I would not want anyone in our situation to waste their time with him. After a nice initial consult and completing a mountain of testing (including genetics and an HSG at another facility), I was unable to get any information, discussion of results, or advice about next steps for treatment. I left many messages and voicemails. Once, when I asked for a follow up consultation with Dr. Allen I was told that it was "too soon" and that I should just call when I got my period (for what treatment? Unclear). The only call I ever received was from his nurse where I was prescribed a thyroid medication, even though my results were in the normal range. I later learned this protocol was based on old, disproven research. The medicine made me so sick and when I couldn't get Dr. Allen to discuss it with me, I just stopped taking it. In the end, we have had success with another fertility doctor in LA who has been responsive, communicative and shares our sense of urgency. Dr. Allen was none of those things.

Any time I had a billing question, the front desk receptionist, Pam, would assist and reach out to my insurance companies and would communicate with me promptly via e-mail. I had been given an unexplained infertility diagnosis and I brought my medical files with me for the consultation. Despite several doctors and a years worth of tests he was able to give me a diagnosis in my results other doctors had missed after only a few minutes. IVF is a tough process on everyone, and I appreciated Dr Rychlik's compassion, humor, and availability. He uses all the best and latest science and gets the job done while also having a wonderful human sensibility. It's so rare to find a doctor highly skilled in both their medical practice and in the many difficult conversations that come with treating infertility. I highly recommend him, and wish I had come to see him sooner. If you are struggling with infertility you owe it to yourself to explore your options, and have the best chance.

They are kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, but the front office and administrative side has been consistently frustrating. The administrative staff is disorganized and unprofessional. They frequently mix up appointment times, give conflicting information, and make even simple tasks feel unnecessarily difficult. They don't use email or an online portal to send updates, test results, or appointment confirmations, which makes it almost impossible to keep track of anything. Everything has to be done by phone, and the communication is often curt or dismissive. Another major frustration is that any time I need bloodwork, I have to schedule a completely separate appointment with a third-party lab instead of being able to do it in-office. This makes routine prenatal care far more inconvenient than it needs to be. I really wanted to have a good experience here, especially since the clinical care from the midwives has been positive, but the front-office management has caused so much stress and confusion that I'm choosing to switch practices. I hope they improve their administrative processes and communication in the future.

I hope the business sees this and takes this into consideration. Not only to do their job, look at the chart to see BMI AND make that call BEFORE the patient is all ready with an IV ready for surgery to start, but maybe start emailing patients instructions on how to take a photo of their anatomy that they can then send back to have the anesthesiologist make their final decision. It's done by other facilities, not all, but it's a great idea. Giving it a 2 because the nurse was great. But the ball was dropped somewhere with the other staff. If there is a policy regarding BMI, that information would be in the patient's chart when scheduling the procedure, and should have been caught prior to, and extra steps should have been taken, such as a photo.
