I thought I did a ton of research and since I was 39 with low egg reserve I saw some good reviews and thought Hanabusa was the place for me. It was not. I had 3 failed cycles with Dr. LeBlanc (1 egg retrieval, 2 cancelled cycles) and it wasn't until I switched clinics that I realized I was getting 'cookie cutter' Mini IVF at Hanabusa. Meaning they pretty much try the same thing on every patient. When my new Dr. looked at my blood work and egg count he said you need lower stim but you don't need Mini IVF. Dr. LeBlanc after 2 cancelled cycles told me my eggs just were not responding and I should do PRP. Another procedure that costs thousands of dollars. Also, after spending over 50K with them I asked for a phone call with the doctor and they wanted to charge me $200 to speak to Dr. LeBlanc. That's when I left and thank God I did. In fact, the only time anyone from Hanabusa ever called me was from the billing department for money. Also the staff at Hanabusa is not friendly but thats whatever. I found Dr. Wood and Gen5 literally right down the street. He came up with a plan for MY body based on MY numbers and we now have 3 healthy embryos on ice. No PRP. Over the years, I went to: HRC Pasadena, Pacific Fertility Center, HRC Encino, and LA IVF. Each one told me I would need an egg donor, and some refused to do IVF with my own eggs. I went through 8 failed IUIs, numerous canceled cycles, and 6 failed IVFs. I was told to give up, find an egg donor, or consider adoption. Fast forward 15 years. One day, while watching The Kardashians, I heard about this doctor and decided to reach out. I traveled from Los Angeles to San Diego to meet Dr. Wood at GEN5 Fertility. Fifteen years after my first diagnosis and now in my second marriage, at 40 years old, I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with my own egg!!!! I did a PRP treatments with Dr. Wood. The doctor's name is Samuel. In the Bible, Samuel means "God heard me," and I believe God heard my cry. I truly believe he is ordained by God to help women like me. I'll spare the smaller details and focus on the concerns that stood out most. First, I believe nurses should be mindful of how they respond to patients' test results and ultrasound findings. The week before our egg retrieval, we were told we had only a few follicles. While that information is important, the way it was communicated felt discouraging. IVF is about quality over quantity, and patients should be made to feel supported and hopeful, particularly during such an emotionally vulnerable process. The most difficult experience, however, was the day of our embryo transfer. This was our first time meeting Dr. Adams, and unfortunately, the interaction felt notably impersonal with zero enthusiasm. The day of a transfer should feel uplifting and hopeful, especially after everything a patient has gone through to get there. We were asked that morning to sign paperwork authorizing the disposal of embryos that would not be suitable for transfer. We found the timing of this particularly upsetting. That step could have been addressed days or weeks after what was such an important and emotional day for us. Additionally, from the beginning of our IVF process, we repeatedly and explicitly requested that the genders of our embryos not be disclosed to us. Unfortunately, the genders were not blacked out on our documentation, including the embryo being transferred that day. Discovering this unexpectedly on transfer day was extremely upsetting and could have been easily avoided had our wishes been properly documented and followed. Ultimately, these experiences have led us to decide that we will not be returning to Gen5, which is especially unfortunate because Dr. Wood is truly an exceptional physician and specialist. We found him to be thorough, knowledgeable, and one of the best aspects of our experience with the clinic.

Not at all what I was expecting when I thought about going to a doctor in Tijuana. The doctors office is actually attached to the hospital so if he orders tests or lab work you can get it done there no problem. He gets the results asap. Dr. Walters and his team worked wonders. I found them to be very professional and for our very first visit he did have a translator there for us in case we needed help communicating, but he speaks pretty good English. If I had any questions I'd either call or email and I always heard back from them with whatever questions I had answered. I have recommended Dr Walters to so many people and I would continue to recommend him. The cost is great and if you take a friend or family member there is carpool most of the way from Los Angeles so you don't get stuck in traffic. His office is only about 2 miles from the boarder in a good area so you're not going down shady streets or anything. It's literally across the street from TGI Fridays, IHOP and Sam's Club. It's a very modernized area. My husband and I went to Dr Walters after trying to get pregnant for about 7 years. We exhausted all our options covered by our insurance and IVF in the States is so expensive. I have PCOS and he has slow motility. We tried 3 rounds of IUI just because it was less invasive and costs way less, but no luck. We ended up trying IVF. We only had 2 embryos that were viable out of 17 that were extracted. We decided to transfer only one at a time and thankfully the first one took and we actually ended up having TWINS!!! The embryo split and we were blessed with 2 beautiful baby girls.
