steel mesh basket). They also have some clever innovative items like a takeout basket, which comes with an insulated cooler bag all for $90 (very reasonable). Also Cheeky Transport offers hand built bikes made by the store's owner, they look great, if you are a serious cyclist or want a really stylish bike, they are an excellent option. And they sell a whole range of cargo bikes. The shop has all the bike accessories one could want and the staff are friendly and helpful, this may be the best bike shop I've seen yet.

And it worked out really well -- the mechanic knew his stuff, was very attentive, perhaps even borderline obsessive about bikes & maintenance! At first I thought he was just trying to up-sell me on unnecessary things, but realised he was just letting me know what to expect coming up, essentially what he saw as potential repairs worth doing, but wasn't fixing this service. All up a good bike service, right up there with the best in terms of gear tuning (from my limited experience of about 6-7 Sydney bike shops).

The staff is qualified to explain the different types of bicycles and help you pick the one best suited for you. I had my hybrid bicycle taken in for maintenance and the mechanic did a phenomenal job. While the mechanics at Inner City Cycles are very talented and professional, the customer service in the front the shop is appalling. I came back a week after having my bike repaired just to pump a flat tire. When I asked if this could be done, I was rudely directed to pump it myself. Just as I was leaving the store, I was unexpectedly stopped by an employee and charged $5. I pumped MY OWN tire with AIR and was charged for this? I found this unacceptable, especially since I had that same bicycle repaired at the store a week earlier. It's unfortunate that the excellent mechanical service isn't reflected in the customer service.

They even attached the lights we bought for us. The staff was knowledgeable about local bike laws (which we don't know because we are American) and seemed pretty chatty and friendly. So glad to have a bike shop in the neighborhood.

BB has a laid back vibe-- like going on a bike ride with a good friend and experiencing the beautiful city you live in. The process to buy and book my ticket was really easy via their website, and the cost is reasonable considering the time and the entertainment value of the experience. They provide blue helmets for safety, and the best part?? THEIR BIKES!! Being from a bike heavy city, I was prepared to do some work cycling around Sydney. But BB has these fantastic bikes that are electric. They are battery powered but respond to the power and effort of the rider him/herself. You have to pedal to move, but it does make going up hills much easier and not leave you as a sweaty mess. They explain everything and review safety prior to your ride, but it makes it really easy to enjoy the trip. The only hazards really are the pedestrians! You go through some heavy walking areas so be aware and careful. Occasionally you'll hear pedestrians complain, and my response is "just because you're walking doesn't mean you can be an asshole". As far as I was concerned, we got off and walked our bikes in the areas it made sense, and rode them where it was safe or clearly marked for bikes. BB makes every effort to fit in their city, and also maintain the safety of their riders. Awesome awesome tour and I HIGHLY recommend them!!
